Chapter 5: The Heroine Becomes the Supporting Character
No communication, let alone pen pals!
Tian Chuying was so shocked that she felt helpless, instinctively standing up and staring blankly.
The onlookers, whose mouths had already been wide open, now seemed to form trumpet shapes.
Whoa!!!
What’s going on? Why is there another twist?
Who is telling the truth after all?
Tian Chuying turned pale and glanced at Tian Xiang.
The latter shrugged with a smug look, as if enjoying a spectacle.
Tian Chuying grew agitated. “Impossible! Everything I just said is the truth. Lu Feng would never deny it. You must be trying to cheat me, or he must have his reasons.
I demand to meet Lu Feng!”
Impossible, impossible, absolutely impossible. Last night, she had clearly discussed everything with Lu Feng; the pen pal idea was even his suggestion.
Though the blind date was under Tian Xiang’s identity, Tian Chuying had already confessed everything yesterday.
Lu Feng was somewhat angry about her assuming another’s identity—this was too chaotic—but he seemed to have feelings after all. After all, Lu’s mother had given her blessing and had already responded to the matchmaker.
Last night, after Tian Chuying’s heartfelt confession, Lu Feng agreed to start dating.
Having come this far, he had no reason to stab her in the back.
Her gaze grew even firmer; she must see Lu Feng.
Before the matter was clarified, the parties involved could not meet.
Chairman Jiang put down his pen and looked at her sternly. “Comrade Tian Chuying, this is the police station. Every word and action carries responsibility. This is not a game.”
Tian Chuying paid no heed. “You’re just scared, hiding something in your hearts! Let me tell you the truth: we’ve already resolved the misunderstanding and started dating. Lu Feng wouldn’t deny it. You’re deliberately trying to cheat me!”
By the end, Tian Chuying’s tone had taken on a hint of throwing a tantrum.
The two officers who had previously taken testimony were speechless.
One of them said, “Comrade Tian Chuying, Lu Feng not only denied corresponding with you but was very clear with us: there’s nothing between you two—pure and clean. Yesterday was merely a farce with no romantic relationship. Though you made a mistake, he understood and even spoke up for you. He wants you to sincerely apologize to Comrade Tian Xiang and put this matter to rest.”
After speaking to Tian Chuying, the officer turned to Tian Xiang. “Your hitting her was provoked. Lu Feng said it was a misunderstanding; he’s not pursuing it and even wants to apologize to you in person.”
If that was indeed the case, one could hardly blame Lu Feng.
Tian Chuying had impersonated her sister for the blind date; he wasn’t aware!
No wonder he was considered an exemplary worker in the factory, with high ideological awareness and a kind, generous nature.
Their earnest words caused Tian Chuying’s heart to sink bit by bit.
Something was off.
Yesterday, everything was fine; how could he deny it today?
Tian Chuying shot a resentful glare at Tian Xiang.
It was her—she must have said something bad to Lu Feng to make him misunderstand.
“Tian Xiang, what exactly did you do to him?”
Tian Xiang looked at her coldly.
What did she do? Just slapped him!
But now…
Seeing the words “Reborn Female Protagonist” on Tian Chuying’s forehead blur and swirl into “Supporting Female 4 (Reborn),” a complex expression flickered in Tian Xiang’s eyes—perhaps mocking her for getting what she deserved or blaming Lu Feng for being scoundrelly.
Tian Chuying had only been the heroine for a day before turning into a supporting character.
The supporting female in a harem novel:
A charming and passionate woman among the many characters captured by the alluring male lead, entangled in complicated emotional relationships with him. Though not the protagonist, she is captivating—be it bewitching beauty, gentle kindness, or clever charm—and has a unique appeal that the male lead finds hard to let go of, ultimately becoming part of his harem.
Look at that!
So early in the morning, the heroine is done for, and this scoundrel is still dreaming of being emperor!
Fortunately, that scoundrel was not present; otherwise, Tian Xiang might have been tempted to crack his skull open.
As for the furious Tian Chuying, despite Lu Feng’s betrayal, she couldn’t let go of him. Instead, she vented her anger on herself rather than on the treacherous man.
Tian Xiang pointed at her with exasperation. “He’s right next door! Go ask him yourself what I did to him!”
Tian Chuying’s lips trembled with rage; she clenched her teeth and rushed out.
The two officers standing at the door did not stop her.
Everyone had come to the police station today mainly to handle Tian Xiang’s assault on Lu Feng.
Now that the victim Lu Feng was not pursuing charges, the case was closed; everyone could pack up and leave.
As for Tian Xiang’s accusation that Lu Feng was involved in promiscuity—that required evidence.
The onlookers hurriedly gathered their things and left to see the commotion elsewhere.

Soon, only Lin Yao and Chairman Jiang Qin remained in the office.
Chairman Jiang, known for fairness and integrity, was still tidying her work notes after everyone else had left.
Tian Xiang approached.
“Chairman Jiang, I stand by my earlier position: Lu Feng toyed with the feelings of female comrades. He is not innocent and is particularly despicable.”
Jiang Qin closed her notebook, her expression serious. “Comrade Tian Xiang, I understand your resentment over your sister’s meddling in your blind date. But from another perspective, Lu, a fellow worker in our factory, is also a victim. You should broaden your mind instead of labeling him over one incident. Everything requires evidence.”
Tian Xiang: “...”
Why does everyone think he’s a good person?
Is this the protagonist’s halo?
Her expression equally serious, Tian Xiang said, “Chairman Jiang, I understand. For the sake of the vast female comrades, I will find the evidence and lay it before you. I only hope the machinery factory will not cover it up.”
Jiang Qin smiled. “As long as I’m here, no one dares to cover for anyone!”
“Good.”
Tian Xiang felt reassured.
The two walked out one after the other.
Meanwhile, in the courtyard, the onlookers stood by the windows or pretended to be cleaning, all eyes fixed on Tian Chuying and Lu Feng under the jujube tree not far away.
Officer Zhang and Officer Guo shared their sunflower seeds with colleagues from Hongwu Street.
They secretly bet on whether Tian Chuying would end up crying in front of Lu Feng.
She deserved to cry.
Snatching her sister’s blind date was just too disgraceful.
Chairman Jiang came out and lightly cleared her throat at the door. The onlookers snapped back into work mode and prepared to leave with the leader.
Under the jujube tree, Lu Feng saw Tian Xiang come out and said to Tian Chuying, whose eyes were red from indignation, “I didn’t expect your sister to come over. She’s clearly hurt and upset.
Ultimately, this is all our fault.
Chuying, I am an exemplary worker in the factory and a model learner of the unit. I must be strict with myself and brave enough to admit and correct my mistakes…”
