Wu Jue immediately realized that the other party was about to make a move against him. Whether or not his deception had been uncovered, he had to strike first.

Without hesitation, he leapt onto the table, a dagger suddenly appearing in his hand. With fierce determination, he thrust it toward Desai’s face. “Die!”

The dagger seemed to pierce Desai, but to Wu Jue’s surprise, it passed right through him. At that moment, a strange suction force filled the room, pulling Wu Jue’s body irresistibly into the opening that had appeared in the ceiling.

“Farewell, Wu Jue!” Desai waved his hand, his figure vanishing instantly. “Your tricks have been seen through. Now, rest assured as my experimental subject!”

It turned out that the Desai in the room was merely an illusion; the real one was controlling everything from another chamber.

As Wu Jue was sucked into the passage, he finally realized he had been deceived. Seeing no way to predict where he was being taken, his only thought was to protect himself.

Just before reaching the intended destination, Wu Jue suddenly summoned his fighting spirit. His bones underwent a bizarre transformation, his body swelling significantly as he forcibly blocked the passage.

Stopping himself with great effort, he surveyed his surroundings. Hearing the hum of the warship coming to life, it seemed reinforcements had arrived. Perhaps An Yi and the others were locked in battle with the enemy.

He had to find a way out.

Steeling his resolve, Wu Jue revealed his powerful mech armor. With a mighty burst, he shattered his prison and burst through the sealed passage, tearing a hole in the warship’s hull and escaping to freedom.

Moments earlier, Gao Lin, stationed at the highway entrance, suddenly spotted a ghostly apparition drifting before him.

Alert, he nocked an arrow and aimed cautiously. Though the figure was hazy and indistinct, his instincts warned him something had passed through.

In that fleeting moment, a voice called from behind, “Watch out! There’s a ghost sneaking up on you, trying to ambush!”

To his astonishment, it was a gray cat rushing over to warn him.

As Gao Lin was momentarily distracted, a gust of wind rushed past his face. He instinctively dodged to the side, seizing an arrow and sliding it along the ground as he shouted, “Ghost? Don’t think you can catch me off guard. Show yourself!”

He probed his surroundings with flames. The invisible ghost dared not approach, cursing under its breath, “Damn these cat people for causing trouble!”

Another voice laughed heartily, “I told you not to be careless. These folks aren’t easy to deal with. Let me out and I’ll help you.”

Suddenly hearing a voice, Gao Lin didn’t hesitate, drawing a sharp arrow and shooting it at lightning speed.

From thin air came a cry of pain. A glowing orb appeared midair and fell to the ground, exploding into a cloud of smoke. From the haze emerged a purple figure, sneering, “Such folly to release me. But Rosi won’t be so kind to you.”

With a sudden lunge, the figure appeared before Gao Lin, revealing Rosi’s grotesquely distorted face as he roared, “I’m free now! No one can control me. Prepare to die, Wu Jue’s companion!”

Gao Lin promptly raised an arrow to block. The two clashed, pressing arrow tips against each other, but soon the arrows dissolved into puddles under Rosi’s poisonous aura.

Seeing this, Gao Lin swiftly retreated, drawing a heavy crossbow from his waist. He fired three bolts in rapid succession, each exploding before Rosi and staggering him back.

Amid the rising smoke, Gao Lin found a hiding spot and, with Meow Pu, dashed toward the side of the highway. Outside, Rosi and the ghost lost their trail and erupted in fury.

“You bastards! How dare you mock me!” Rosi’s wrath soon cooled into calm. He said to the ghost, “Hey, Desai’s still waiting, right? Then hurry up — no need to waste time here.”

He floated away, the ghost leading him through the horde of zombies toward the warship.

Having escaped disaster, Gao Lin turned to Meow Pu, “That was close. If you hadn’t warned me, I’d be done for.”

Meow Pu nonchalantly licked his paw. “No need to thank me. I just came by for a cameo. Once this is over, I’m out.”

Gao Lin gave him a meaningful glance and suddenly asked, “Want to come to Jiangzhou and be my partner?”

“Partner?” Meow Pu paused mid-lick, claws extended, taken aback.

Just then, a woman’s voice called out from outside, “So many zombies! Impressive. Watch how I handle them.”

