It was already quite late. Most of the colorful floodlights in the park had been turned off, leaving only a few street lamps. With so few pedestrians around, the atmosphere was dark and tranquil.

As Yuan and I strolled along, a strange and wicked thought suddenly crossed my mind. Was Yuan simply taking a walk in the park, or did she have something else in mind? Though this was merely a one-sided fantasy, it grew increasingly provocative, and I couldn't help but feel a stir of anticipation. I was so uninhibited around Yuan because she was equally uninhibited with me—one might even say she was entirely mine for the taking—which is why I felt so few reservations.

My hand began to wander upward. Sensing this, Yuan shot me a playful glare and reached out to catch my hand. Just as I was about to apply more pressure, I heard hurried footsteps approaching from both the turn ahead and behind us, forcing me to stop immediately. A sudden sense of vigilance washed over me.

Before I could even process it, a man in black appeared around the corner ahead. There were two soft clicks: one from the man in front, who had swiftly raised a silenced pistol and leveled it at Yuan; the other from behind us, and I didn't need to look to know that someone else was holding us at gunpoint.

Yuan and I froze instantly, coming to a halt. The man in front was more than three meters away, making it impossible to attack, and with an unknown threat at my back, I had no choice but to wait and see. I released my grip on Yuan and turned around, only to see another man in black, two meters away, pointing a gun at me.

Yuan quickly regained her composure. Her face remained expressionless, her eyes as cold as lightning, as she quietly reached for her collar with her right hand.

"Yuan, stop with the little tricks," the man in front sneered. "Who doesn't know you carry a piece?"

Yuan’s hand paused and then dropped to her side. "Who sent you?" she asked coldly.

The man in front let out a mocking laugh. "Yuan, this is the first time we've seen you wander into our South District alone at night, and in such an eye-catching Ferrari. Do you have no respect for Brother Hu? As it happens, let's take this rare opportunity to have a chat with him. Brother Hu has been wanting to meet you under these exact circumstances for a long time."

"He Hu? He has quite the nerve," Yuan’s voice turned even colder.

I was stunned. He Hu? Wasn't he the one who framed me all those years ago? No wonder I hadn't been able to find him for so long; he had been hiding in the shadows. If he dared to move against Yuan, he must have significant power.

The man in front sneered, "Yuan, since we’ve already made our move, we’ve considered everything. Is there any point in saying anything else? Stand still, watch your back, and I will personally relieve you of your weapon."

Yuan's expression shifted slightly, turning icy. Her eyes glowed with an intimidating intensity. "You think you’re capable of frisking me? No matter what He Hu’s intentions are, if you touch me, I can have your life with a single word!"

The man in front hesitated for a moment, took two steps forward, and then sneered, "Well, there’s no choice. We can’t trust you to do it yourself. If you decide to fight to the death, we wouldn't be able to handle it. You, kid, hands up." He glanced at me coldly, paying me little mind.

I raised my hands as instructed and looked back at the man behind me. He remained expressionless and silent, standing two meters away with his gun leveled at me.

Yuan turned to me, her face full of apology. "Xiaofan, I’m sorry to have dragged you into this."

I gave a radiant smile. "Yuan, I should be the one saying that. I was the one who asked you to come out."

Yuan smiled faintly, a glimmer of admiration and tenderness appearing in her eyes.

"Heh, kid, you still have the mood to flirt? Let's see how I deal with you later!" The man in front’s voice dripped with jealousy as he walked toward us, his gun still aimed at Yuan. In an instant, he was right in front of us. His eyes drifted to Yuan’s prominent chest, and a wicked smile curved his lips.

That was when I struck.

I brought both hands down simultaneously. My left fist, hard as an iron hammer, smashed into his head, while my right hand grabbed his wrist and jerked it with force. As I connected with his skull, I yanked his body into the air, spinning around to pull him in front of me as a shield against the gunman behind us. At the same time, I deftly stripped the pistol from his hand.

All of this happened in a flash. By the time I had taken the gun, the man behind me finally reacted, firing a shot that struck the man in my arms. He didn't even scream, as his brain tissue had already been shattered by my internal force.

With the gun in hand, I fired directly at the man behind me. I had seen guns often enough in the past—Uncle Seven had taught me how to use them and even gifted me several, though I rarely used them, preferring to solve problems with my own hands and feet, so I hadn't brought them back.

The man behind me fired again, but I estimated the trajectory of his bullets and tried to move aside. Still, human speed is no match for a bullet. In an instant, a searing, fiery pain erupted in my left arm. At the same time, I heard the man behind me cry out; he had been hit.

The man had been shot in the chest and was struggling to stand, clutching his wound. I fired a few more rounds to finish him off. Looking down, I saw that the bullet had merely grazed my arm, leaving a shallow, burning skin wound.

Yuan seemed only just to have realized what happened. I remained silent, so she didn't know I’d been shot. In her surprise, she grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the side, whispering, "Run! They must have more men."

I came to my senses and, refusing to drop the gun, pulled Yuan with me. We sprinted across the lawn to the right. Not far behind us, we heard rapid footsteps and shouting.

I decided to scoop Yuan into my arms, my leg muscles surging as I sprinted forward, leaping directly over low hedges and stone obstacles.

Yuan was a woman who had weathered many storms; she remained remarkably calm, nestling quietly in my arms while drawing a palm-sized pocket pistol from her bosom. Her eyes, sharp with cold, lethal intent, remained fixed on what was behind us.

