Wen Jiu held onto Wen Zhan's arm as the two of them entered the Gu residence together.

A middle-aged man approached them. Even though he was no longer young, his handsome features from his youth were still evident, and his demeanor radiated a refined elegance from within.

Wen Zhan and the man shook hands, exchanged greetings, and spoke a few words. Wen Zhan then introduced Wen Jiu to him. “President Gu, this is my daughter, Wen Jiu. Jiujiu, this is Uncle Gu.”

Wen Jiu greeted him politely, “Hello, Uncle Gu.”

The man addressed as President Gu nodded with a gentle smile in response. After exchanging a few more courtesies, Gu Yan excused himself and went outside to welcome other guests.

Wen Jiu followed Wen Zhan and met many people. There were quite a few girls of her age present, most accompanied by their elders.

Half an hour later, in the courtyard, Gu Yan stood on the stage to give a speech. The old Madam Gu was seated at the place of honor at the main table, which was evidently reserved for the Gu family.

Wen Jiu gazed at Madam Gu for a while, finding her face somewhat familiar.

As if sensing something, Madam Gu turned in her direction. Upon getting a clear look at Wen Jiu, she became visibly excited, stood up from her chair, and walked straight toward her.

Wen Jiu suddenly remembered—this was the elderly lady she had encountered on the street a few days ago. After making sure she was safe at the hospital, she had left.

Madam Gu approached Wen Jiu, took her hand, and Wen Jiu greeted her sweetly, “Grandma.” Then she asked, “Grandma, how have you been feeling? Are you better now?”

Madam Gu looked at Wen Jiu kindly and replied with a smile, “Grandma is fine now, thanks to you, my good child.” She hadn’t expected to meet the young girl who saved her at her own birthday banquet, and was full of joy, holding Wen Jiu’s hand warmly.

Wen Jiu returned her smile.

The Gu family, noticing Madam Gu’s affectionate manner toward Wen Jiu, were puzzled and followed over.

To Wen Jiu’s surprise, among the Gu family members was a familiar face—her new neighbor, Gu Zehuai.

Wen Jiu quickly realized that since Gu Zehuai shared the same surname and was seated at the main table, he must be the second young master of the Gu family.

There were many news stories online about the Gu family’s second young master, most praising his talent and capability. At twenty-seven, he had already taken over the Gu Group for two years, and under his leadership, the company was flourishing.

Wen Jiu composed herself as the Gu family came over.

Madam Gu, still holding Wen Jiu’s hand affectionately, couldn’t wait to introduce her to the family. “This is the young lady who took me to the hospital during my episode! She is truly beautiful and kind-hearted.”

Wen Jiu was a little embarrassed at the praise. “Grandma, it’s enough that you’re well.”

Madam Gu’s face was full of grandmotherly warmth. “My dear, what is your name?”

“Grandma, my name is Wen Jiu.”

“Wen Jiu. What a lovely name. May I call you Jiujiu from now on?” Madam Gu beamed at her.

With so many people watching, Wen Jiu felt a little shy and nodded gently.

By now, both the Gu family and Wen Zhan understood what had transpired.

The Gu family thanked Wen Jiu one after another.

Wen Jiu responded to each with calm, unassuming smiles and nods.

A graceful woman, elegant in both dress and manner, approached them. Beside her stood Gu Yan, whom Wen Zhan had introduced earlier.

The woman’s gentle voice sounded, “Jiujiu, what a beautiful name. You can tell at a glance what a delightful girl you are.”

At these words, Gu Zehuai rubbed his brow with a touch of helplessness. It seemed his mother was once again preoccupied with his marriage.

Softly, Gu Zehuai addressed her, “Mom, don’t frighten her.”

Lady Gu realized she might be putting pressure on the young lady and immediately fell silent, though inwardly she was already wondering: such a lovely girl—did she have a boyfriend? Would she take a liking to her son?

Whenever she thought of her younger son, Lady Gu felt at a loss. He was twenty-seven and hadn’t shown interest in any girl. How could she not worry?

After speaking to Lady Gu, Gu Zehuai turned his gaze to Wen Jiu and nodded at her lightly.

Wen Jiu smiled back at him.

Just then, a voice called out, “Sister, you’re here too! I’m so happy to see you here!”

Gu Yulin, who had not been present earlier, had just noticed Wen Jiu.

The others were surprised that they knew each other. Wen Jiu quietly explained, and the Gu family finally understood.
