Xia Xiyin already knew that once her aunt discovered Zhou Yu’an’s identity, she wouldn’t fail to act opportunistically.

“Aunt, given my current situation, you still say you have something to ask of me? I don’t have that kind of ability,” she said with a wry smile.

Yang Su’e sighed and pointed toward her daughter sitting on the other side, looking troubled. “Your sister graduated last year and has been home for a year without finding a good job. She’s shy, timid, and not very articulate. I was thinking, if she were with you, learning properly, even if she didn’t end up as successful as you with a good boyfriend, at least she’d gain some experience and grow. That alone would satisfy me.”

“Mom…” Zhang Wenqi called out in dissatisfaction.

Xia Xiyin also didn’t like hearing Yang Su’e speak that way and replied coolly, “Wenqi only graduated from a vocational school. Her education isn’t enough to get into our company.”

As she spoke, she noticed Yang Su’e’s eyes fixed on Zhou Yu’an, filled with appeal.

“Xiyin, it wasn’t possible before, but now it’s different,” Yang Su’e interrupted. “Now that Wenqi’s cousin-in-law is the company boss, who would dare say her education is insufficient? There’s no need to train her extensively; just give her a position in the company, and that will do.”

She smiled broadly at Zhou Yu’an and said, “You see, sorry to trouble you. But that’s the love of parents everywhere. Once the child’s issue is settled, we can rest easy.”

“That’s right, not finding a good job for our child has really worried us old folks,” Zhang Wen added in agreement nearby.

Xia Xiyin looked at her uncle—the face resembling her mother’s—and at how he had supported the two siblings over the years. The words she was about to refuse caught painfully in her throat.

At that moment, Zhou Yu’an spoke, “Alright, have your cousin report to Human Resources next Monday. We’ll see what to do then.”

“Great!” Yang Su’e was so delighted by Zhou Yu’an’s prompt agreement that she didn’t know how to contain her excitement. “Thank you, nephew-in-law, thank you so much!”

After saying this, she tugged her daughter over, “Come on, thank your brother-in-law!”

Zhang Wenqi timidly looked at Zhou Yu’an, her gaze full of admiration, and whispered, “Thank you, brother-in-law.”

“Say it louder!” Yang Su’e pushed her shoulder with disdain. “You’re so quiet wherever you speak. Can’t you be louder?”

Zhou Yu’an raised his hand in a stopping gesture and said to Zhang Wenqi, “No need to thank me. Be at Human Resources at eight sharp on Monday.”

“I understand,” Zhang Wenqi replied and then sat back beside her father.

Xia Xiyin closed her eyes and massaged her forehead, wanting to issue an eviction order.

Unexpectedly, Zhang Wen spoke again, “Xiyin, your uncle has one more thing to say.”

Xia Xiyin didn’t even have to think: her uncle was definitely going to talk about “money.”

This couple had their roles clearly defined.

“Uncle, please hold off on that for now,” she said firmly.

Zhang Wen seemed unprepared for her refusal. He was stunned briefly, glanced at Yang Su’e, and finally said, “Alright, that’s fine. It’s not that urgent. When you’re free, go visit Grandma. The old lady was just mentioning you.”

Xia Xiyin responded with a simple “Mm.”

With their purpose achieved, the three were about to take their leave.

Before leaving, Yang Su’e expressed her endless gratitude to Zhou Yu’an once more.

Only after Zhang Wenqi’s parents had gone downstairs did she quietly say to Xia Xiyin, “Sis, sorry for the trouble my mom caused you. I didn’t want to make things difficult for you. I can choose not to go to the company.”

Xia Xiyin had always maintained a good relationship with her cousin. Seeing her so sensible, she comforted her, “Since it’s settled, just focus on the company without any psychological burden.”

Zhang Wenqi obediently nodded and said, “Thank you, sis, thank you, brother-in-law.”

“Let’s go,” Xia Xiyin said, patting her head as she watched her descend the stairs.

Once the door closed, Xia Xiyin looked apologetically at Zhou Yu’an. “Sorry. I know you always keep work and personal matters separate and dislike such nepotism. I feel bad making an exception for me.”

Zhou Yu’an gave her a reassuring smile. “I’m strict with others, but when it comes to my girlfriend’s family, that doesn’t apply. It’s their first time approaching me, so I couldn’t refuse. Besides, it’s not a big deal.”

At that moment, Xia Xiaoman came over and interjected, “With an aunt as opportunistic as that, the first time is never the last.”

Zhou Yu’an didn’t mind. Anything that could be solved with resources or money was the simplest.

But Xia Xiyin thought to herself—she certainly would not let her aunt have a second chance!

The next morning, after washing up and having breakfast, when they returned to the room to change clothes, Zhou Yu’an stood with hands on hips in front of the wardrobe and said, “Yinyin, help me pick out an outfit.”

Xia Xiyin, putting on her earrings, walked over and said, “Sure. You usually wear too many dark colors. Let’s go for something brighter today.”

She finished putting on her earrings and selected a light gray casual suit paired with a white T-shirt underneath, looking much more relaxed than formal attire.

“Is this okay?” she asked, holding it up against him. “Do you think it might be too informal?”

Zhou Yu’an nodded with satisfaction. “Not bad, quite good. Let’s go with this.”

Xia Xiyin chose an outfit in a similar shade, matching perfectly.

At the company, Xia Xiyin and Zhou Yu’an still took the executive elevator to the upper floors together.

When the elevator reached the eighth floor, before he could say anything, she took the initiative and planted a gentle kiss on him. “I’ll come find you at noon.”

“If you miss me in the morning, you can come look for me too,” Zhou Yu’an teased, pinching her cheek affectionately.

Xia Xiyin blushed and stepped out of the elevator.

Zhou Yu’an reached the top floor, and as soon as he stepped out, Secretary Chen approached him. Seeing the boss’s unusually casual attire, she was momentarily stunned, her mouth forming an “oh.”

“Good morning, Mr. Zhou.”

Zhou Yu’an nodded lightly, walked a few steps, then stopped and said to her, “Starting today, don’t schedule any lunches for me. Move them all to the afternoon.”

“Yes, Mr. Zhou,” Secretary Chen replied. “Manager Guan is here, waiting for you in the office.”

Zhou Yu’an entered the office and saw Guan Hanzhong standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, twisting his body in exercise.

Hearing the door open, he glanced back without stopping his movements and, like a boss scolding, said, “Why are you so late? Are you still the workaholic you once were?”

“I’m in a relationship now. Who still wants to be a workaholic?” Zhou Yu’an said confidently as he sat behind his desk.

Guan Hanzhong clicked his tongue twice. “Having a girlfriend really changes things. Who are you trying to intimidate?”

“You’re here early. What’s up?” Zhou Yu’an asked.

Guan Hanzhong sighed, made a gathering gesture, and sat opposite him. “I told Ciyuan and the others about your girlfriend. We’ve planned a get-together. Bring your little girlfriend tonight.”