Harsh scraping sounds followed. Gao Lin, not waiting for Meow Pu’s reply, donned his cloak and stepped out to see Princess An Yi and Xiao Han arriving together.

Princess An Yi was in full force, using her divine power to push a line of cars forward, crushing the zombies ahead. Xiao Han darted skillfully forward, moving with light-footed grace.

“An Yi, I’ll go ahead and scout. You cover the others,” Xiao Han called, already several miles ahead.

An Yi kept pushing the vehicles, shouting, “Alright, you handle it! Leave these zombies to me.”

Suddenly she stopped, lifting cars and hurling them forward with tremendous force, smashing down swathes of zombies with each throw.

“At this rate, we’ll handle them quickly without needing more help,” Gao Lin said as he joined in, shooting down zombies to clear the battlefield.

An Yi smiled upon seeing him. “Gao Lin, you arrived so fast. Thank you. Did you meet anyone else on the way?”

Meow Pu jumped onto Gao Lin’s shoulder. “No new friends, but I noticed Rosi and the ghost heading over. Looks like they’re helping Desai.”

“Rosi’s out again?” An Yi frowned and sped up her throws. “What about Wu Jue? Where is he?”

“He’s already gone ahead. We’ll need to pick up the pace,” Gao Lin said, dispatching several more zombies without hesitation.

Hearing this, An Yi suddenly lifted a van and shouted, “Then let’s not waste time—let’s break through at once!”

She flung the van low and hard like a bowling ball, knocking down row after row of zombies and surging forward several thousand meters.

Gao Lin followed swiftly, sprinting toward the warship.

Moments later, amid the wreckage left behind, Huron’s figure appeared silently. Looking over the battlefield, he murmured, “Looks like I’m not too late after all.”

Xiao Han was the first to break through the encirclement, arriving outside the warship.

Here, he marveled at the warship’s formidable appearance. “Wow, these guys keep sending tougher warships. What’s their plan?”

No sooner had he spoken than several low-ranking Tianzhu warriors spotted him and fired their guns as they charged.

“No big deal, just some small fry,” Xiao Han waved dismissively, then in the next instant used his super-speed to dodge the bullets and slip between them.

With deft moves, he unleashed Mirror Light, knocking them to the ground, smirking, “Don’t try to be faster than me! None of you stand a chance.”

Before more soldiers could emerge from the warship, Xiao Han dashed forward like a streak of light, leaping aboard, ready to launch a fierce assault and cripple the enemy vessel.

Suddenly, the warship trembled violently. At its center, a swelling bulge appeared. Xiao Han feared it might unleash a weapon against him.

With a deafening roar, something was ejected violently. One end of the warship shattered into pieces as a massive figure descended silently before him.

The figure’s aura and bearing were unmistakable: it was the long-lost Wu Jue.

“So you got in early!” Xiao Han scratched his head with a smile. But Wu Jue’s current form was terrifying. He was several heads taller, his body transformed.

A gleaming white armor encased him, shielding his body with majestic power. Secret weapons embedded in it adjusted automatically, helping him steady his stance.

Wu Jue then revealed a cannon muzzle, targeting the enemy warship. Before soldiers could pour out, he opened fire, felling a swath of foes.

Stabilizing himself, Wu Jue stepped back, smiling upon seeing Xiao Han rush to his aid. “Xiao Han, we meet again!”

“Yes, Master, you’re truly impressive,” Xiao Han nodded. Words were unnecessary between them. Turning to the enemies emerging on the warship, he called out, “Let’s fight side by side and give them a good thrashing!”

Wu Jue naturally agreed. He had been waiting for this moment—to face Desai in a final showdown. He called out, “Desai, you’ve miscalculated again. This time, no more hiding. Let’s settle this face to face.”

Desai’s voice echoed from the warship, sneering coldly, “Wu Jue, you’re lucky to have lived so far. But I never expected to kill you so easily. Don’t worry, my friends are arriving soon. You know them all—old acquaintances. Have fun with them.”

No sooner had he finished than Rosi’s voice came from behind, “Wu Jue, we meet again. Let’s see who wins this time.”

A purple shadow streaked forward, striking Wu Jue’s back.
