Chapter Thirteen: The Right Eye Pierces the Heart
Xu Yi’s unwavering gaze unsettled Scar immediately.
Scar’s inner thoughts: “Why is this kid staring at me like that? And with such excitement? Damn it! Does this kid have some weird fetish or something?”
At that thought, Scar tensed instinctively.
Hearing Scar’s inner voice, Xu Yi rolled his eyes.
But Xu Yi had no time to entertain Scar’s wild imagination. He hadn’t expected his right eye’s ability to activate at such a moment—and that it allowed him to hear others’ inner thoughts.
Left eye for X-ray vision, right eye for mind reading.
How could Xu Yi not be thrilled by such a remarkable power?
Since he could read minds, Xu Yi immediately repeated the same question to Scar.
This time, through his “mind-reading” ability, Xu Yi clearly knew Scar was telling the truth.
Relieved to have settled that concern, Xu Yi exhaled deeply, his excitement easing.
He pondered a moment, then handed Scar the photo of a vehicle captured earlier that morning on the spice monitoring footage.
“Take a look at this car. Is it from your East Sea Gang?”
Scar glanced briefly and replied, “The car’s probably provided by the East Sea Gang, but the license plate’s clearly fake.”
“The business of fake plates also falls under Madman’s territory. If you want info on the plates, you can go find Madman.”
Xu Yi noticed Scar kept subtly pointing the finger at Madman.
With a meaningful tone, Xu Yi said, “You seem to have some grudge against this Madman. Are you trying to use me to deal with him?”
Scar shook his head outwardly, “No! I’m just answering your questions honestly!”
Inside, Scar thought: “That’s right, I’m the unlucky one here. If Madman finds out, he won’t let me off, and neither will my enemies. Let those two dogs fight it out! Let them all die!”
Xu Yi sneered coldly. He didn’t fear Scar’s schemes, as long as Scar wasn’t lying to him.
He took back the photo and fell into thought.
Though the East Sea Gang lead was cut off, it wasn’t completely dead; Madman and Brother Hao were still possible breakthroughs.
Plus, he had just awakened the “right eye mind-reading” ability, so overall, today hadn’t been a loss.
Next, Xu Yi pondered how to extract what he wanted from Madman.
While Xu Yi was deep in thought, Scar cautiously spoke.
“I’ve answered all your questions. Can you let me go now?”
Scar’s inner voice: “Luckily, this guy didn’t ask where the money is. No problem—as long as there’s money, I, Scar, can make a comeback!”
Hearing Scar’s inner monologue, Xu Yi couldn’t help but laugh.
...
A few minutes later, Xu Yi opened the door.
Outside, Huang Daba and the others immediately stood up.
“Brother Yi!”
Huang Daba greeted respectfully, tinged with fear.
Compared to yesterday, the only difference was a hint of admiration in Huang Daba’s tone.
The reason was simple: during Xu Yi’s half-hour interrogation of Scar, news of his hospital exploits had reached Huang Daba.
Five minutes! One person took out 18 of Scar’s men without a scratch!
This wasn’t just impressive—it was godlike!
Not only Huang Daba, but the others looked at Xu Yi with awe.
Xu Yi dragged the bound Scar out and tossed him to Huang Daba. Scar looked utterly defeated, as if soulless.
Xu Yi said plainly, “I promised this kid I’d spare his life. I don’t care what you do next, but leave Scar alone.”
“Of course! As compensation, Scar is willing to hand over all the money he owes. A total of ten million! Scar, what’s your stance?”
“How... how much?” Huang Daba stammered at the figure.
Scar wanted to cry but had no tears, utterly frustrated.
He hadn’t expected to buy his life with money in the end.
Xu Yi seemed like a worm inside his gut—he could read his every thought. There was no way out; he had to hand over all the money.
Not just the amount—the moment Xu Yi had his leverage and secrets, if those spread, not only would the authorities come after him, but his enemies wouldn’t let him off either.
This guy was inhuman!
Scar reluctantly said, “Fine! I can give you all ten million, but only if you don’t maim me and let me go. I’ll leave East Sea City.”
That settled the matter for now. After a brief chat with Huang Daba, Huang Daba left with Scar, excited but confident Scar wouldn’t back out with Brother Yi around.
Once everyone left, Xu Yi departed too.
He still had other matters to attend to, like studying his “right eye mind-reading” ability.
But when he returned to his rented room, fatigue suddenly overwhelmed him, and he soon fell into a drowsy sleep...
The next day, Xu Yi woke up at noon.
He was shocked—after his physical transformation, sleeping this late was impossible.
He soon realized it was due to mental exhaustion caused by using the “right eye mind-reading” ability yesterday.
In other words, activating this power drained his mental energy.
That meant Xu Yi couldn’t use it indefinitely—it wasn’t like his left eye, which could be used continuously.
He immediately grew cautious, reviewed his usage from yesterday, then went out to test the ability, drawing three conclusions:
First, no fatigue was felt during use; the exhaustion hit about an hour afterward.
Second, using the power for half an hour required about three hours to recover.
Third, if used less than ten minutes at a time, no sudden fatigue would strike, but once usage exceeded half an hour cumulatively, exhaustion followed.
After summarizing, Xu Yi breathed a sigh of relief.
Though limited, the “right eye mind-reading” was still extremely powerful; he just needed to monitor usage time.
Beep, beep, beep—
At that moment, Xu Yi’s phone buzzed with a message.
Opening it, he saw texts from the bank and Huang Daba.
“Dear customer of XX Bank, your account ending 9509 received a transfer of 5,000,000 yuan on June 16.”
“Brother Yi! Just a small token. If you ever need anything, just say the word. Little Leopard is always at your service!”
Xu Yi’s eyes lit up.
Huang Daba was playing it smart!
He quickly realized this five million had come from Huang Daba seizing funds from Scar.
Xu Yi smiled faintly and called Huang Daba, who answered instantly.
“Brother Yi!” Huang Daba greeted respectfully.
“I received the money. Thanks! How’s it going on your side? Did you secure Scar’s position?” Xu Yi asked calmly.
Huang Daba excitedly said, “Brother Yi! Don’t mention it. Without you, I’d never have taken Scar’s spot, not even in my dreams. Rest assured, everyone thinks Scar ran off after offending his enemies. Brother Hao has officially appointed me as his successor.”
Xu Yi nodded and continued, “Good. Let’s keep cooperating. As I asked yesterday, I want to talk with Brother Hao or Madman. Can you arrange that?”
Huang Daba cautiously replied, “Brother Yi! If we don’t want to cause too much commotion, I just took the position. I hope you can give me some time. Is that okay?”
Xu Yi sighed. From their conversation yesterday, he knew Madman and Brother Hao were far more troublesome than Scar. Achieving his goals through force would be difficult.
Slow and steady was the best strategy, so Xu Yi appreciated Huang Daba’s honesty.
“Understood. Contact me when you have leads.” Xu Yi ended the call.
Since the East Sea Gang lead had stalled, he could try investigating the Huo family next.
But before that, he needed a complete makeover.
After all, Xu Yi now had savings of 5.95 million yuan.
With so much money, it would be a shame not to spend some.
“Then I’ll start by buying a car!” Xu Yi thought, stepping out the door.
