Chapter 153: The Demonic Aura
“Is that so? Let me see…”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Fu Qingyin’s black eyes turned white.
His Spirit Eyes opened—
He gently touched Jiang Yan between the brows with a fingertip. An invisible white thread darted forth, swiftly traversing the distance until it locked onto the location of Jiang Yan’s physical body in the mortal realm.
At the sight, storm waves surged through Fu Qingyin’s heart.
It really was the Great Demon Lord!
Jiang Yan’s body was tightly wrapped in countless black roots, sealed as densely as a silkworm in its cocoon and suspended in midair. The sight was unnervingly strange.
All around, the corpses of crows lay scattered like black snowflakes.
Every corpse was riddled with holes, its body shriveled and desiccated. Clearly, its blood had been sucked dry.
Looking more closely, Fu Qingyin could see what seemed to be a black, mistlike demonic aura quietly flowing into Jiang Yan’s body.
By then, Fu Qingyin’s white eyes were already webbed with blood vessels. He wanted to continue observing, but there was no time left.
As his eyes returned to black, Jiang Yan asked curiously, “My lord, you saw my body, didn’t you?”
He studied Fu Qingyin, unable to help wondering why the man’s face looked so pale.
Fu Qingyin nodded slightly. “There seems to be a treasure protecting you. It is repairing your body on its own. Once your soul returns to your body, you will awaken.”
At those words, Jiang Yan immediately thought of the black flower—Mo Mo.
“My lord, did you happen to see a black flower near my body?” he asked urgently.
Fu Qingyin shook his head. “I saw no such thing.”
Jiang Yan’s heart sank. Where had the black flower hidden itself? Or had it… already sacrificed itself?
If his body was being repaired, then the only possibility was that the black flower had given its life.
The thought pained Jiang Yan. He had long since come to regard the black flower as an important companion.
Though he often enjoyed frightening it, he had never truly intended to eat it.
He did not even know whether the black flower possessed a soul, or whether it could still be saved.
“My lord, do flowers that have gained intelligence possess souls as well?”
Fu Qingyin was silent for a moment. His gaze grew deep as he looked at Jiang Yan, as though pondering something.
“All things possess a spirit. Since that flower has already gained intelligence, it naturally possesses a soul.”
A spark of hope kindled in Jiang Yan’s heart.
If the black flower truly had a soul, perhaps there was still a way to save it.
He pressed the question impatiently. “My lord, after an intelligent flower dies, where does its soul go?”
Fu Qingyin countered, “That flower is the one repairing your body, is it not?”
He thought of those eerie black roots and the demonic aura permeating the area. Surely, all of it was connected to the flower Jiang Yan had mentioned.
“I suspect it sacrificed itself to repair my body.”
“Did the two of you form a contract?” Fu Qingyin asked again.
“No.” Jiang Yan shook his head.
A flicker of astonishment passed through Fu Qingyin’s eyes.
Without the restraints of any contract, that flower had actually been willing to sacrifice itself to save Jiang Yan—the Great Demon Lord?
It was truly beyond belief…
“If you can find its soul and enter into a soul contract with it, it can continue to exist alongside you.”
“Will its soul also come to the Netherworld?”
“The Netherworld has nine regions. Its soul certainly would not be in the first. You may search the second region.”
The second region was also known as the Flower Domain.
It was ruled by a lord who adored rare flowers and unusual plants. She was particularly fond of collecting flower souls and welcomed the souls of all manner of plants without exception.
A sharp glint flashed through Fu Qingyin’s eyes.
He could tell how much Jiang Yan cared about that flower. Once he found it, Jiang Yan would surely return to the mortal realm without the slightest hesitation.
“Hei Yi, Bai Yi, escort Jiang Yan to the second region and help him search for that flower.”
Fu Qingyin thoughtfully lent Hei Yi and Bai Yi to Jiang Yan, sending them along to the second region.
“As you command, my lord,” Hei Yi and Bai Yi replied in unison.
Jiang Yan had not expected this lord to be so accommodating.
And so warmhearted, too.
It was truly beyond all expectations!
“Thank you, my lord. I, Jiang Yan, will remember your kindness.”
“…”
Fu Qingyin merely smiled without speaking. He only hoped that Jiang Yan would not tear this place apart once he regained his memories.
