Chapter One Hundred Fifty-Three: Crystal Stone
With the help of the Mirror Heroes and others, Wu Jue finally rose again from the brink of downfall. After resting for a night, he met with the group once more, but appeared somewhat embarrassed. He apologized, saying, “Over these past days, I have made many mistakes. I hope to make amends for my wrongdoings from now on.”
Tel, representing the Mirror Hero Alliance, spoke to him: “We have also held meetings on this matter. The current situation on Earth is quite complex. Only a dozen or so Mirror Heroes have come to Earth this time, and some have returned to other planets to resolve crises there. Therefore, we still need your assistance.”
Xiao Yang added, “Wu Jue, though you went astray before, it’s not entirely without merit. At least most of your targets were social parasites and scum, albeit your methods were somewhat dishonorable. We hope everyone can restrain one another, so excessive behavior does not spread to the innocent.”
Then Ser and several other Mirror Heroes who remained expressed their opinions one after another.
The most pressing matter now was how to eliminate the Tianzhu clan on Earth. According to the current warfare, since the Tianzhu clan’s main base had been destroyed, about sixty to seventy percent of their remaining forces on Earth had retreated.
What remained were mainly infected zombies and evolved monsters.
Using the green crystals sourced by the Mirror Heroes, combined with the power of the purple crystals, they were sufficient to eliminate the zombie threat.
Tel explained the origin of these two types of crystals to the group: they were a special form of life formed over hundreds of millions of years in the universe, bearing a resemblance in their formation to the Tianzhu clan.
However, the two differed greatly in form and power. These crystals, known as Dorma crystals, varied in color and were scattered throughout the universe, with a total amount of less than three tons.
Moreover, their functions depended on their colors.
Purple crystals could detect the evil factors within living beings; green crystals could eliminate human desires; red crystals aroused bloodlust; yellow crystals induced obsession with carnal pleasures, and so forth.
Among these crystals, green crystals were the most abundant and were regarded as the Tianzhu clan’s natural enemy.
At this moment, Wu Jue took out a particle cannon and showed it to the Mirror Heroes, explaining that he had obtained it from the southern China gang leader Cheng. The opposing side was connected to a mysterious international organization that had developed this weapon to combat the Tianzhu clan using purple crystals.
Wu Jue voiced his suspicions, suspecting that this so-called mysterious organization was “Ming,” whom they had encountered several times along the way. It was likely they were also devising ways to fight the Tianzhu clan, and might inevitably become formidable adversaries in the future.
Everyone listened and expressed their concerns.
Tel said, “We have been researching Ming as well. We know they have appeared in many places during the apocalypse and have been undertaking various covert actions. We will keep a close watch moving forward. Regarding the future, I hope everyone can work together to devise a proper plan.”
Wu Jue smiled and said, “That’s naturally no problem. I voluntarily relinquish command. Why not let Xiao Yang and An Yi serve as our joint leaders? I am willing to follow their direction.”
This was a strategic retreat on his part—displaying magnanimity and humility to dispel everyone’s doubts.
After further discussion, they tentatively selected the leaders. Given the current situation, the Mirror Heroes would scatter across the globe, while Xiao Yang would follow Wu Jue’s previous plan to investigate the Mausoleum of the First Emperor and observe the situation there.
They had intelligence indicating that the remaining Tianzhu clan forces would send two squads there for a final life-or-death battle.
Therefore, aside from Tel staying behind to assist Xiao Yang and the others, Ser and the rest of the Mirror Heroes departed.
The entire group gathered once again, but this time the roles had shifted. Wu Jue had voluntarily stepped down, handing leadership to others, yet Xiao Yang did not express much joy.
He told Wu Jue, “You know, in my ideals, no one is an absolute leader. So I hope to maintain the original arrangement: I serve as the strategist, you as the main force, and everyone else supports us.”
Wu Jue nodded humbly and smiled, “No problem, just like before—I will remain everyone’s friend.”
In truth, only he himself knew that this was merely a facade to conceal his killing intent. Ultimately, he would use the guise of morality to eradicate his enemies.
They settled down to redistribute personnel among the survivors they had taken in, as they needed to advance deeper into Anhui Province, eradicating any Tianzhu clan forces encountered along the way. This required careful allocation of manpower and strategic planning.
Wu Jue said, “Xun’er and Hsiulun have been with me through hardships and are familiar with the area, so let them stay. Scar Hua is a talented individual who can join us in operations. An Yi must be itching to act—so let’s have Xiao Han, myself, you, and An Yi lead some people out.”
An Yi laughed and said, “You’re quite the talker. That big transformation you did before scared me to death! Don’t ever do that again.”
Wu Jue nodded, scratching his head awkwardly. “It shouldn’t happen again. I’m even afraid Buddha won’t forgive me for life.”
Xiao Han seized the moment to lighten the mood: “I have a suggestion. Since we’re going to fight zombies and have green crystals on hand, why not go to the city and run some experiments?”
At this moment, the survivors in the villa area watched Wu Jue and the others bustling about, uncertain of what was to come. Upon hearing they planned to fight zombies, some grew worried.
Ming’s wife stepped forward and asked, “You’re going to fight zombies? How will you handle so many in the city?”
“Yeah, can’t you stay here? What will we do if you leave?” Especially the women, seeing Wu Jue acting like a different person, felt quite uneasy.
After all, in the apocalypse, finding a strong figure like Wu Jue to rely on was rare.
They did not want to lose their protector so suddenly.
Wu Jue bowed respectfully and said, “Everyone, whether we fight zombies or not, we might even be able to rescue your loved ones. Please don’t lose hope—there might be a miracle.”
After fully connecting with the purple crystals, he had come to understand more mysteries of the Dorma crystals. If used wisely, the purple and green crystals could not only eradicate the Tianzhu clan but could also gradually revive those infected.
If that were true, he would become humanity’s great savior.
With Wu Jue’s reassurance, Xiao Yang and the others also expressed their support. After all, the Mirror Heroes brought good news—hope was perhaps just ahead, though much remained to be done.
Once doubts were dispelled, it was time for action.
Wu Jue retrieved two confiscated particle cannons from the warehouse and handed them to Xiao Yang for study.
Xiao Yang quickly became familiar with the particle cannon’s operation and integrated one green crystal and one purple crystal into the weapons.
With preparations complete, Wu Jue, Xiao Han, and Tel accompanied Xiao Yang as they set out for the city center to eliminate the long-rampaging zombies.
The four, seasoned veterans, drove a jeep straight into the urban area.
By then, the zombies gathered on the streets had grown restless. Wu Jue brandished a machine gun from the vehicle, aiming it as he said, “I’ll provide cover fire; Xiao Han, you drive; Xiao Yang, it’s your turn.”
He then unleashed a barrage of gunfire, bullets striking targets and clearing the way.
Xiao Yang wielded the particle cannon and began his assault.
The first shot, powered by the purple crystal, struck a zombie and immediately turned it into a puddle of blood, disappearing without a trace.
Xiao Yang frowned slightly, realizing the purple crystal’s destructive force was immense, capable of completely annihilating zombies.
Wu Jue pointed ahead and warned, “Be careful. The zombies will soon rush us once they hear the commotion.”
Just then, a zombie latched onto the back of the vehicle, trying to get inside. Its bloody face pressed against the glass, it let out a hungry roar, causing Xiao Han to shudder involuntarily.
Despite having witnessed so many horrors of the apocalypse, the fear still crept deep within.
Xiao Yang quickly switched to the other particle cannon and fired. A thunderous blast hit several zombies gathered nearby.
They were enveloped by a bright light and slowly stopped moving.
It seemed to be effective!
