Before her afternoon shift, Wen Jiu finally saw Ye Yu outside the break room.

Ye Yu looked exhausted as she complained to Wen Jiu, “Sigh, my troublesome little rascal got into a fight with a classmate. The other parent went straight to the kindergarten—what a headache.”

Wen Jiu saw Ye Yu’s state. Though she couldn’t fully empathize, she understood the helplessness of juggling work and life.

After adjusting herself, Ye Yu threw herself into her work.

Meanwhile, Wen Jiu was called into the office by Li Lian.

Wen Jiu knocked on the office door. “Director Li, is there something you need?”

Li Lian sat in her armchair, hands clasped atop her desk. She smiled and said, “Wen, there’s an order here from the Huo Group—designing uniforms for their employees. Would you like to take it? If not, I can find someone else.”

Wen Jiu didn’t immediately accept or refuse. She first asked about the requirements for the uniforms.

“It’s like this,” Li Lian explained, “the chairman’s son has just taken over as president. He listened to the employees’ opinions on the uniforms and decided to redesign them according to their suggestions, so they approached our company. The requirements are simple: comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and convenient.”

Wen Jiu nodded, indicating she understood.

After considering for a moment, Wen Jiu spoke. “Alright, I’ll take this order. I’ll handle the design.”

Although Wen Jiu was a formalwear designer, her skills in everyday wear were more than adequate.

Besides, she didn’t want to limit herself to just formalwear; otherwise, her designs would have a narrow audience.

Li Lian was pleased with Wen Jiu’s answer and sent her the materials and requirements Huo Group had provided.

Back in her office, Wen Jiu opened the files and read them carefully, already struck by a spark of inspiration.

She began sketching the design drafts.

The documents included photos of previous uniforms. Wen Jiu noticed they lacked visual appeal, but more importantly, the fabric was neither breathable nor soft enough.

This time, Huo Group was sparing no expense on the redesign. After reading their requirements, Wen Jiu couldn’t help but sigh at the generosity of such a wealthy conglomerate.

It made her even more determined; she liked challenges.

Once she finalized the general pattern, Wen Jiu returned to her current tasks.

She left work right on time.

That was Wen Jiu’s principle: work diligently during office hours, and if there’s nothing unfinished, leave punctually.

After tidying up and stepping out of her office, she noticed most colleagues had already left.

Wen Jiu smiled to herself—she still hadn’t managed to leave before them.

After work, Wen Jiu didn’t head to her apartment, but went home instead.

Upon arriving at the Wen residence, she was greeted by her parents’ obvious joy. They instructed the kitchen to prepare two extra dishes.

Faced with the lively scene, Wen Jiu felt an impulse—she wanted to move back home.

She had spent three years abroad, and time with her parents was already scarce. Now, working and living away from home, her time with them was even more limited.

She didn’t want her parents to be lonely.

She didn’t want them to treat her occasional visit as if it were a holiday.

She ought to spend more time with them.

Work wasn’t an issue; she could return to her apartment whenever necessary.

Commuting wasn’t a problem either—she had her own car, and could simply get up earlier.

During dinner, Wen Jiu brought up her plan with Wen Zhan and Lin Sheng.

The couple couldn’t stop smiling—they were truly delighted.

Seeing her parents so happy, Wen Jiu felt her own spirits brighten.

That night, she stayed at home, planning to return to her apartment after work the next day to collect some clothes.

In truth, everything she had at the apartment was also available at home. She only needed to retrieve a few favorite outfits; the rest could remain at the apartment.
