The force of evolution sent dust billowing into the sky, while a cold blue light flashed in RiseGreymon’s eyes, piercing through the haze.

“Grrr—”

He opened his mouth slightly, and steaming heat poured from it.

With his wild bearing and overwhelming presence, RiseGreymon’s appearance alone was enough to reveal just how powerful he was.

Even Tai exclaimed, “Wow… He looks cool.”

“Tch. He merely evolved into the same Ultimate level as MetalTyrannomon. It’s nothing special!”

Though the screen had already been blasted apart, Nanomon could still synchronize with the Digivice and access MetalTyrannomon’s field of vision.

He continued to argue through the arena’s loudspeakers.

“Exactly! What’s so cool about him?” Jealous Zeromaru chimed in.

Tai had never said I was cool!

MetalTyrannomon fired four more Giga Destroyer II shells in succession, but an attack that had once driven Greymon into a desperate retreat no longer posed the slightest threat to him.

The metal wings on his back spread wide. RiseGreymon twisted his upper body slightly, and the powerful pressure generated by the movement detonated the Giga Destroyer II shells in midair.

Taking advantage of the smoke that surged up from the explosions, RiseGreymon charged forward with a speed utterly disproportionate to his size.

His arms were exceptionally long. Compared with Greymon’s short limbs, resembling the limbs of a dinosaur in a textbook illustration, RiseGreymon’s proportions were clearly far better suited for combat.

His right arm, unburdened by the revolver, seized MetalTyrannomon’s right hand. The overwhelming force left MetalTyrannomon stunned. Then, with terrifying grip strength and a crisp crack, RiseGreymon crushed the device in MetalTyrannomon’s palm—the mechanism used to fire missiles.

An even more horrifying sight followed. Using only one arm, RiseGreymon lifted MetalTyrannomon high into the air. Though they were the same height, MetalTyrannomon was considerably bulkier. RiseGreymon then swung his revolver viciously into his opponent’s body.

“Solid Strike!”

“Boom!”

Amid earth-shaking tremors, the metal armor that had just endured several blasts of Nova Flame without a scratch shattered like a softened chocolate sandwich cookie. MetalTyrannomon himself was sent flying more than a hundred meters.

A single blow had left MetalTyrannomon gravely wounded. As Nanomon watched the data transmitted by the Digivice, he saw MetalTyrannomon’s combat power plummeting.

The outcome was decided.

“Tch. Even among Ultimates, there are still differences in strength.” Nanomon clicked his tongue, but he did not seem particularly disappointed.

After all, the main purpose of this fusion evolution had merely been to test the Digivice’s functions.

The fusion materials had been nothing more than the common Tyrannomon and Triceramon. For Nanomon, who had inherited Etemon’s legacy, Digimon of that caliber were available in abundance.

“Still, before we decide the winner, let me see this fellow’s full power.” Through MetalTyrannomon, Nanomon stared fixedly at RiseGreymon.

The Digivice in Nanomon’s hand released a great quantity of dark energy, sending MetalTyrannomon into a berserk state.

The tubes connected to his body snapped one after another. Nuclear Lasers of maximum power erupted from them, and five beams struck RiseGreymon simultaneously.

RiseGreymon first raised his revolver to shield himself. This terrifying weapon possessed a single-shot power even greater than that of a nuclear bomb, and to ensure the wielder’s safety, its barrel had been forged from exceptionally durable Chrome Digizoid.

Whether used to fire missiles, block attacks as a defensive weapon, or simply wielded as a close-combat weapon, it was an excellent choice.

The Nuclear Lasers could not even leave a mark on the barrel. RiseGreymon lightly beat his wings and soared into the sky at a speed almost indistinguishable from teleportation. The red armor on his chest opened, and together with the beam cannons mounted on his wings, it unleashed a barrage of energy blasts.

“Rise Destroyer!”

The attack struck MetalTyrannomon, triggering a terrifying explosion. Its scale was so vast that even several miles away, the ground could be felt trembling.

Fortunately, Tai reacted in time. Before the shock wave could reach him, he grabbed the dazed Gazimon, who had been staring blankly at the battle between gods, and fled the blast radius with Zeromaru.

MetalTyrannomon, having borne the brunt of the damage with his own body, dissolved into data amid the sea of flames. Tyrannomon and Triceramon, who had served as the materials for the fusion evolution, split apart once more into two separate individuals and collapsed unconscious on the ground.

RiseGreymon looked at the arena that had once tormented him so terribly. After the battle between two Ultimates, it had been reduced to complete ruins.

RiseGreymon opened his chest armor once again.

“Rise Destroyer!”

The last remaining fragments of the arena’s artificial shell vanished completely beneath the attack.

Gazing at the former site of the arena, now indistinguishable from the surrounding desert, RiseGreymon murmured:

“Farewell, prison.”

RiseGreymon would probably never forget this place for the rest of his life.

——————————

Tai gave RiseGreymon the location of NEO Village. It was time for him to honor their agreement and return to his followers.

With the arena that had served as Etemon’s territory destroyed, Tai immediately set out for his next destination.

A luxury liner racing across the desert.

Less than twenty hours had passed since Tai had landed on the Server Continent. His remarkable efficiency meant that the sky was still dark when he and Zeromaru reached the desert.

The desert at night was bitterly cold, but to Tai and Zeromaru, the piercing wind felt as refreshing as air-conditioning set to sixteen degrees Celsius in summer.

Indeed, with the cold wind blowing against him, Zeromaru felt that even the lingering effects of motion sickness had eased considerably. He was invigorated from head to toe.

Zeromaru threw both arms into the air and declared with great enthusiasm, “Let’s go! I barely got to show off at the arena. This time, I’m going to leave everyone speechless!”

Just as Zeromaru was brimming with confidence, a projector suddenly appeared before him and Tai.

“Hello there, Chosen Child.”

A figure appeared within the projection.

“Oh, it’s you! The thickheaded old man!” Tai recognized him at once.

“Cough, cough! I am Elder Gennai!” Elder Gennai reiterated his name with some annoyance.

“Whatever. You’re just an irresponsible old man who dumped the responsibility of saving the world on an elementary school student. I’ve always been a man who says exactly what he means, so I’ll be blunt.” Tai waved his hand. “What is it this time? Hurry up and tell me. Zeromaru and I still have a road to travel.”

That boy…

Elder Gennai was speechless. Then he noticed the Crest of Sincerity shining brightly around Tai’s neck.

Good grief. He had actually adapted to the power of two Crests in such a short time. This child was extraordinary. Just who was he?

Though his methods were a little… unconventional.

Thinking this, Elder Gennai continued calmly, “Oh my, what progress! It has only been a short while since we last met, yet you have already collected two Crests.”

“And judging by your appearance, I imagine you have already learned how to make the Crests shine.”

Tai said casually, “Courage and Sincerity. Does that mean the remaining five Crests each represent a different virtue?”

Elder Gennai nodded. “That’s right. In fact, I originally came to recommend that you visit Piximon and train there to master the power of the Crests. But it seems training is no longer necessary.”

“However, you still need to visit Piximon’s residence. Two Crests are hidden there.”

The projection immediately changed into a map.

“The red mark indicates Piximon’s residence. Once you cross this desert, go there first.”

“Got it.”

Tai had not expected Elder Gennai to provide genuinely useful information this time. He immediately used the Digivice to scan the map, then asked:

“By the way, do fairies have tails?”
