Back in the office, Huang Xiaohui was away, leaving only Ling Xuan inside.

I glanced at her, and she happened to look up at me at the same time.

"Where did you go?" Her expression had returned to normal, her voice calm.

I sat down on the sofa and smiled. "Young Miss, I accidentally fired someone again. You won't blame me, will you?"

Ling Xuan paused and asked, "Who did you fire this time?"

"Zhang Shaohua’s aunt, Manager Yang from the Xuanli Women's Wear Design Department."

"Hmm," Ling Xuan nodded.

I hadn't expected her not to reprimand me. I wanted to say something more, but fearing I might provoke her, I kept quiet. I took out my phone and saw that my sister had sent several photos. The first few showed her in the middle of getting her hair done, and the later ones showed the final result.

Her new hairstyle was indeed the kind that was straight on top and curled at the ends, much like Sister Yuan's, making her look both stylish and mature. With this new look, she had instantly transformed from a "non-mainstream" girl into a goddess. Her oval face had soft, graceful lines, and her skin was as fair and delicate as snow, flawless. Her large, round eyes sparkled, and her long eyelashes looked adorable. In the photos, she was pouting playfully, looking charming and mischievous.

She left a message asking me if it looked good, and I told her it did.

Her reply came quickly: "Am I prettier, or is Ling Xi prettier? (Cute) (Cute) (Cute)"

Ugh, women really do love to compete with each other, don't they?

I replied, "You are prettier."

"Haha, I knew it! That Ling Xi is so ugly!"

"Eh, she's alright. Not ugly, just not as pretty as you."

"No! She's very ugly, super ugly!"

"Yes, she is very ugly."

"Hee hee, I knew my brother was the best. (Cute) (Cute) (Cute)"

...

For the rest of the time, besides chatting with my sister and Sister Yuan, I spent my time surfing the internet and playing games. I rarely spoke to Ling Xuan.

In the afternoon, Ling Xuan had someone set up a new desk against the wall between her and Huang Xiaohui so that I would have a place to sit if any guests visited.

A little after five o'clock, I bid Ling Xuan farewell and left the company.

My sister had originally planned for me to go buy a phone with her in the evening, but since I wasn't comfortable leaving the house at night too often, we agreed to go right after her classes ended so I could get back early.

I drove straight to the bottom of my sister's dormitory building and called to tell her I had arrived.

It was the peak dinner hour, and many girls were walking in and out of the dormitory. I wasn't trying to show off, but I had kept the windows up until I decided to smoke, which forced me to roll them down.

Passersby, seeing that I was young and driving such a high-end BMW, kept glancing in my direction.

Before long, one girl gathered her courage and ran over, smiling shyly. "Hey there, who are you looking for?"

I sized her up. She was reasonably attractive, wearing a dress, and as she spoke, she leaned over slightly, offering a glimpse of her cleavage.

Are students these days really this bold and direct? Back when I was a student, male and female classmates were always careful about social boundaries. Well, my memory of student life was still stuck in middle school from eight years ago.

However, I wasn't about to turn down a free view. I glanced at her chest, smiled, and said, "I'm waiting for my sister."

The girl’s eyes lit up, and she gave a bright smile. "Which floor is your sister on? Maybe I know her!"

The truth was, I didn't even know which floor she was on.

Just then, my sister Chu Mengchu’s angry voice came from the side: "Hey, what are you doing?"

I turned to look and saw Chu Mengchu standing there. She was wearing a white pure cotton casual top, black cropped skinny jeans, and black flat casual shoes. She looked slim and delicate; at a glance, her style was somewhat similar to Ling Xi's.

She had picked this outfit out herself yesterday. Being new, it looked sharp and clean, making her stand out quite a bit.

She had already changed into her new hairstyle, shedding her "non-mainstream" look entirely. Instead, she appeared refined and elegant, carrying a light yellow shoulder bag like a fashion goddess.

She glared at the girl who had approached me and walked over quickly.

The moment the girl saw Chu Mengchu, she seemed to recognize her. A look of fear appeared on her face, and she quickly scurried away.

