Chapter 0105 Flattening the Sun

The sun hung high in the sky, rising in the east and setting in the west day after day. People affectionately called it Grandfather Sun.

Yet today, there were two people preparing to beat the sun flat.

...

Orochimaru and Madara Uchiha soared upward. Suddenly, Orochimaru’s gaze sharpened as a spatial passage appeared at the focus of his vision, its other end opening out into the vacuum of space near the sun.

“Orochimaru-sama!” Kimimaro couldn’t help but call out. He wanted to go as well, but realized he would be of no help, so he swallowed his words and said instead, “I’ll wait for you here.”

Orochimaru nodded, withdrawing his gaze from Kimimaro, and together with Madara, stepped into the spatial passage.

When they reappeared, the two of them were already in outer space, right beside the sun.

The vicinity of the sun was unbearably hot, its raging flames capable of scorching anything to ash. Yet Orochimaru and Madara stood motionless, undaunted by the heat. They could both withstand the searing temperature.

Even so, they felt a touch of discomfort.

“Let’s begin,” Orochimaru said.

He transformed instantly into the Yamata-no-Orochi form, overlaid with both his ultimate Sage Mode and the Otsutsuki Chakra Mode—his mightiest state. Since perfecting this form, he had never once used it. This was the first time.

Madara transformed as well. A gigantic blue triple-faced Susanoo manifested around him, and soon, the three pairs of eyes on Susanoo’s faces turned into green Rinnegan.

This was his new ability—bestowing Susanoo with the Rinnegan!

“Let’s go,” Orochimaru said, drawing a purple sphere from within himself—a Truth-Seeking Orb created by the Rinnegan, containing the forces of yin, yang, and the five elements, brimming with immense and formidable power.

Normally, Truth-Seeking Orbs were black, but this one was purple because Orochimaru infused it with Sage Chakra.

One serpent head coiled around the purple orb. The orb elongated by itself, transforming into a colossal purple hammer, rivaling the sun in size.

The remaining seven serpent heads wound around the hammer’s handle. At this moment, Orochimaru’s human head emerged from the body of the Yamata-no-Orochi.

He wielded the hammer with his eight serpent heads and smashed it down upon the sun.

Boom!

With that single swing, the sun was knocked flying.

Just then, Madara burst out laughing. In a flash, he appeared in the sun's trajectory. His triple-faced Susanoo drew out a Truth-Seeking Orb from within—his was blue.

The six arms of Susanoo grasped the blue orb, which then grew into a blue hammer as massive as Orochimaru’s purple one.

Madara swung his hammer, striking the oncoming sun.

Boom!

With that blow, the sun was sent flying back toward Orochimaru.

“Well done!” Orochimaru shouted, spinning his purple hammer twice at his side. The third spin landed squarely on the oncoming sun, blasting it back with explosive force.

Madara would not be outdone. He repeated the maneuver, spinning twice and hammering the sun once more toward Orochimaru.

Thus, the blazing sun was batted back and forth like a ball between the two.

And with each strike, the sun was gradually beaten flatter.

...

On Earth, to most people, today seemed utterly ordinary: the sunlight was pleasant, the air was fresh, and cultivation elixirs were both cheap and effective.

Suddenly, a gigantic purple shadow appeared, blotting out the sky and sun as if a curtain of purple night had fallen.

“What is that?” someone exclaimed, looking up in shock.

Beside the sun, a colossal purple hammer-shadow had materialized, casting the earth in a violet hue.

“My god!” someone else’s eyes and mouth were wide open in disbelief, as though a fist could fit inside his gaping mouth.

They watched as the purple hammer-shadow struck the sun, sending it flying!

“Look!” another person shrieked.

As the sun hurtled along its trajectory, a blue hammer-shadow appeared and knocked it back.

Then, before their eyes, the two hammers continued to bat the sun back and forth through space.

What on earth was happening?!

This day would undoubtedly go down in history, for never before had anyone hammered the sun—until now.

People were utterly astonished.

...

In outer space, Orochimaru and Madara were gradually hammering the sun into smaller and smaller pieces, and as a consequence, the sun’s heat, gravity, and mass were all changing.

When these changes eventually affected the Earth, dramatic upheaval would follow, with most of life perishing.

Fortunately, the sun was far from Earth, so it would take some time for those changes to reach the planet.

As long as they resolved the matter before then, there would be no problem.

Orochimaru’s gaze sharpened. “Let’s use our full strength.”

Madara nodded, his eyes growing solemn.

The two of them swung their hammers together, smashing them against the sun from opposite sides.

With both forces colliding, the sun was pinned motionless between the two hammers, unable to deflect the blows. The combined strength channeled into the sun’s core, and then—

Bang!

A thunderous explosion resounded, followed by a series of cracking sounds—crack, crack, crack...

The sun had been shattered by their blows!

It split neatly into ten pieces, all of similar size.

“Let’s continue!” Orochimaru declared.

His eight serpent heads unfurled, and the massive purple hammer split into two, then four, then eight, each head wielding a separate hammer. He struck the ten solar fragments, sending them hurtling away.

Madara divided his blue hammer into six and hammered the flying fragments in turn.

The two of them, like multi-armed monsters, volleyed the ten solar fragments back and forth. The hammers became nothing but afterimages, and at last, each fragment was hammered down to about the size of the moon.

“Now for the final step—I must engrave them!” Orochimaru announced.

The ten fragments, now ten miniature suns, spun quietly. Orochimaru’s eight purple hammers vanished, replaced by a colossal pen—a pen of awe-inspiring magnitude.

With it, Orochimaru inscribed a single character onto each sun.

Madara looked on and saw ten characters, forming the phrase: “When ten suns appear, all slaughter turns to peace.”

He found himself murmuring the words and felt a surge of awe.

In the future, Earth would set sail among the stars, ringed by ten suns, each sun circling the planet like a lantern, displaying those words for all to see.

Wherever Earth traveled, those ten words would be visible in every star system it passed. At the same time, Earth would spread the arts of immortality and sterilization.

War would cease to be war.

Orochimaru put away the Truth-Seeking Orbs, gazed at the ten suns, and said, “There should also be a character inscribed on the moon.”

Madara asked, “What character?”

“Not really a character,” Orochimaru replied. “I want to engrave a comma after the word ‘sun’.”

Madara gazed at the ten suns. If a comma were carved onto the moon after the word ‘sun,’ the phrase would read, “When ten suns appear, all slaughter turns to peace.”

Punctuation did indeed make things clearer.

“Let’s go,” Orochimaru said. “Let’s return to Earth quickly. There’s another matter I need you for.”
