Chapter 29: Song Jiajia and Lu Hao Are Taken Away
Lu Ting looked at Lin Wen with a wary gaze. "What do you want with my older brother and sister-in-law?"
Lin Wen's expression was stern. "You just need to bring them out."
At this moment, Liu Fenglan noticed that Lu Ting had been away for a long time and walked over. "Xiao Ting, who is it?"
Seeing the people in police uniforms, Liu Fenglan was startled. "You... you..."
"Grandma, they said they are looking for my older brother and sister-in-law," Lu Ting said, retreating to Liu Fenglan's side.
Liu Fenglan looked at them. "What do you want with my grandson? My grandson is very well-behaved; he never does anything illegal or criminal."
Lin Wen replied, "Whether he has or hasn't, they know it in their hearts. Where are they?"
Liu Fenglan said, "It must be that hussy! She must have done something and dragged my grandson into it. Hurry up and call that hussy out!" Liu Fenglan shoved Lu Ting.
Lu Ting hurriedly nodded. "Okay, okay."
She then ran to Song Jiajia’s bedroom door and pounded on it vigorously.
Before Lu Ting could say a word, Song Jiajia’s impatient voice came from inside: "Stop banging! If you aren't going to cook, just wait to starve!"
Lu Ting had a fiery temper. "Song Jiajia, get out here right now! The police are here for you!"
The police! Song Jiajia stood up abruptly. She thought of what Sang Yu had said that day. Had Sang Yu really gone to call the police to arrest her? Why? She hadn't done anything; she had merely stated a fact. Jiang Jingming deserved to die.
"Wh-what police? It has nothing to do with me, stop bothering me!" She wouldn't come out; if she did, the police would surely take her away.
"Song Jiajia, get out here! Do you think hiding inside will make it go away? The police are already at our doorstep. You must have done something illegal outside. If you implicate us, I won't let you off!" Lu Ting yelled while pounding on the door.
Song Jiajia shouted, "What could I have done? Those people are spouting nonsense, it has nothing to do with me, leave me alone!" Where on earth had that deadbeat Lu Hao gone? Why wasn't he back yet?
Seeing that Song Jiajia was as stubborn as a mule, Lu Ting went directly to Lin Wen and the others. "She refuses to come out. You can just break in and get her."
Liu Fenglan said in a fit of rage, "What a disaster! How could we have such a granddaughter-in-law!" She was more worried that if something happened to Song Jiajia, it would directly implicate them.
Lin Wen and his team were not standing on ceremony. They walked straight to the door of Song Jiajia’s room. "Comrade Song Jiajia, please come out and cooperate with our investigation!"
Song Jiajia stammered, "I... I didn't do anything. You... you have the wrong person."
Lin Wen frowned. "If you do not come out to cooperate with the investigation, we will have no choice but to break down the door."
Hearing this, Liu Fenglan quickly said, "Song Jiajia, you plague-ridden woman, come out now! What on earth have you been doing out there?"
Hearing Liu Fenglan’s voice, Song Jiajia was also angry. When she first arrived, they had spoken so sweetly, claiming they would treat her like their own granddaughter. Now, they were showing their true colors. She wondered how Sang Yu had even survived living with them in her previous life.
"What are you all doing?" Lu Hao returned from outside and saw the scene before him, including the police.
Seeing the police, Lu Hao’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Sang Yu had really reported them to the Public Security Bureau?
Lin Wen recognized Lu Hao; they had crossed paths once during the wedding procession. "You are Lu Hao?" Lin Wen walked up to him.
Lu Hao looked at Lin Wen nervously. "What do you want?"
Lin Wen stated, "You are suspected of molesting a married woman in broad daylight and spreading rumors about a people's hero. We need to take you in for questioning!"
Lu Hao’s face turned pale with shock. "I didn't! I was just talking to Sang Yu. And it wasn't me who said it; it was Song Jiajia. It was all Song Jiajia’s doing!"
Lin Wen replied, "Whether it was you or not, we will investigate it thoroughly. But the matter of you molesting a married woman is already quite clear to us."
Lu Hao defended himself, "I didn't molest anyone! I was just talking to her. If you don't believe me, go ask Sang Yu."
Lin Wen frowned, unwilling to say more. "Come with us."
Liu Fenglan finally understood the situation. Hearing that they were taking Lu Hao away, she rushed forward to stop them. "No! You cannot take my grandson away!"
"It was all that little hussy Song Jiajia’s doing! Go take her, don't take my grandson!" Liu Fenglan blocked Lu Hao.
Lu Hao added, "Yes, it was all Song Jiajia who said those things. It has nothing to do with me."
Song Jiajia, inside the room, heard every word clearly. Upon hearing Lu Hao push all the responsibility onto her, she was furious. She opened the door and glared at him. "Lu Hao, do you have any conscience at all? I helped you so much and gave you money, and you're saying this about me?"
A flicker of guilt flashed in Lu Hao's eyes, but he still insisted, "It was what you said."
"Lu Hao, you are a coward!" Song Jiajia shouted in anger.
Liu Fenglan was displeased. "You little hussy, what are you saying? Who are you calling a coward!"
Lu Hao’s expression was also darkening.
Lin Wen watched this farce and said sternly, "That's enough! Stop arguing and come with us now!"
Lu Hao and Song Jiajia were taken away.
"Don't take my grandson! Don't take my grandson!" Regardless of how Liu Fenglan wailed and cried, Lu Hao was still hauled away.
Lu Ting helped Liu Fenglan up from the ground.
"Xiao Ting, what do we do? Your brother has been taken away. Why don't you go tell the police that you'll swap places with your brother?"
Lu Ting froze, a flash of resentment crossing her face. "Grandma, the police won't agree to that."
Liu Fenglan slapped her thigh and cried, "What are we going to do?"
"Grandma, I have a way," Lu Ting said, a sharp glint in her eyes.
"What way? Tell me quickly!"
"Doesn't Song Jiajia’s family have a lot of money? Let's go find her parents and make them figure something out."
Liu Fenglan realized this made sense and hurriedly left the house to head toward the Song residence.
Lu Ting watched Liu Fenglan’s stumbling figure, hatred etched on her face.
...
Sang Yu was completely unaware of these events, as she was currently being showered with congratulations by Liu Shumin.
"Xiao Yu, let me tell you, your comic is truly amazing! Ever since we started publishing your work, our newspaper’s sales have skyrocketed. I’ve been here for many years, and this is the first time I’ve seen such high sales figures. This is undoubtedly all thanks to your comic! Furthermore, the superiors are very pleased with our performance and have decided to reward us. You will certainly get your share!"
From the moment she saw Sang Yu, the smile on Liu Shumin’s face had not faded.
Sang Yu had actually expected her comic to be popular from the start, but seeing Liu Shumin so excited, she couldn't help but feel happy herself.
"By the way, there is one more thing I need to tell you," Liu Shumin said, suddenly sounding mysterious.
