Chapter 52: Beat Him Mercilessly!
Hearing Ling Xi's words, I couldn't help but be slightly stunned. Secretly be my girlfriend? This young lady really has a wild imagination! However, the idea was quite tempting and worth considering.
Seeing me hesitating in deep thought, Ling Xi shook my arm and coaxed playfully, "Will you or won't you?"
Ahem, I turned to look at her, noticing that despite daring to say such words, her face was still somewhat flushed. I asked in a low voice, "Do you even know what a boyfriend and girlfriend are?"
Ling Xi leaned in closer and whispered, "I know! It's just two people being together!"
"And then?"
"Then—" Ling Xi lifted her little chin, her face turning even redder, and said shyly, "It can be like you and my sister!"
Hearing this, I couldn't help but remember the other night when she eavesdropped outside the door; it seemed she already knew what to do.
Looking at her delicate, fair, and exquisitely featured face, and recalling the springtime scenery I caught sight of that morning, my heart couldn't help but leap with excitement. Yet, I still had some reservations and murmured, "Well, we can talk about this slowly. For now, let go quickly! Don't let your sister see."
"You promise me first, and I'll let go." Ling Xi pouted, seemingly prepared to be stubborn to the end.
"Fine, I promise you." Once a heart eager to stir is nudged even a little, it loses all ability to resist.
True to her word, Ling Xi immediately released her grip, tilted her head back with a shy and joyful giggle, and said nothing more.
Before long, we reached the women's clothing store where Ling Xuan was, and Ling Xi's two female classmates headed back first.
Since Ling Xuan had lost much of her enthusiasm, the three of us began walking back. As before, Ling Xuan linked her arm through mine, while Ling Xi linked hers through Ling Xuan's.
After exiting the pedestrian street, near the entrance and exit of the parking lot, there was a patch of wasteland. Lacking streetlights, the visibility was quite dim. I glanced over casually and suddenly noticed six black cars parked on that lot, all with their engines turned off. Yet, faint red glows could be vaguely discerned inside every single car, along with the dim shifting of human heads.
In an instant, I understood that these cars were packed with people, and they were all smoking.
Recalling Dong Kai's threatening words from earlier, I couldn't help sneering coldly and came to a stop.
Ling Xuan asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
"Uh, I suddenly need to use the restroom. Let's go back to the pedestrian street!"
"It's a quick walk home, just go when we get there," Ling Xuan said.
I clutched my stomach, my expression turning anxious. "No way, it feels like diarrhea. Hurry up."
"Alright, there's a public restroom right over there," Ling Xuan said with an amused smile.
Then the three of us headed back toward the pedestrian street. As we approached the public restroom, I gently pulled my arm free from Ling Xuan's grip and said, "I might take a while in the restroom. You guys go browse those shops over there."
Ling Xuan looked at me curiously. Suspecting nothing, she said, "Call us when you're done. We'll be in those shops and won't go far."
"Okay, go ahead! I can't hold it much longer," I said impatiently.
With an amused look, Ling Xuan grabbed Ling Xi and pulled her into a nearby women's clothing store.
Seeing them enter the shop, I circled around the public restroom and walked toward the entrance of the parking lot.
Since they were still foolishly waiting here, they obviously knew we hadn't left, and someone must have been keeping watch.
Hiding in the shadows, I peered over for a moment and sure enough, saw Chen Yali crouching beside a stone bollard at the parking lot's entrance.
Confirming it was indeed them, I gave a faint, cold smile. Instead of walking straight over, I pulled out my phone and dialed Sister Yuan's number.
"Xiaofan, did you miss me, Sister?" Sister Yuan answered in a sweet, coquettish voice the moment the call connected.
I laughed and said, "Sister, your boyfriend is about to be beaten to death, aren't you coming to save him?"
"What!" Sister Yuan was startled for a moment, then realized it was a joke and giggled, "Still so relaxed when you're about to be beaten to death? You really live up to being Han Jingyuan's boyfriend. Thumbs up for you."
"Alright, jokes aside. I'm at the South District pedestrian street, and people in six cars are blocking me. How many cars of men can you mobilize at top speed?"
"You're really being blocked?" Sister Yuan's tone instantly turned serious. "I'll dispatch men to you right away, at least ten cars. But I'm currently in the Central District; I'll have Little Wu take your orders. Where exactly are you?"
"On the wasteland outside the parking lot at the entrance of the pedestrian street."
"Got it. That's very close, I'll be there in ten minutes at most."
