Just waking up, An’an’s mind hadn’t caught up yet; she had forgotten that Yin Yuanxun said he would leave today. So the moment she opened her eyes, she began looking for him. Cheng Han dressed her while comforting her gently. It wasn’t until An’an finished breakfast that she finally realized Yin Yuanxun had already gone.

Clutching the phone Yin Yuanxun had bought for her, An’an sought out Cheng Han and asked him to make a video call to Yin Yuanxun. This was something Yin Yuanxun had taught her. As soon as the call connected, before she even saw who was on the screen, An’an cheerfully greeted, “Good morning, Susu~”

“Good morning, little one. Who do you belong to?” The voice was unfamiliar, and An’an gazed at the face on the screen that clearly wasn’t Yin Yuanxun’s, falling into contemplation.

“Susu, why have you changed?” An’an couldn’t understand how in just one night, Yin Yuanxun seemed like an entirely different person. The man on the other end was momentarily startled by An’an’s innocent words, then burst into laughter. Cheng Han, standing nearby and able to see the phone screen, covered his mouth to chuckle quietly, careful not to let An’an notice.

An’an tilted her head in puzzlement, unaware of what made her “uncle” laugh. Then, she heard Yin Yuanxun’s voice coming from the phone, “Hey Grandpa, give the phone back to me.”

An’an tilted her head again. The “uncle” on the screen’s mouth hadn’t moved, so how did she hear Susu’s voice? Her confusion was apparent, and finally, the man on the phone stopped teasing her and handed the phone back to Yin Yuanxun.

Seeing the familiar face, An’an sighed, “Susu, I almost thought you transformed. It was so strange just now—you weren’t yourself.”

“But now, you’ve turned back!”

Yin Yuanxun laughed at her words, “An’an, you’re really adorable.”

“An’an, that was my grandpa just now. Well… you can call him great-grandpa. Oh, it doesn’t matter; you two won’t be seeing each other anyway.”

“You little brat, what are you saying!” As the words fell, Yin Yuanxun was promptly slapped on the head by the old master, staggering him sideways.

The old man’s slap packed quite a punch. Yin Yuanxun had returned home early that morning and was planning to sneak away quietly with his things, but the old master had been waiting in ambush and caught him red-handed, effectively detaining him.

Afterward, An’an called him, but the old master snatched the phone away, which led to the earlier mix-up where An’an mistook the person on the screen.

The old master squeezed in beside Yin Yuanxun, nudging him aside to take up half the phone screen. “Little girl, your name is An’an, right? An’an, I am your great-grandpa. Come find me to play when you have time, okay?”

An’an nodded eagerly, replying, “Okay, okay~”

Yin Yuanxun asked, “An’an, what did you want to talk to uncle about?”

An’an said, “Susu, An’an missed you. An’an just woke up, but Susu isn’t here. An’an wants to see Susu, so An’an called him.”

Yin Yuanxun was deeply moved by her words. “You’re truly uncle’s dear little sweetheart. How about uncle comes to pick you up to play for a few days?”

An’an immediately brightened, “Susu, An’an has to go eat now. Bye, Susu.”

She quickly ended the call, then patted her chest with her small hands. “An’an was so scared—almost got tricked by Susu.”

Cheng Han covered his mouth, stifling a laugh. Miss An’an was truly adorable.

With no adults left at home to play with An’an, she went by herself to the small garden to talk to the koi fish in the pond. Nearby, Uncle Lin had specially installed a small sunshade. An’an sat there perfectly sheltered beneath it.

Perched on a small stool, she wasn’t exactly sitting but using it to support her little bottom, easing the effort. She leaned over the pond’s edge, sliding her chubby hands gently through the water.

“Fishies, An’an did lots and lots of good things today. Are you hungry? An’an will feed you.”

The koi, once swimming at the bottom, floated up to gather around her hands, occasionally brushing against her softly like the touch of feathers.

Bubbles surfaced in response to An’an’s words.

An’an beamed joyfully at the fish surrounding her.

She felt a tickle by her leg, propped herself up on her hands at the edge of the pond, and leaned back slightly to look down.

A leaf, blown from somewhere, had landed by her leg and slid down along it.

An’an: ?

She jumped down from the stool, bent to pick up the leaf, then placed it into the water at the pond’s edge, feeding it to the koi.

After a while, feeling bored, An’an got up and began wandering around the garden.

Since they were inside the villa, monitored by surveillance cameras, Uncle Lin and the others didn’t follow An’an. The villa was very safe, so constant supervision wasn’t necessary. Besides, they had previously followed her for a while, but An’an disliked it, so they stopped with the consent of Lu Jinqiao.

As An’an wandered, she eventually found herself deep in the woods.

She explored here and there, becoming confused and unable to find her way back.

Scratching her little cheek, she murmured, “Where is this place?”

Looking around, she had no idea how to return, so she sat down against a tree.

Beside her was a small shoulder bag containing candy and a small bun.

At that moment, An’an was hungry and took out the bun to eat. After finishing, she looked around and carefully put the wrapping back into the bag.

The tree bark was mottled and rough; leaning against it for long would be uncomfortable, especially for a tender-skinned child like An’an.

She hadn’t leaned for long before the discomfort grew. Turning around, she sat cross-legged facing the sturdy phoenix tree.

Looking up, she almost fell backward in surprise.

“Oh wow, so big.”

A breeze had risen, rustling the leaves.

An’an raised her chubby arm to shield her eyes from the wind. When she lowered it, she was nearly engulfed by the leaves.

Where so many leaves had come from, she had no idea—they all piled up around her.

Looking down at the leaves reaching her chest, she exclaimed, “Wow, amazing.”

“Ah!” An’an looked up, wide-eyed and flustered like a startled kitten, her eyes darting around as if wondering what had just poked her forehead.

The sudden prickling passed quickly.

But since An’an’s skin was delicate and her pain nerves sensitive, the spot had turned red, and she felt a slight ache.

Her small hands pressed against the leaves, trying to stand, but since they were just loosely piled, pressing down caused many leaves to scatter.

In that instant, she nearly fell.

After standing, she leaned back against the tree, clutching her clothes tightly with both hands, closed her eyes, and shouted loudly, “Come out quickly! Don’t bully An’an, or I’ll tell Daddy!”
