As dawn broke, the scent of the previous night’s gunpowder still hung heavy over the waters surrounding the fishing village. Li Chuan stood upon the watchtower, his gaze fixed on the horizon. He knew the Wokou would not let this go; their humiliating defeat last night would only drive them to greater madness.

"They will retaliate, and sooner than we think," Lanna said, standing behind him with a grave expression. "These people rely on deception and brute force. We must be even more cautious from now on."

"Indeed," Li Chuan murmured. "But this time, I will make them pay."

As expected, by midday, the scouts returned in a panic with urgent news: "The Wokou have returned! They have brought more ships—three times as many as before!"

Panic rippled through the villagers, but Li Chuan listened to the report calmly and began organizing his defenses. "Their numbers have grown, but that only means they are relying on brute strength and neglecting tactical precautions. Lanna, are our ambushes ready?"

"Everyone is in position, awaiting your command," Lanna replied.

Li Chuan nodded. "Good. We will no longer be on the defensive. Since they favor deception and brute force, we shall lure them into our trap."

Li Chuan gathered the villagers to assign new combat roles. He decided on a strategy of "luring the enemy deep," drawing the main force of the Wokou into the heart of the village before springing an ambush from the rear to crush them in a pincer movement.

1. The Maritime Lure Team: Several light fishing boats were disguised as supply vessels, intentionally exposing a small amount of gunpowder and villagers acting in panic to draw the enemy into a pursuit. "Your task is to play your part well, lead them near the harbor, and then withdraw immediately," Li Chuan instructed.

2. The Village Ambush Team: Hidden within narrow alleys and behind houses, these villagers were armed with spears, harpoons, and small bottles of gunpowder, waiting for the enemy to enter the kill zone.

3. The Harbor Fire Team: The docks were packed with oil and explosives. Once the enemy attempted to seize the harbor, this team would ignite the hidden charges to destroy the enemy fleet.

At dusk, the Wokou fleet finally loomed over the fishing village. It was a massive force, with at least fifteen warships flying skull flags, their presence menacing. On the flagship, the Wokou leader, Akagi, sneered at the village. "These pathetic villagers were merely lucky last night. Today, I shall make them know true despair."

Following Akagi’s command, the warships approached the shore.

Phase One: The Lure. Several fishing boats disguised as supply ships fled the harbor in apparent disarray, their crews shouting, "The Wokou are here! Run!" The Wokou fell for the bait, believing the villagers were fleeing in panic, and ordered their fast ships to pursue. However, halfway through the chase, the fishing boats suddenly turned toward a reef-filled area. "They are trying to escape into the reefs! Speed up and pursue!" the Wokou commander ordered. But once they entered the treacherous waters, the fishing boats vanished. Suddenly, villagers hidden among the rocks launched a counterattack with flaming arrows and projectiles. The Wokou small craft were devastated.

Phase Two: The Main Landing. Enraged, Akagi ordered his main fleet to dock. He led a large force ashore, intending to conquer the village head-on. Yet, they were met with a silent, empty village. "Where have they gone?" Akagi frowned. "Likely hiding," a subordinate replied. Akagi, sensing no immediate danger, led his men into the village. But as they entered the narrow alleys, the hidden villagers swarmed them from all sides, raining spears and harpoons down upon them. In the ensuing urban combat, the villagers used the terrain to their advantage. Li Chuan led the main force to seal off the alley exits, cutting off any retreat. "Fire Team, prepare!" Li Chuan commanded.

Phase Three: The Firestorm. At the harbor, the fire team ignited the prepared oil. Flames quickly consumed the moored Wokou warships, and thick smoke billowed into the sky. "Their path is cut off!" Lanna shouted to Li Chuan. "Push forward! Finish them!" Li Chuan led the final assault on the village’s last defensive line.

After a fierce battle, the Wokou suffered heavy losses. The remaining soldiers tried to break through but were surrounded and wiped out by the villagers. Though Akagi fought to the end, he was struck down by Li Chuan himself. His head was hoisted upon the flagpole at the village entrance as a warning.

After the battle, the villagers cheered, the village immersed in the joy of victory. Yet, Li Chuan remained exceptionally calm. "This is but a small victory; the threat is far from over. We must unite more strength to prepare for the even greater battle to come." Lanna stood by his side, her gaze resolute. "No matter how difficult it gets, we will fight with you until the end."

