Although Xu Yi’s voice was not loud, the exhibition hall was so spacious that the other four people present heard him perfectly clearly.

Liu Mei knitted her two tattooed eyebrows together, her expression darkening. Then she shrieked, “Xu Yi! You bastard, are you sick? I was only kindly warning you. What kind of attitude is that?”

As she spoke, Liu Mei turned around, grabbed the tall man by the arm, and shook it coquettishly. “Brother Feng! He’s bullying me. Will you teach him a lesson for me?”

Looking down at Xu Yi from his superior height, the tall man glanced at him and barked arrogantly, “Boy! Who gave you the nerve to insult my woman? Get over here and kneel down to apologize this instant!”

Zhao Yating frowned. “Xu Yi! Xiaomei was only greeting you. We’re all classmates—why are you acting like this? You should hurry up and apologize.”

The moment Xu Yi heard Zhao Yating’s voice, the slight irritation he had felt instantly became intense annoyance.

He turned to look at her.

“Classmates? Ha. I wouldn’t dare call someone like you my classmate. After graduation, there was no connection between us anymore. Likewise, you have no right to make demands of me.”

“Get lost!”

Xu Yi looked at Zhao Yating with a mocking smile.

Zhao Yating shook her head. “Xu Yi! You’ve always been this self-righteous. I’m giving you this final warning for old times’ sake. I’m doing this for your own good! Go apologize at once! You have no idea who you’ve offended.”

Xu Yi stared at her in disbelief, as though he had just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.

“You want me to apologize for my own good? You really have no shame.”

Zhao Yating merely gave him an indifferent glance before continuing, “Whether you believe me or not is your problem, Xu Yi. Perhaps you think I wronged you back then, but I did nothing wrong. What I wanted was something you could never give me. In my eyes, all the things you did for me were worthless.”

“That’s why the two of us were always people from different worlds. I never wronged you. Since you refuse to listen to advice, don’t blame me for no longer caring about our past friendship.”

Zhao Yating delivered these words from on high, as though a superior were offering pity to someone beneath her.

She wore exquisite makeup and a fashionable dress that accentuated her graceful figure. In terms of appearance, Zhao Yating was certainly attractive—at least an eight out of ten.

Yet Xu Yi suddenly found her disgusting.

Throughout their four years at university, Xu Yi had acted like a lovesick fool, catering to Zhao Yating in every way. He would save her a seat in class, bring her water when she was thirsty, and buy her food when she was hungry. He had pampered her like a princess.

Even though Zhao Yating was vain and expected gifts from Xu Yi on every holiday, he had supported her without complaint through part-time jobs. In return, however, Zhao Yating had never done anything for Xu Yi.

The classmates around Xu Yi, including Li Mengjing, had all tried to persuade him, telling him that the two of them were simply incompatible.

When Xu Yi furiously confronted her, Zhao Yating tearfully claimed that Wu Zhiyong had raped her.

Burning with rage, Xu Yi went straight to confront Wu Zhiyong. But Wu Zhiyong had prepared in advance. He deliberately put up no resistance and arranged for someone to film the incident from the side, preserving the evidence.

The matter grew more serious by the day and eventually reached the police station.

But in the end, Zhao Yating claimed that she and Wu Zhiyong had been in love with each other, that theirs was true love, and that she had long since had nothing to do with Xu Yi. She said Xu Yi had been harassing her all along.

From that day onward, Xu Yi’s love collapsed completely. His whole-hearted devotion had been thrown to the dogs. Worse still, because he had attacked someone, he was expelled from the university martial arts team and permanently barred from working in the martial arts industry.

In the end, if not for his mentor Li Zhengdong stepping forward to vouch for him, Xu Yi might not even have been able to keep his student status.

From that day on, Xu Yi became a laughingstock throughout the entire university.

Now, hearing Zhao Yating dismiss all of his past efforts with such a careless remark, Xu Yi felt that he truly must have been blind. How could he ever have fallen for a woman like this?

Xu Yi said in disgust, “That suits me perfectly! Zhao Yating, are you finished? If you are, then get lost. Just looking at you makes me sick.”

“Bah!” Liu Mei jumped in again, sneering. “You’re the one who should leave! Look at your shabby, poverty-stricken appearance. Why don’t you take a good look at yourself? The cars here are prepared for people with status and standing. What are you supposed to be?”

“Yating! Don’t waste your breath on someone like him. He’s deliberately pretending not to care in order to attract your attention. Let Brother Feng teach him a proper lesson.”

Xu Yi was so angry that he nearly laughed. “You think I’m pretending, just to attract her?”

Liu Mei swept her eyes over him with contempt. “Isn’t that exactly what you’re doing? Back in university, you clung to Yating relentlessly before finally managing to win her over. Too bad you have no self-awareness. With a pathetic pauper like you, how could you possibly be worthy of Yating?”

“Besides, how could a poor loser like you have come to a place like this? You probably found out that we were here looking at cars and secretly followed us, didn’t you? If you’re hoping to win Yating back, I can only say that you’re daydreaming!”

Liu Mei unleashed one insult after another, showing from head to toe that she did not regard Xu Yi at all.

Xu Yi felt that the two women before him were beyond saving. They were so absurd that he was completely speechless. He no longer wished to pay attention to either of them.

He then turned to Zeng Lili, who had been waiting nearby, and said calmly, “I’ll take this one. Everything about it feels quite good, and I’m very satisfied. If I go with the top configuration you mentioned, how much will it cost?”

Zeng Lili’s eyes lit up. Xu Yi was pointing at the newest model of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The top configuration was worth roughly two million yuan, well within Xu Yi’s budget.

If Xu Yi really bought the G-Class, she would immediately receive a commission of fifty thousand yuan!

“Heh! Some people really aren’t afraid of biting their tongues when they brag!”

“Boy! This isn’t a car someone like you can afford. You need to face reality. People should drive cars suited to their station, and this one is beyond your means.”

The tall man, who had been watching coldly from the side, shook his head at Xu Yi in disdain.

Then, with a hint of greed in his eyes, he looked at Zeng Lili and said, “Beautiful, don’t let this loser fool you. How could he possibly afford a G-Class, let alone the top model? That would cost at least two million yuan!”

“If your manager finds out that you casually let someone like him test-drive a car from the showroom, you may not even be able to keep your job.”

Liu Mei also gave a mocking laugh. “Xu Yi! Did you hear that? This car costs two million yuan. What do you think this is, a vegetable market?”

Zhao Yating looked at Xu Yi coldly, completely unmoved.

Xu Yi said calmly, “Who says I can’t afford it? What if I can?”

“Bullshit!” The tall man burst out laughing. “If you can afford this car, I’ll eat it whole!”

“Still, if you can’t afford it, you’d better come over here and kneel down to apologize.”

“Is that so? Then you’d better have a good appetite.”

Xu Yi calmly reached into his coat and pulled out a bank card.