After hanging up, I leisurely lit a cigarette.
To be honest, even alone, I wasn't afraid of this many people. But it was necessary to give Dong Kai a powerful deterrent so he would know my background and not end up like Liu Xiaofeng, incorrigibly stubborn!
Not long after I finished smoking my cigarette, I received an unfamiliar call.
"Brother Fan, it's Little Wu."
Little Wu was the cold young man who had given me a ride twice. It seemed Sister Yuan had forwarded my number to him.
"Where are you guys? How many cars?"
"We're passing one more traffic light, should be here in a minute. Fifteen cars in total!"
"Good!"
Hanging up, I walked straight forward.
"He's coming," I heard Chen Yali call out from the darkness.
Bang, bang, bang!
The doors of the six cars suddenly flew open, and the rearmost vehicle even turned on its low beams, instantly illuminating the surrounding area.
Swish!
More than twenty burly men holding iron pipes and machetes leaped out of the cars, rushing in from both sides to surround me.
As I walked, I calmly lit another cigarette, strolled to the center of the illuminated area, and came to a stop.
Scanning the surroundings, I saw a figure slowly stepping out from the leading vehicle.
It was none other than Dong Kai.
His cheek was still swollen, and a ferocious, vengeful smile hung on his face as he slowly walked toward me.
Chen Yali also hurried over, linking her arm through his with a face full of hatred.
"Just you alone? It seems you knew we were waiting for you?" Dong Kai and Chen Yali stopped in front of me, Dong Kai glancing toward the pedestrian street ahead and saying coldly.
I slowly blew out a puff of smoke, maintaining a calm expression as I turned to look outside. In the distance, a neat line of cars was speeding over rapidly; judging by the sight, it had to be Little Wu and his men.
"Fuck your mother!" Seeing my attitude, Dong Kai let out an angry roar and kicked directly at me.
Presuming that his side had superior numbers and thinking I wouldn't dare fight back, he put all his strength into the kick without holding back.
I gently sidestepped, and his kick completely missed. Losing his balance, he fell flat on his backside onto the ground.
Some of the weapon-wielding thugs nearby let out chuckles, but none of them made a move.
Presumably, these men weren't Dong Kai's own subordinates, but hired muscle or favors called in through connections.
"Brother Kai," Chen Yali quickly rushed over to help him up.
"Get lost!" Dong Kai's face was as dark as the bottom of a pot; with a ferocious expression, he violently shoved Chen Yali away.
"Brat, today I'm going to make you a cripple! Get him!" Dong Kai retreated a few steps and waved his hand aggressively.
Right at that moment, intense high-beam headlights suddenly flashed from the road ahead, accompanied by the roaring sound of multiple engines revving in unison.
Everyone was startled and turned to look. On the road outside, a neat line of black sedans was speeding in, so many vehicles that their exact count was hard to guess. The leading car had its high beams on, dazzling the eyes so much that it was hard to look directly.
This scene clearly looked abnormal, and the thugs standing nearby instantly stopped what they were doing.
Dong Kai and Chen Yali also frowned as they stared at the vehicles.
In the blink of an eye, the line of sedans pulled right up to the spot. As the lead car honked its horn three times, all the car doors flew open simultaneously. A dense crowd of weapon-wielding men surged out—at a glance, there were at least sixty or seventy of them—and surrounded the area within seconds.
Although Dong Kai and Chen Yali had no idea what was happening, they were scared completely pale. The thugs they had called also wore expressions of alarm, watching their surroundings with extreme vigilance. Yet, trapped within the encirclement, not a single one of them dared to make the slightest move.
From the crowd walked out a young man dressed entirely in black, with a cold expression and sharp eyes.
It was Little Wu.
Seeing him, the thugs summoned by Dong Kai broke into an uproar. Seeming to recognize him, their faces filled with sheer terror.
"Brother Fan!" Little Wu walked up to me and bowed deeply.
"Yeah, you guys made great time," I smiled faintly.
At that moment, Dong Kai and Chen Yali trembled violently, staring at me in absolute terror. Chen Yali even let out a weak moan of fright, her legs turning to jelly as she slumped against Dong Kai for support.
Little Wu cast a cold glance at the thugs around us, his expression suddenly pausing as he asked, "It's you guys?"
I was slightly taken aback. "You know them?"
"They're He Hu's men."
"He Hu's men?" My eyes lit up, and I gave a sweeping wave of my hand. "Then what are you waiting for? Beat the hell out of them!"
