Volume One, Chapter 50: Lu Zhongming's Breeding Base
Wang Sufen held her breath for a moment before finally exhaling deeply.
“The people on our team were all helped by your father back then, so naturally, they wouldn’t say anything.”
“But as for the first team, you know them well—they’re not to be taken lightly. There are plenty who speak ill.”
Rural folk loved to gossip, and Lu Yang was well aware of this.
The tip of the sword was extended. Tang Yun’s fair neck was as delicate as a thin layer of glutinous rice skin, with faintly visible turquoise veins beneath. When the sword’s point pressed against her skin, it dented slightly without breaking through, releasing only a tiny bead of blood.
Before this, there was one more thing he had to do: endure the damned reporters’ interviews and dodge their foolish questions with smooth talk.
Hearing Governor MacLehose’s voice, Zhang Yi could tell without thinking that the governor was calling about the bank run incident.
Zhang Yi was astonished as he recalled the private clubs in 1980s Hong Kong, places filled almost exclusively with singing and dancing.
Gao Peng’s heart stirred. He suppressed the urge to smash the missile launcher with his palm, instead raising both hands as an invisible cyclone swirled around him.
Moreover, suppliers had stopped providing raw materials, and subcontractors had ceased all cooperation with Ark Group. With only two months left, production capacity couldn’t meet the conditions for the new product launch.
Helena looked at him in puzzlement for a moment, then nodded without further questions. Jay could never lie to her, and it was clear he couldn’t fool her into believing he knew nothing about the place. But since he said it was nothing important, Helena chose not to press, trusting him completely.
In the next instant, with another wave of Ouyang Huang’s hand, the bullets seemed to come alive. Obeying his command, they all rotated a full 180 degrees, turning their tips toward the crowd.
In the final quarter, as Maddy’s stamina waned and the opponent’s defense tightened, her accuracy plummeted sharply.
At this moment, Xiaose’s mind was wholly immersed in the strange fusion of the exotic flame burning within her.
However, the thought of a variety show she could attend in two weeks brought an immediate sense of balance to her heart.

Though Qi Ye still struggled to communicate with others, whenever someone approached him, he would respond. If the crew needed to coordinate anything, they would find him, and he was always approachable.
He drank from a bowl holding over a pound in capacity. Three bowls meant more than three pounds, yet his eyes remained clear and his complexion normal. Such an enormous intake made all the other patrons forget to eat or drink, simply staring at him in stunned silence.
“Heh heh, I’m no big fool, but Lord Tsunade might just become one in the future,” Hinata said with a smile toward Tsunade.
The interviewers and admissions officers nearby were somewhat confused. As far as they knew, to retain a superteacher like Ning Yunxi, the school had prepared to specially admit these two children without an interview. Unexpectedly, Ning Yunxi insisted they still go through the interview process.
The atmosphere thickened. Tilde, not wanting her boyfriend to clash with a powerful businessman, hurriedly tugged on Hunter’s clothes.
Rumlow answered absentmindedly. Before coming, he had witnessed Hunter personally kill Valentin, so he dared not take things lightly.
Zi Bing’er’s furious voice echoed through the vast cave. Some of the icicles overhead trembled and began to fall. Liu Kaizhen and the others scrambled to avoid them as huge icicles shattered on the ground, scattering like gleaming jade beads in a spectacular display.
The battle strategist seemed about to go on at length, but Li Ningyu waved him off abruptly. “Enough, no more nonsense. I’m asking—how’s the contact with the guard regiment going?”
