Chapter 117: Mr. Gu
Feeling that Wen Jiu was watching him, the man flushed red and buried his head lower.
Wen Jiu had noticed that when everyone was laughing earlier, this man had shown no expression at all.
She searched her mind for fragments of memory about this classmate from high school, only to recall a few sparse details—and even his name had slipped her mind.
His presence had always been remarkably low-key. Just like now, he stayed in the corner without joining the others' conversations.
The man was slender, with a refined and handsome appearance that, thanks to his blush, made him look particularly adorable and innocent.
Noticing Wen Jiu's gaze, the man seemed to gather his courage and met her eyes.
The surrounding students erupted in another wave of teasing.
Wen Jiu subtly frowned.
At that moment, Xu Weiwen looked at Wen Jiu and spoke up, “JiuJiu, you’re in love now too. Your boyfriend must be very handsome. Where’s he from? Bring him over so we can meet him. He’ll definitely suit you perfectly.”
It was happening.
Wen Jiu raised an eyebrow, smiling as she replied, “Sure, I’ll send him a message. In that case, Weiwen, you should probably bring your boyfriend over for us to see as well.”
The classmates immediately chimed in, “Yeah, yeah! Weiwen, we haven’t even met Gu Zong yet. Do you think we’ll have the chance to see him?”
Xu Weiwen’s expression froze for a split second before returning to normal.
She maintained a graceful smile and said, “Alright, I’ll send him a message too. But he’s very busy, so I don’t know if he can make it.”
“Ha, Gu Zong spoils you so much, even if he’s busy he’ll definitely come.” One of the male students gave Xu Weiwen an exaggerated compliment.
Xu Weiwen feigned composure, picking up her phone to send a message.
Everyone continued chatting and drinking.
Wen Jiu no longer joined the conversation, instead talking with Shen Mengxia.
“JiuJiu, do you remember that guy from earlier? He liked you back in high school—it was common knowledge.”
“Common knowledge? Then how come I never heard about it? I don’t even remember his name.”
Wen Jiu sounded genuinely puzzled.
Shen Mengxia explained, “In high school you were completely focused on studying, so you missed a lot of things. I only found out after the final year. I was afraid it would distract you from your studies, so I didn’t tell you.”
Wen Jiu nodded. So that was the reason.
Glancing at the time, Gu Zehuai should be arriving soon. After dropping her off, he likely hadn’t gone far.
While calling Gu Zehuai, Wen Jiu gave him a brief explanation of the situation with Xu Weiwen.
Gu Zehuai replied with nothing but three periods.
Wen Jiu felt that even through the screen she could sense his silent exasperation.
Two minutes later, a waiter knocked on the door and entered the private room. “Excuse me, this is the Lafite wine ordered by Mr. Gu in this restaurant.”
Three waiters each carried a bottle as they filed in.
Facing the sudden appearance of the wine, the class monitor asked clearly, “May I ask which Mr. Gu this is and why it was ordered for us?”
The waiter explained respectfully, “It’s Mr. Gu Zehuai. He instructed the manager just now, saying it’s for his girlfriend who is joining the gathering tonight.”
Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes filled with envy as they looked at Xu Weiwen.
Although Xu Weiwen had no idea why Gu Zehuai had suddenly ordered the wine, she accepted the envious gazes with perfect composure.
She didn’t once consider that his girlfriend might be one of the students present.
Five minutes later, the door was knocked on again, and someone pushed it open.
The newcomer was tall and handsome, radiating an extraordinary presence. The private room instantly fell silent.
A classmate who had seen Gu Zehuai before exclaimed, “It’s Mr. Gu!”
