Chapter 138: The Thrill of a Night Raid
In the dead of night, three cars sped along the road, heading toward the southern suburbs.
From here to the gathering point in the southern suburbs, it was about an hour’s drive, and with the roads being difficult to navigate at night, some delays were inevitable. Old He asked with a hint of worry, "Going this late, won't it be an inauspicious start?"
Wujue laughed and said, "It doesn't matter. I specifically chose to strike at night. With the cover of darkness, they are likely still dreaming away or cuddling with their women—it is their most vulnerable moment and the best time to act. Besides, opportunity waits for no one; I believe this is the perfect time."
He said no more. Wujue closed his eyes to rest, reflecting on everything that had happened during the day. He analyzed the fallen men—their techniques, their movements, and their equipment—to gauge what the enemy might possess. According to Old He’s intelligence, this group were originally smugglers, so they should be armed with guns. Unlike the outdated gear A-Bao and his men had scavenged from the underground armory, these should be the most advanced weapons of the era.
But what did "advanced" matter? Compared to the warships of the Tianzhu Clan, it was all nothing! If it weren't for the fact that operating his armor required such a massive effort, Wujue could have simply revealed it and wiped them all out instantly. For now, it was better to keep a low profile; the situation in Ning City was not yet entirely clear. The group in the eastern suburbs was of unknown origin, and if they included powerful ability users or masters of the underworld, it would be difficult to detect them.
As he pondered these things, he saw Huron drifting back toward them. He pulled the car over, picked him up, and asked, "How is it? What’s the situation?"
"I’ve checked it out. There are about a hundred people in total, with around forty capable fighters. They have about a dozen submachine guns and shotguns, and seven or eight vehicles. I’ve already taken care of the two men at the gate; we can go straight in."
Hearing Huron’s report, Wujue smiled with satisfaction. "Excellent. We’ll strike under the cover of darkness. Remember, show no mercy. Kill the men instantly, and if the women resist, don't leave them alive either."
"This..." Old He and his men were shocked, feeling that this was perhaps too ruthless.
Wujue clenched his fist and said, "Don't you understand the principle of killing the chicken to scare the monkey? These people are all involved in the underworld. If they were the ones attacking, they would be even more vicious and cruel. To suppress these people, you have to be more ruthless and decisive than they are!"
By the time he finished speaking, they had arrived. Wujue kicked the car door open, tucked two Berettas into his waistband, and charged in immediately.
Outside the gate lay two corpses. Just as Huron had said, the guards were dealt with. Next was a direct charge into the fray to begin the slaughter. Wujue signaled the dozen men following him, splitting them into three groups—one for the back gate, one for the front, and one for the flanks—to officially launch the assault.
Exchanging a glance with Huron, Wujue vaulted over the gate and jumped inside. It turned out to be a three-story villa complex; these guys certainly knew how to enjoy themselves. Wujue and Huron had agreed beforehand to capture the leader first, so they headed straight for the residence of the Huarui Gang boss.
Crouching low, Wujue crept up to the final building. He concentrated, listening to the movements inside, sensing every breath within the rooms. Finally, he entered the room at the eastern end of the second floor. He kicked the door open and dashed inside, immediately pinning the two people on the bed. With a slight exertion of force, he snapped the knee of the chubby guy.
Before the man could even scream, Wujue muffled his mouth and struck their acupoints to ensure they couldn't move. Only then did he turn on the lights to interrogate them. A man and a woman lay on the bed; the woman’s face had turned pale with terror, while the man’s face was flushed a deep liver color, likely from pain so intense it nearly made him black out.
Wujue made a "shush" gesture to the woman and then asked the man, "So you are the boss of the Huarui Gang here? You’re living quite comfortably. The world has become like this, and yet you’re still fat and well-fed. You must take great care of yourself, huh?"
The fat man shook his head violently, trying to explain something. The woman beside him also shook her head. Because Wujue had sealed their mute points, neither could speak, leaving them in silent agony.
Wujue released the woman’s acupoint and asked, "Why is he shaking his head? And who lives in this building? Tell me the truth, and I won't kill the woman!"
The woman hurriedly nodded and said, "He’s shaking his head because he isn't the Huarui Gang boss. Boss Cheng changed rooms at the last minute today and gave this room to his sworn younger brother—this fat man here."
Realizing he didn't have the right target, Wujue pressed his hand firmly against the fat man’s chest and asked, "Is what she said true?"
The fat man nodded vigorously, hoping to escape with his life, but just then, gunfire erupted in the courtyard—it seemed the others had engaged in combat.
Wujue did not hesitate; he sent the fat man to his grave with a single shot. He then turned and rushed out of the room. By now, others on the floor had begun to fight back. Two shirtless men lunged at him. Wujue grabbed the first one and threw him over the railing to the floor below. He pressed his gun against the head of the second, and with a *click*, he pulled the trigger, blowing the man's head apart. He stepped over the corpse and pushed forward.
Wujue’s slaughter turned the tide of the battle. The men who had just scrambled up were already in disarray, and with a master like Wujue entering the fray, he instantly took down seven or eight people, quickly clearing the entire floor. After counting the numbers, he gathered the crying women from the rooms into one place and locked the door.
Wujue then led his men downstairs to support the others. In the courtyard, several Huarui Gang thugs were engaged in a fierce fight with Huron.
Someone cursed, "Who the hell are you bastards to mess with our Huarui Gang? Are A-Bao and A-Hu tired of living? Do you want us to wipe you out before you'll be satisfied?"
Huron sneered, "A-Bao and A-Hu are already dead. The entire Ning City is about to change, you fools just haven't realized it yet!"
"Just you? I’ll hack you to pieces!" The man speaking was shirtless and swinging a wood-chopping blade. He seemed to have some skill; watching from behind, Wujue recognized it as the basic Five-Tiger Door-Breaking Blade.
Without a second thought, Wujue raised his gun and fired from behind, blowing the man’s head apart. The thug collapsed, dead.
Wujue strode forward, wielding a captured submachine gun, and sprayed the ground with bullets. "Still want to fight? Are you really going to be satisfied only when your entire gang is wiped out?"
Spent shells rattled on the ground, sparks flying. With that one sentence, Wujue stunned everyone in the courtyard. Several men stared back at him in terror. One man, with a tiger tattooed on his chest, pointed at him and shouted, "You—what is your background? Do you know what the situation is here? Killing us means offending the Huarui Gang. Do you have any idea how many men we have?"
Wujue blew the smoke from the muzzle of his gun and said, "However many men the Huarui Gang had before, it’s all bullsh*t now. It’s the apocalypse, you moron; stop bragging about the past. Let me tell you, I’ll wipe out the Huarui Gang and build a Shaolin Temple in its place if I want to. Are you interested in using your head to test that?"
As he spoke, he aimed the barrel at the man’s head and pulled the trigger slightly, scaring the man into taking a step back and instinctively raising his arm to block.
Wujue pulled the gun back and laughed. "You’re actually afraid? Still trying to dodge? I’m asking you, where is Boss Cheng?"
"Even if I die, I won't let you find our boss!" Before the man could get closer, Wujue unleashed a powerful burst of internal energy, firing a bullet that tore through half the man's body. The impact sent him flying four or five meters before he hit the ground.
Even a shotgun couldn't have that kind of power! The others were absolutely stunned.
