Chapter Fifteen: Call Me Brother Fan

“I appreciate Sister Yuan’s recognition, but I can’t leave right now. Let’s discuss this matter another time!” I smiled. Even if you offered me ten times the salary, or even a hundred times, it would still mean nothing to me.
Of course, being Sister Yuan’s bodyguard isn’t about the money, and it certainly isn’t zero; it’s her talents that truly matter.
Sister Yuan smiled faintly, showing no displeasure at all, but her gaze seemed even more approving as she said, “This opportunity is extremely rare, so think it over carefully. I’ve met countless people, and I could tell at a glance that you have a heroic spirit. As I suspected, you’re a master among masters, and quite a decent person too. However, I’m afraid you haven’t fully seen through me.”
I was slightly taken aback and replied, “Sister Yuan, it’s obvious you’re wealthy and have a vast underground network, isn’t it?”
She gave me a sideways glance and smiled mysteriously, saying nothing more.
I didn’t press further and asked, “By the way, Sister Yuan, what’s your full name?”
“Han Jingyuan.”
“A fine name.”
Before long, we reached the concrete road outside, and Sister Yuan asked me to let her down.
With no cars around, we slowly walked toward the city, chatting as we went, Sister Yuan still holding my arm.
After a moment, she said seriously, “There’s something you must promise me.”
“What is it?”
Sister Yuan tightened her grip on my arm and smiled sweetly. “From now on, when we’re outside, you’ll be my boyfriend! But don’t worry, I won’t interfere with your life. Those people just now were my subordinates. When I heard that three vehicles were sent to Cangqing Village, I immediately thought of what you said about grave digging and hurried over. Since I just called you my boyfriend and you taught them a lesson, you have to be my boyfriend—otherwise, it’d be like my arm twisting outward, and my subordinates would be unhappy.”
I was momentarily stunned, then laughed. “Even without that, I doubt any man in the world would refuse such a request!”
“You have good taste,” Sister Yuan chuckled.
“Well… does that mean I can exercise boyfriend privileges?” As a young man full of vigor, her teasing had me burning with desire.
Obviously skilled at reading men, Sister Yuan suddenly let go and dashed away, glancing back with a smile. “Catch me first, then we’ll talk.”
I laughed and chased after her.
…
After a while of playful teasing, Sister Yuan let me kiss her a few times. That sweet sensation left me somewhat intoxicated.
In the meantime, we had already missed three cars.
Truth be told, I was still somewhat unsure about Sister Yuan, just as she said. On one hand, I barely knew her, yet she was so affectionate—it made me question her character. On the other, through our conversation, I sensed she was a woman of refined taste and principle, carrying an air of pride and nobility befitting her status.
Perhaps it was because I still didn’t quite understand women’s psychology, especially a mature and shrewd woman like her.
But none of that mattered—she was undeniably captivating. Her appearance and figure spoke for themselves, and her manner was noble and elegant. The longer I spent with her, the more drawn I became.
No matter! I’ve been single for over twenty years. If such a remarkable woman came my way, refusing her would hardly be manly.
Soon, a car approached from behind, and we hastily stopped it.
I was about to discuss payment when Sister Yuan casually tossed five hundred yuan out of her bag. The driver immediately became respectful and attentive upon seeing the money.
I’m not one to fuss over small matters. If Sister Yuan hadn’t paid, I would have, but since she did, I wouldn’t bother haggling over a mere five hundred.
Halfway through, Sister Yuan seemed a little tired and gently rested her head on my shoulder, closing her eyes.
I glanced at the driver, who was focused on the road, and quietly wrapped my arm around Sister Yuan’s soft, slender waist.

