Having successfully defeated Goom’s fleet, the next step was to clean up the battlefield.

The remaining rabble was hardly worth mentioning. Everyone gathered together and displayed their might, dispatching the zombies with ease, as though chopping vegetables.

After nearly an hour of hard work, most of the obstacles had finally been cleared away. All that remained were those who had come to aid Desai.

Ghostface was the first to sense that something was wrong. He shouted that he was abandoning his duel with Gaolin and tried to flee.

Wujue, hovering in midair, saw this and thought, I absolutely cannot give you another chance to escape. He shot forward like a bird released from a bow, snapped his fingers, and plunged Ghostface into reversed time and space.

Ghostface ran desperately, yet could not escape the spot where he stood. Gaolin stepped forward, drew a barbed arrow, and loosed it with a sharp hiss. It pierced straight through Ghostface’s temple.

With a wet thud, Ghostface crashed heavily to the ground and went silently to meet the King of Hell.

Seeing the ground awash with blood, Rossi and Ghost also began to consider retreating.

Rossi was the first to release a vast cloud of poisonous smoke, hoping to use the spreading haze to create an opportunity to escape.

Within the smoke, he transformed into a pool of venom. While everyone held their breath, he took advantage of the confusion and slipped away along the ground.

But suddenly, someone stepped on him. His liquid body came to an abrupt halt, and a powerful chill surged over him. In an instant, he was frozen into solid ice.

Only after the poisonous fog around them had been dispersed did Xun’er appear before Rossi with a cheerful smile. Turning to Wujue, she said, “How about that? My sorcery packs quite a punch, doesn’t it? I’ve helped you again, Big Monk.”

Wujue smiled. “All right, Xun’er, step aside. I have something to do that children shouldn’t watch.”

He lifted Rossi’s frozen body and said coldly, “I’m sorry, but I can’t give you another chance to oppose me again and again. In the apocalypse, this is the only way to survive. Don’t you agree?”

He hurled Rossi violently to the ground. With a thunderous crash, the frozen body shattered into countless pieces. Xun’er immediately cast a spell, bringing forth a powerful barrier that trapped Rossi’s remains and prevented him from re-forming.

A moment later, countless blood-red spots began to seep through the ground. Streams of purple blood sprayed from the countless fragments, and in the end, Rossi breathed his last.

With two troublesome enemies dealt with, only the accursed Ghost remained.

At that moment, Ghost was locked in a furious battle with Flash Spirit. The two of them darted through the air, playing an endless game of hide-and-seek while slaughtering one another.

Ghost was actually terrified. Seeing all his companions meet disaster, he could not help but feel fear rising from the depths of his heart.

As Wujue and the others closed in on him, he suddenly broke off his duel with Flash Spirit and flew into the distance. But Gaolin swiftly fired an arrow, which exploded in midair and forced him back.

Wujue and the others attacked together. Little Han used the light of his mirror to reveal Ghost’s true form, leaving him nowhere to hide. The Grim Reaper then appeared and shouted, “Let me handle this!”

Ghost’s body twisted inexplicably in midair, as though seized by a violent convulsion. After several shrill cries, it exploded with a roar and transformed into something formless.

Under the Grim Reaper’s power, however, his life was brought to a complete end.

At last, it was over. Wujue and the others ceased their attacks and gazed at the devastation covering the ground, each lost in thought.

Wujue looked at everyone present. Some had been traveling with him from the very beginning; others were friends he had made along the road. Regardless of how they had met, all it had taken was a single summons for them to come and lend their aid.

In the apocalypse, such loyalty was truly precious.

Wujue pressed his palms together and bowed to everyone in a circle. “Thank you all for coming to our aid. We could never have defeated Goom and his army without your help. I hope that, from now on, we can continue fighting side by side and create an entirely new world amid the apocalypse.”

Little Han stepped forward with a smile. “Of course. But I wonder whether, after today, everyone will have to part ways again.”

Gaolin silently gathered his bow and arrows. “I still have to return to Jiangzhou. That is where my main battlefield lies. If you ever need me, come find me. Xiaoyang knows how to contact me.”

With that, he finished packing and prepared to leave.

Ao Hai also smiled. “I would like to stay a while longer, but our dragon clan is not accustomed to living on land. How about this? If you ever venture into the sea, remember to call me. I’ll stay with you a little longer then.”

Princess An Yi approached and said, “Naturally. You have already gone to such trouble to hurry here. Be sure to visit our tribe when you have the time.”

Ao Hai agreed with a laugh, then bade them farewell as well.

Only Flash Spirit, Fuyuan, and the others remained. The three of them still had to continue their cultivation. Before leaving, Fuyuan reminded Wujue to be especially careful on the road. The mission resting on his shoulders was a heavy one, and the journey ahead would inevitably grow more difficult.

Wujue nodded his thanks and said goodbye.

At the moment of parting, Alice unexpectedly went over to greet Xun’er. No one knew what the two of them said, but Xun’er suddenly blushed. Stamping her foot, she said to Alice, “If I’d known you had nothing good to say, I wouldn’t have listened. Hurry up and leave. There’s nothing here that needs your concern.”

Alice was not offended. She merely smiled faintly and waved goodbye to Wujue and the others.

As for the Grim Reaper, he rose and departed in silence, leaving behind only a single sentence:

“Wherever death is, that is where I will go. Call me again the next time someone needs killing.”

And so, apart from An Yi, Little Han, Huron, Meowpu, and Xun’er, all the friends who had come from afar gradually departed.

Everyone silently waved farewell as they watched their companions disappear into the distance.

“Looks like we should be moving on too. Where are we headed next?” Huron asked thoughtfully, gazing at the setting sun in the sky.

Wujue’s eyes were resolute. “Anhui Province, of course. I believe Goom and Desai’s original goal was to cross that region and reach the First Emperor’s Mausoleum.”

At once, everyone gathered together and set out, with the First Emperor’s Mausoleum as their ultimate destination.

Night fell. Among the ruins, beneath the wreckage of the warship, a hazy figure appeared.

“Foolish Wujue. I actually managed to deceive him!”

The arrogant voice echoed through every corner of the ruins. It was none other than Desai, who should have been dead.

He stretched both hands over the ruins and called out, “Awaken, my subordinates. Your performance is over.”

Beneath the rubble, a black arm suddenly emerged—then a second, and a third. The figures pushed away the earth and stones weighing them down and struggled to crawl free.

They were none other than Ghostface, Rossi, and Goom, who should likewise have been dead, along with Ghost, who floated through the air.

“I can’t believe we’re still alive!”

Ghostface was the first to regain consciousness. He stared at his own hands and laughed with wild delight before embracing Rossi, who had just returned to human form.

“This calls for a celebration. Come, let’s have a drink.”

Rossi shoved him away in disgust. “I have no interest in mixing with you. Desai, what are you doing? Why did you help us fake our deaths?”
