“The little yellow flowers of the story have been drifting since the year they were born. The childhood swings have been swaying in memory all the way until now.”

“Who is it?! Calling me so late at night?” After a busy evening, Lexin had finally managed to fall asleep, but before she'd slept long, her phone’s ringtone jolted her awake.

Lexin’s mood was foul, and the irritation of being woken up surged straight to her head. She was ready to give whoever was calling her a serious piece of her mind.

“You son of a—cough, cough—Sir, you must be working too hard, calling me so late at night!” Lexin almost let a curse slip, but her eyes caught the caller’s name on her screen just in time: Supervisor Chen. She stopped herself abruptly at the edge of disaster. If she really cursed at him, she’d be finished.

Supervisor Chen, the one calling Lexin, was her immediate boss. If she offended him, her job would vanish into thin air—by tomorrow she’d be out the door for good.

Supervisor Chen’s voice came through the phone, stern and direct: “Lexin, do you know what’s going on with your program?”

“Huh? Sir, the ratings for my show might not be great, but they’re at least passable, right? Please, don’t cancel my show!” Lexin was terrified by his simple question and immediately began to plead.

“What? What are you talking about? Why would I cancel your show? Sure, your ratings are pretty lousy, but that’s not the point,” Supervisor Chen said, bewildered by her panic.

“So—you’re not calling to tell me my show’s getting cut?” Lexin seemed to realize she’d jumped to the wrong conclusion; maybe she’d overacted.

“No, you’re overthinking it. I just called to ask why the latest episode of ‘Street Interviews’ featured Zhou Ran and Zhang Xiaofeng,” Supervisor Chen cut straight to the point.

“My latest episode… had Zhou Ran and Zhang Xiaofeng in it?” Lexin was stunned, her mouth agape, looking as though she’d been struck by lightning. It took her a long moment to recover.

She recounted everything that happened during the recording that day to Supervisor Chen, from start to finish.

“Well, you really are lucky!” Supervisor Chen was at a loss for words at Lexin’s explanation—it all sounded too absurd. But he had no choice but to accept it; it was the only reasonable explanation.

Supervisor Chen sighed, “It’s true—when luck is on your side, good things just fall into your lap. Lexin is the perfect example; just out interviewing random people and she runs into Zhou Ran and Zhang Xiaofeng. With that kind of luck, it’s a shame she doesn’t buy lottery tickets.”

“Oh my god, I actually interviewed my idol Zhou Ran? Ahhhh!” Only after hanging up the call did Lexin fully realize just how unbelievable her latest interview had been.

Not only had she interviewed Zhou Ran, who had vanished for an entire month, but also Zhang Xiaofeng?

Lexin felt as if she were dreaming—she wouldn’t have dared imagine something so outrageous.

She hurriedly opened her laptop, intending to rewatch the classic episode of “Street Interviews.”

But as soon as she clicked on the video, her screen was flooded with bullet comments, covering the entire frame. If she didn’t turn them off, she wouldn’t be able to see anything at all.

“Here for Zhou Ran!”

“My god! I couldn’t believe it was Zhou Ran at first!”

“What on earth happened to Zhou Ran in the past month? How did he end up like this?”

“Zhou Ran and Zhang Xiaofeng are so adorable together! I’m dying from the sweetness!”

“The love story between rising film star Zhang Xiaofeng and the original music prodigy Zhou Ran!”

“I can’t approve of this relationship!”

After just a few hours, this episode of “Street Interviews” skyrocketed in popularity, shooting straight to number one on Mango TV’s trending chart.

On Weibo’s hot search rankings, the “FengRan CP” tag had already claimed the top spot, and the hype was still climbing.

The comment section was bursting with heated discussion.

“Are Zhou Ran and Zhang Xiaofeng together now?”

“Wasn’t Zhou Ran supposed to be recording a new album? How did he end up looking like this? Honestly, he looks no different from a homeless person!”

“I’m suddenly shipping Zhou Ran and Zhang Xiaofeng so hard!”

“Miss Zhou and Mr. Zhang, oh my god!”

“I just want to know if their confessions to each other were real!”

“What happened to Zhou Ran this past month? He’s gotten so thin, you can practically see his bones.”

While the internet buzzed with wild speculation, our heroine, Zhang Xiaofeng, was frantically receiving call after call from her agent.

Seeing her phone light up non-stop, Zhang Xiaofeng felt her scalp tingle with dread.

Because the caller was her agent, Liu Wen, and Zhang Xiaofeng didn’t even need to think about it—her agent was definitely calling to chew her out. A furious tirade was inevitable.

After hesitating for a long time, Zhang Xiaofeng finally decided to answer Liu Wen’s call. After all, sooner or later she’d have to face the music—better to get it over with quickly. As she picked up, she held the phone far away from her ear.

“Zhang Xiaofeng, what are you doing?! Are you looking for trouble? What’s going on between you and Zhou Ran? For heaven’s sake, could you discuss things with us before you do anything?”

“Do you know how shocked I was when I heard the news? Your situation is already trending on Weibo’s hot search!”

“Can’t you at least give me a heads up before you do something? If you must date, could you be a little more discreet? For heaven’s sake!”

After seven or eight minutes of non-stop scolding, Liu Wen’s anger finally began to subside.

Not until Liu Wen’s voice returned to normal did Zhang Xiaofeng dare to bring the phone back to her ear; with the volume Liu Wen had been yelling at, Zhang’s eardrum would have been shattered.

“Oh, Wenjie, things between me and Zhou Ran aren’t as complicated as you think. We’d just finished a closed training session with Teacher Huang, and decided to go shopping for clothes together.”

“As for the interview, that was a total accident. We never expected to be interviewed. I thought they wouldn’t recognize us, so I casually said we were just good friends. There’s really nothing more to it, not what you’re imagining.” Zhang Xiaofeng recounted the whole story in detail to Liu Wen.

“Is that even possible?”