Chu Mengchu glared at her a few more times before hopping into the passenger seat in a huff.

I looked at her, amused. "Mengmeng, she didn't do anything to you, why scare her? She seemed terrified of you. Are you the little queen of this place?"

Chu Mengchu pouted. "Brother, you don't know, she's a bad girl. She’s always messing around with guys. I hate girls like that the most."

"Alright, let's go eat first, then buy the phone. I have things to do tonight."

After driving for a while, Chu Mengchu turned to me, looking a bit displeased. "Brother, I changed my clothes and hairstyle, and you don't even have anything to say?"

I turned to look at her and smiled. "You look great, like a little goddess."

Chu Mengchu beamed with joy and pride, lifting her chin. "Goddess is goddess, what's with the 'little'?"

I chuckled, feeling a sense of closeness and contentment.

Although my sister wasn't as quiet and timid as she was when she was a child, she was still obedient and cute in front of me.

We didn't go to the bustling city center, as parking was a hassle and eating there would take too much time. I parked the car on a small street not far from the school.

As soon as we got out, Chu Mengchu happily ran over and grabbed my arm.

I was used to it, so I walked along with her, checking the nearby restaurants for empty tables.

Since it was peak dinner time, several restaurants along the road were full, so we had to keep walking.

This area was not very close to the district center, and once we moved away from the school, there were fewer people on the road.

As we walked, Chu Mengchu suddenly said, "Brother, how about you give me a piggyback ride?"

I paused, smiling. "You're all grown up now; I feel a bit shy about carrying you."

"I'm not afraid." Chu Mengchu shook my arm, acting a bit spoiled. "No matter how old I get, I'm still your sister! You used to carry me all the time."

After a moment's hesitation, I smiled. "Alright."

Before I could even bend down, Chu Mengchu cheered, jumped onto my back, and wrapped her arms around my neck. I quickly caught her legs, feeling both amused and touched.

Chu Mengchu hugged my neck affectionately, giggling in my ear, her bag swinging back and forth in front of me.

Occasional passersby looked at us with curiosity. I felt my sister was quite excited, but I couldn't help but feel a bit awkward. She was indeed grown up now. To avoid any further awkwardness, I said, "Mengmeng, loosen up a bit, it’s hot."

"Oh!" Chu Mengchu immediately loosened her grip. After a pause, she leaned into my ear and whispered, "Brother, why do you have to live at Ling Xi's house? Can't you move out?"

The feeling of her breath against my ear was a bit ticklish, and I felt quite embarrassed. But seeing that she was still acting like a child, oblivious to these details, I couldn't bring myself to say anything. I just tilted my head slightly and said, "Not right now. I'm a bodyguard; I have to protect them."

"Then just stop being their bodyguard!"

I couldn't help but laugh. "Why do you always hold a grudge against Ling Xi? It's not like there's any real hatred; you'll forget about it after a while."

"No!" Chu Mengchu pouted. "She said you're her boyfriend. I don't want her to be my sister-in-law."

I smiled. "She was just arguing with you and trying to make you mad. She's still young; she doesn't even have a boyfriend."

"Really?" Chu Mengchu hugged me tighter in surprise, then let go, lifted her head slightly, and waved her arms in the air, swaying happily. "I've always wanted to rent a place outside, but I didn't have the money before. Now that you're rich, Brother, we can move out!"

I pondered, "Let's talk about it in a while."

In truth, living together was fine; it allowed me to keep an eye on her and stop her from getting into trouble again.

Thinking of this, I remembered those hoodlums and asked, "Have those delinquent students been looking for you?"

Chu Mengchu giggled. "The ones who used to hang out with me still look for me, wanting me to lead them! I told them my brother won't let me hang out with them anymore, but they're still a bit reluctant to let go."

Seeing that she genuinely wanted to change, I felt satisfied, though it was also funny—she spoke as if she were a gang leader.

"Oh, right." Chu Mengchu suddenly hugged me tighter and whispered into my ear, giggling, "Brother, do you have a girlfriend yet?"

Before I could answer, I saw a scooter coming toward us. I paused, surprised to see that it was Qin Ruhua.