Night fell, and the smoke from the battle drifted over the village. Although the Wokou had been repelled, Li Chuan knew this was merely a probing attack. He gathered the villagers to analyze the situation. "This victory is only the beginning. We must prepare for a stronger enemy," Li Chuan said firmly. "The Wokou main fleet is likely gathering at sea. When they return, we must be better prepared."

Lanna added, "They are masters of deception and surprise. Akagi was cunning; next time, they will not fall into our traps so easily."

The villagers sat together, sharing their experiences. Though some were jubilant, many remained worried. "We won today only because of the terrain and luck," an elder fisherman said with concern. "The Wokou are far stronger than us."

"Don't say that!" a young man stood up. "If not for Li Chuan and Lanna, we wouldn't have lasted this long!"

Li Chuan held up a hand. "You are all right. The enemy is powerful, which is why we must unite. I need your support, and I need more time and resources to prepare." Lanna looked at the simple villagers and stood firmly by Li Chuan. "From today on, we shall not only defend this village but turn it into a nightmare for the Wokou."

The next morning, Li Chuan organized the core members to draft a new counter-attack plan. "We will concentrate our efforts on setting multiple traps at the harbor," Li Chuan said, drawing a map in the sand.

Trap One: The Barbed Net. Using the villagers' fishing expertise, they wove massive iron-barbed nets, concealing them in the channel the Wokou were bound to use. Once a ship entered, the nets would entangle the hull, rendering it immobile.

Trap Two: Water Ambush. At potential landing sites, they deployed small boats equipped with fire-bombs and short bows to ambush the enemy.

Trap Three: Explosive Zones. They buried gunpowder in key hidden locations within the village, intended to devastate the enemy's main force once they had penetrated deep inside.

Li Chuan personally organized the villagers for military training. Though most lacked combat experience, the agility and endurance they had honed through their lives of fishing and hunting allowed them to adapt quickly.

1. Weapon Production: The village blacksmith worked tirelessly to forge spears, knives, and arrows, while also repairing salvaged weapons. Some villagers even modified simple catapults capable of launching short spears. "Our resources are limited, but our ingenuity can compensate for that," the blacksmith, Old Zhang, said as he hammered the iron.

2. Simulated Combat: Li Chuan led the villagers in mock battles, training them in various formations to adapt to different environments. Though clumsy at first, they gradually mastered the coordination required. "Good! Faster! Hold the formation!" Li Chuan commanded, his eyes filled with confidence.

Three days later, the silhouettes of Wokou ships appeared on the horizon. This time, the fleet was even larger—twenty warships, their flags snapping in the wind. Akagi stood on the flagship deck, gripping his sword with a dark expression. "These fishermen dare to resist us!" he hissed. "Today, I shall show them the true power of the Wokou!"

The flagship commander suggested, "Leader, let us send two fast ships to probe first, then follow with the main force." Akagi nodded. "Good. Teach them a lesson."

The two fast ships sailed into the shallows near the harbor. They failed to detect the hidden barbed nets. With a loud "thud," their hulls were entangled, masts swayed violently, and the crew fell in chaos. "What is happening!" the Wokou cried, but it was too late. Villagers hidden on the shore ignited flaming arrows, which streaked through the sky and struck the ships. "Fire! Put it out!" The Wokou fell into disarray, but the nets restricted their movement, and the ships soon became infernos.

Seeing his vanguard trapped, Akagi angrily ordered the main fleet to attack. They approached the harbor, intending to force a landing, but did not expect the villagers to be waiting. As the Wokou drew near, villagers hidden in the docks pushed rafts out from the water, and dozens of fire-bombs rained down upon the ships. Simultaneously, archers on the shore unleashed a dense volley of arrows, sealing off the landing zone.

"How do these fishermen have such combat prowess!" the Wokou soldiers cried out in terror, retreating.

Seeing the Wokou faltering, Li Chuan commanded his ambushing force to pincer them, trapping them in the harbor's shallows. "They have nowhere to run!" Lanna shouted.

"It is time to end this battle!" Li Chuan ordered, committing his final reserves to the fray.

After fierce fighting, the Wokou were utterly crushed. Akagi tried to flee back to his flagship, but was struck by Li Chuan’s spear in the chaos and fell heavily to the ground.

After the battle, peace returned to the fishing village. The villagers cheered as they hauled the spoils of war back into the village. "This victory belongs to us all!" Li Chuan said, standing at the village entrance. "But the Wokou threat is not yet fully extinguished. We must continue to unite and use our wisdom and courage to protect this home!"

Lanna stood beside him with a satisfied smile. "We will certainly succeed; today is only the beginning."
