After stepping out of the elevator, Wen Jiu greeted the little boy and prepared to leave. She nodded lightly at Gu Zehuai and walked away.

Behind her, Gu Zehuai watched her departing figure, momentarily lost in thought.

Then, taking Gu Yulin’s hand, Gu Zehuai asked him quietly, “Do you really like this big sister?”

Gu Yulin nodded emphatically, and Gu Zehuai smiled in satisfaction.

Wen Jiu arrived at the café where she had agreed to meet about work.

She had accepted a costume design job for a film crew.

At this moment, the director and the head of the costume department were already seated, waiting for Wen Jiu’s arrival.

Wen Jiu approached the two, apologizing gently, “Sorry for keeping you waiting.”

Hearing her voice, both looked up. Their eyes brightened as they saw Wen Jiu.

This young woman was quite beautiful, and her appearance radiated a lively aura. If she were an actress, she would surely become popular.

Despite their musings, the director responded with a smile, “No worries, we’re still early for the appointment.”

The three then sat down to discuss work.

The drama was a Republic-era piece invested by an entertainment company under the Gu Group, featuring top-tier actors from the industry. The plot was engaging and captivating.

There was a major scene where the main characters attended a banquet dressed in formal evening wear.

Of course, formal wear was essential for the banquet scene. With the entertainment company’s substantial investment, funding was plentiful.

The crew had put considerable effort into costumes, striving to stay true to the original work and the characters themselves.

Thus, Wen Jiu was invited to serve as the costume designer for the film crew.

Her designs were already somewhat renowned, and the head of the costume department had heard of her. Even before Wen Jiu returned to the country, she had received an email outlining the basic requirements.

Wen Jiu had considered it—this was indeed a good opportunity to make her designs more widely known and to prepare for her future.

The costume department required the evening wear to be designed according to each character’s personality and the needs of the scenes.

After more than an hour of discussion, both sides reached an agreement, and the director and costume head left first.

There were still four months before filming began; Wen Jiu mainly needed to design several sets of evening gowns for the principal characters, so time was ample.

After sitting for a while, Wen Jiu got up and left as well.

Not far from the café, she saw an elderly woman lying on the ground, apparently having fallen suddenly and struggling to get up but unable to do so.

Wen Jiu hurried over to check on her.

The old woman seemed to have a heart problem, clutching her chest and gasping for breath.

Wen Jiu hadn’t encountered such a situation before. She called for an ambulance, briefly explaining what had happened, then carefully checked to see if the woman carried any medication.

She found a small bottle of medicine in the elderly lady’s bag, examined the instructions, and then gave it to her, feeling relieved.

Gradually, the elderly woman recovered, breathing deeply.

Seeing the pretty young woman who had helped her, the old lady thanked Wen Jiu kindly, “Thank you, dear, for saving me. I had a sudden attack and couldn’t reach my medicine. I’m so grateful to you.”

Wen Jiu felt reassured and shook her head, “Grandma, it was nothing, just a small effort. I’m glad you’re all right.”

She helped the elderly woman to a nearby bench. After a while, the ambulance arrived. Although the old lady insisted she was fine, Wen Jiu insisted on accompanying her to the hospital.

At the hospital, just after the examination, a group of men who looked like bodyguards arrived. The leader spoke anxiously, “Madam, where did you run off to? We searched everywhere and the young master is on his way.”

The old lady knew she’d wandered off and made it hard for the bodyguards to find her, so she replied sheepishly, “I’m fine now, aren’t I? No need for such a fuss.”

Wen Jiu saw they were her bodyguards and explained what had happened.

After confirming the old lady was out of danger, Wen Jiu said her goodbyes and left.

The old woman hadn’t had time to ask her to stay; Wen Jiu had already disappeared around the corner, out of sight.

But in her heart, the old lady silently wished: Such a pretty and kind girl—if only she were my granddaughter.

Still immersed in her own reverie, the old woman failed to notice that someone was already standing right in front of her.
