Chapter 23: Foresight
Li Fengyin, still leaning back with his right leg not yet retracted, collapsed onto the floor. Immediately, he braced a palm against the ground, pivoted his body in mid-air half a meter high, and unleashed a horizontal kick.
Even Leng Xin, the "Hidden Shura," was surprised by this move. Although it lacked sufficient force, the agility of her opponent was extraordinary. However, the kick landed once more on the Hidden Shura’s side, causing her to stagger back only half a step.
On the other side, Shen Liangxin faced the man whose right arm had transformed into a blade of crimson iron sand. The red sand radiated steam, its temperature scorching.
"Scorching Shura!"
In an instant, Shen Liangxin identified the opponent’s attribute. Legend had it that the iron sand of a Scorching Shura possessed extreme heat; even from two or three meters away, Shen Liangxin felt waves of heat washing over her like a blast furnace. She swung her steel pipe, knowing that escape was unlikely and that she had to fight to the death.
As Li Fengyin was still rising, the Hidden Shura brought her body down in a powerful overhead strike. Yet, this played right into Li Fengyin’s prediction; he suddenly kicked upward, catching her arm squarely. The strike was interrupted, and the sheer force of the blow temporarily dislocated her right arm.
Li Fengyin performed a kip-up and stood tall. Realizing that stealth was nearly useless, the Hidden Shura deactivated her invisibility amidst the chaotic, flickering lights of the dance hall. As her form materialized, she revealed herself as a cold, exquisitely beautiful woman.
The next moment, Leng Xin, the Hidden Shura, abruptly moved her right arm. With a sharp *click*, she popped her joint back into place. For a martial arts master, a dislocation was a minor inconvenience. At the tip of her right hand was another blade, but unlike the heat of the Scorching Shura, her arm was a deep, icy blue, radiating a chilling aura.
"Cold-Forging Shura!" Li Fengyin assessed.
Meanwhile, the steel pipe in Shen Liangxin’s hand had been sliced in half and fell to the floor. She was now unarmed, but the Scorching Shura proved to be lacking in agility. Li Fengyin kept his distance from the icy woman, the two locked in a brief standoff. On the other side, Shen Liangxin put distance between herself and the Scorching Shura, maneuvering through the gaps between tables and chairs. The Scorching Shura ignored these obstacles, slashing through everything in his path with his burning blades as he charged toward his target.
The entire dance hall had descended into chaos.
Most of the fleeing guests had already cleared out, and the manager, Zhi Wu, had also departed at Li Fengyin’s signal. Now, only Li Fengyin, Shen Liangxin, and the two Shuras remained.
With a roar, the Scorching Shura, Zhixin, missed Shen Liangxin’s dodging figure and slammed into the wall. Without losing momentum, he swung his arm horizontally. In an instant, bricks shattered, leaving a deep gash in the wall. Shen Liangxin had crouched down just in time; she had used her reserve quantum sensing to predict the Scorching Shura’s intent. Copying Li Fengyin’s earlier move with a slight variation, she swept her leg, throwing the Scorching Shura off balance so that he tumbled toward the opposite side of the wall.
Stabbing his blade into the floor, Zhixin prevented himself from falling and quickly righted his posture. Shen Liangxin seized the opportunity to widen the gap; the opponent’s movement speed was still within her reaction range, but the sensation of dancing on the razor’s edge forced her to remain deathly calm.
Just then, a bullet struck the Scorching Shura’s head. *Bang!* With the sound of metal colliding, a dent appeared at Zhixin’s temple. However, his body was composed of Shura iron sand, so the attack was not fatal. He needed time to recover—only about ten seconds—but that was enough for Shen Liangxin to retreat.
Seeing the Scorching Shura standing still, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Shen Liangxin’s two bodyguards resumed their duties. The Cold-Forging Shura retreated step by step toward the Scorching Shura; he was her only partner, and even as emotionless Shuras, they understood the importance of the bond. The two bodyguards closed in on Shen Liangxin, and Li Fengyin disengaged from the fray.
"Do you want to leave?" It was Leng Xin who spoke first, her voice cold and raspy.
Zhixin, the Scorching Shura, did not speak. The crater on the side of his head was rapidly repairing itself. The next moment, a large amount of Shura iron sand fell from his arms, gradually taking shape and condensing into two clones similar to his main body.
"Shadow Shura!" Li Fengyin realized the true nature of this Scorching Shura’s power.
"One final push!" Zhixin’s voice was deep. He understood that if they did not resolve this quickly, they would lose their chance to escape and be captured by the police or specialized government departments.
The three "Zhixins" charged at Li Fengyin with similar speed—he was their primary target. Meanwhile, Leng Xin, the Shura, turned invisible once more, ready to ambush the two armed bodyguards.
Li Fengyin frowned slightly and warned, "She’s invisible. I’ll find a way to hold her off; you attack the other three targets!"
With that, Li Fengyin stared at the translucent figure in his peripheral vision and kicked a dining table toward her; unsurprisingly, it was sliced in two. Li Fengyin did not intend to repeat the same trick. The most important thing now was to stall for time. Based on the situation, even conventional firearms were not enough to pose a lethal threat to them, and the situation remained unfavorable for his side.
Shen Liangxin took a handgun from the female bodyguard. She had practiced shooting before; it was merely a transition from targets to real combat, and she did not feel afraid.
"Bang! Bang!"
Several bullets were fired, striking sparks and craters into the Scorching Shura and his two clones, but they could not stop their advance. By now, Zhixin had almost completely lost his human appearance. Shen Liangxin took every opportunity to provide cover fire for Li Fengyin. Whenever Li Fengyin broke the line of sight between himself and the Hidden Shura, she fired decisively, allowing Li Fengyin to strike again.
It had to be said that the Cold-Forging Shura’s physical properties were terrifying. Li Fengyin’s soles were still numb and tingling from the two kicks he had landed earlier, though fortunately, it was nothing serious. Their synergy seemed to deepen; under the influence of quantum entanglement, it was as if they shared a single mind.
Three minutes later, the wail of police sirens echoed outside the dance hall. Zhixin and Leng Xin had still failed to achieve their goal.
Just then, the Vengeful Ghost leaped out from the shadow behind Li Fengyin, grabbing the red-cord pendant hanging from his neck once more. Yet, this seemed to be within Li Fengyin’s expectations; he reached out and caught the ghost’s wrist firmly.
*Foresight.*
A unique trait belonging to the Sage, which had allowed Li Fengyin to evade many dangers until now.