Others were pursuing us, but they didn't fire, and they couldn't keep up with my pace. Soon, a three-meter-high wall blocked our path.

I set Yuan down and handed her the gun. Without asking what I intended to do, she turned to keep watch on our rear. I didn't even need a running start; I walked to the wall and delivered a powerful kick. With a thunderous boom and a cloud of dust, the wall crumbled, leaving a hole large enough for two or three people to pass through side-by-side.

Yuan turned back, her eyes wide with shock. "Xiaofan, how did you do that?"

I smiled, picked her up again, and dashed out of the park.

Beyond the wall was a small patch of wasteland, and not far ahead was a small road. I crossed the wasteland and the road, turning into a narrow street. There were buildings on both sides, cars and people passing by, and shops with open doors and bright lights.

Yuan had already hidden her gun, and I slowed my pace to a brisk walk. Nevertheless, our appearance still drew side-glances from many passersby.

"Yuan, where to?" I asked as we walked.

Looking down, I saw Yuan curled up like a kitten, staring at me with liquid, melting eyes. She smiled faintly. "Since you’re so reluctant to put me down, just carry me into a hotel."

I hesitated for a moment, but still didn't put her down. "Is it safe to go to a hotel?"

"What could be unsafe about it? He Hu failed this time, that’s all. What else can he do?"

As she spoke, Yuan’s expression suddenly stiffened. She brushed her hand against my arm, looked, and gasped in shock, "Xiaofan, you’re hurt!"

I smiled. "Just a minor wound. Hold it for me for a moment."

Yuan quickly pressed down on the wound, biting her lower lip in thought. She looked up and asked, "Let’s go to a hospital!"

"It’s clearly a gunshot wound; a hospital is too much trouble. Besides, this is nothing to me. But I have so much blood on my hands that it’s inconvenient to take a taxi or go to a hotel. Let’s just find a cheap, discreet motel. You wouldn't mind, would you?"

Yuan scolded, "This is no time to worry about that! But we don't need a cheap motel. My bag is in the car; use your phone to make a call for me."

Knowing she was calling for backup, I didn't refuse. After she finished the call, we waited in a dim corner by the roadside. I gave her money to buy some bottled water and fresh cotton clothing. Before the car arrived, Yuan simply cleaned the wound, wiped away the blood with the new clothes, and gave it a basic bandage.

A short while later, a black Porsche Cayenne pulled up. The driver was a fierce-looking middle-aged man. Yuan didn't mention the ambush, and he didn't ask; he just gave me a curious look before driving us to a place called the Yayuan Grand Hotel.

Inside the hotel, Yuan told me she was a major shareholder. We went straight to the front desk, got a room key, and headed to the top floor to a small one-bedroom suite.

The decor was exquisite and elegant, feeling more like a private home than a hotel room. Once we entered the bedroom, I was hit by a pleasant, lingering fragrance. Although my injury was nothing to worry about, Yuan still helped me lie down on the bed.

The bed was incredibly soft, the linens scented. I lay down comfortably and smiled. "Yuan, what is this place?"

Yuan was in the living room. "This is my room, though I rarely sleep here."

My eyes lit up, and I rolled around on the bed. "Yuan, it’s so comfortable here!"

She didn't answer. A moment later, she came into the room to help me up. I was perfectly fine, but I was happy to enjoy her care. She led me to the bathroom, where bandages, hemostatics, and disinfectants were already laid out. It seemed that since Yuan walked this path, she kept these basic medical supplies on hand at all times.

"Sit down and take off your shirt," Yuan said, pulling over a stool.

I complied, took off my shirt, and smiled. "Yuan, why go to all this trouble for such a small wound? I feel embarrassed."

Yuan gave me a tender, reproachful look. Suddenly, her gaze lingered on my bare torso, and a smile touched her lips. "Nice physique."

"Needless to say." Just as I was about to strike a pose, Yuan stopped me with a soft scolding. Then, like a gentle and considerate wife, she knelt beside me, cleaning the wound, disinfecting and bandaging it with care.

I looked down at her. Her expression was focused and her face soft, making her look incredibly beautiful. Seeming to sense my gaze, she looked up, her eyes as gentle as water, and smiled faintly.

I was struck by an electric jolt. "Yuan, you are so beautiful."

Yuan let out a soft laugh.

The wicked fire in my heart, which had finally settled, began to rise again. Unsavory thoughts flickered through my mind, and I chuckled, "Yuan, I have to go back later, but since you’ve bandaged me up, it’ll be hard for me to shower alone. Why don't you help me wash up now?"

Yuan froze. "You have to go back tonight?"

"Yeah, otherwise I can't report back, even though I’d love to stay here."

Yuan lowered her head, silent for a moment. She sighed softly, stood up, and stared at me with eyes as gentle as water. She reached out to stroke my cheek. "I’m so sorry I caused you to get hurt tonight."

I stared straight into her watery eyes and smiled. "I brought this on myself. But the way you’re treating me... I really can’t take it anymore."

Yuan let out a soft, mocking laugh, then suddenly wrapped her arms around my neck and pressed her lips to mine.

A hot, intoxicating scent washed over me, and the fire within me exploded. I no longer cared about the wound. I pulled her body tight against mine and responded passionately. Of course, I didn't know how to kiss, so I had to let Yuan lead.

I tried to remove her clothes, but couldn't quite manage it. In my urgency, I simply tore them away.

In that moment, I lost myself completely.