Sister Yuan still didn’t open her eyes, but a faint smile played at the corner of her lips as she leaned in a little closer, rubbing gently.
A subtle, enchanting fragrance wafted over, making my mind wander.
She truly was a bewitching enchantress!
Once we reached the city, Sister Yuan woke up and called for a car to pick her up.
We stopped at a gas station and bought a can of gasoline.
Before long, a black Mercedes S400 and a black Audi A6L slowly arrived.
Seeing the cars, Sister Yuan suddenly pulled my head close and planted a gentle kiss on my lips, whispering, “Call me tonight. If you have time, let’s go out for dinner.”
I was caught off guard by the kiss—this was a busy street after all. Luckily, people nowadays are quite open-minded, and no one stared.
I smiled and said, “Sister Yuan, you’re so charming. If I can find the time, I definitely will.”
“Then I’ll be waiting for you! Be good.” Sister Yuan smiled softly and gently stroked my cheek.
She then got into the Mercedes, and I got into the Audi.
The driver was a cold-looking young man dressed all in black and wearing sunglasses. After dropping me off at the BMW, he left.
I refueled the BMW and headed toward the Dongshan Group.
Recalling this trip back home, I realized I gained quite a lot. I couldn’t help humming a tune as I drove.
Suddenly, my phone rang—it was Qin Ruhua.
“Hey, Ruhua.”
“Uncle, what are you doing? You didn’t reply to all my messages?” Her voice was clear and tender.
“Don’t call me Uncle, call me Brother.” In a great mood, I teased her with a grin.
“No way, you’re an uncle.” Her voice carried a hint of playfulness, then grew shy. “Do you have time tonight?”
“If you call me Brother, I have time. If you call me Uncle, I don’t.”
“You’re bullying me! I won’t call you Brother then.” She sounded a little upset—I could imagine her pouting.
That’s the real Qin Ruhua: innocent and cheerful, mischievous and lively, obedient and adorable, both sweet and fun. I truly felt that when we chatted on WeChat earlier, and our relationship quickly grew closer. Of course, not every man gets to see this side of her—she’s very good at protecting herself around men.
“Then I won’t bully you. Hurry and call me.”
Ruhua giggled and said coquettishly, “Brother Fan, can I call you that? Do you have time tonight?”
“Haha, Ruhua, you’re so obedient! What’s the matter?”
She paused a moment, then shyly said, “I just graduated, and most of my classmates are from out of town. We’re about to go our separate ways, so they want to have a gathering. It was supposed to be tomorrow night, but since some classmates have to work Monday, it’s been moved to tonight…”
Hearing this, I felt both happy and worried. Happy because it seemed she wanted me to accompany her; worried because there were so many things going on—Ling Xuan, Sister Yuan, and the suspicious Liu An.
Damn it, why do all these things happen at once? How I wish I had the power of bilocation!
Sure enough, Qin Ruhua continued, “I want you to come with me. Some classmates want to pursue me, including Ma Hou, whom you met today. He might confess tonight, and others might egg him on. It could get very awkward…”
“You want me to be your boyfriend?” I replied while pondering a solution.

Qin Ruhua immediately said, “Not really, just pretend.”
“Pretend, huh!” I replied absentmindedly. “That’s no fun if it’s not real.”
She fell silent for a moment, then added in a teasing tone, “Brother Fan, didn’t you say your ‘bro’ asked you to look after me? This is the graduation party, different from usual. It’ll be really awkward if you’re not there. Please come with me, okay?”
I was eager to go too! But at the same time, I wasn’t sure—I couldn’t neglect Ling Xuan’s safety. Yet if I didn’t go, Ruhua would definitely blame me. Also, I’d be upset if she got confessed to, and what if she got drunk!
Ugh, what am I thinking!
“Ruhua, I’m currently Ling’s driver and bodyguard. Let me ask her first, and I’ll get back to you later, okay?” I said thoughtfully.
Ruhua clearly pouted. “This is so important, you should just take the day off. You don’t want to come? Too troublesome to look after me?”
I laughed. “How could I not want to come? I’d fly to you right now if I could, but Ling’s got lots on her plate lately. I can’t just leave.”
Ruhua fell silent, then said unhappily, “You say you’re taking care of me but won’t even do this small favor. I didn’t ask you to leave without permission. Why can’t you take leave? Ling would definitely approve.”
But that’s not really up to Ling Xuan; she’d actually prefer I left. It’s my own decision whether I can.
I softened my voice, coaxing, “I’ll ask for leave later and get back to you, okay?”
“Okay!” Ruhua’s voice immediately brightened with sweetness. “If you don’t come, I won’t call you Brother Fan anymore! I’ll call you Stinky Uncle! Bye for now, I’m going to get ready.”
Beep!
The call ended.
I sighed wryly and began weighing the priorities.
Liu An and Sister Yuan’s matters were lighter and could be postponed. Ling Xuan and Qin Ruhua’s affairs were more pressing and couldn’t be ignored.
It was truly a headache!
I lit a cigarette.
“Maybe I should tell Ling Xuan to come back early. The assassin probably won’t attack in the neighborhood, but that girl is too reckless and won’t listen to me. She surely won’t agree.”
No, I couldn’t overlook Liu An.
I had always been suspicious of Liu An, but without any clues, I couldn’t act. Now, recalling his invitation to dinner, a sudden insight struck me.
“What if he’s a spy? Was tonight’s dinner an ambush or a diversion?”
Hmm, this was a bit far-fetched, but since Ling Xuan’s safety was at stake, I couldn’t afford the slightest negligence—I had to consider every possibility, no matter how small.
Damn it, I couldn’t think about so many things at once. I’d better go back and talk to Liu An first.
