Chapter 125: The Federation’s Mobile Suit Is a Monster... Sorry, Wrong Set.
"You have lost."
Ruby’s calm voice struck like a sudden clap of thunder on a clear day, jolting the stunned students back to reality. They struggled to comprehend how Ruby, who had been at such an obvious disadvantage, had managed to turn the tables so inexplicably. The students of the Battle God Academy looked as though they had just swallowed flies; Ruby had single-handedly taken down all three of their top-ranked competitors.
"I have indeed lost. I never imagined that someone could counter the Meteor Flash Shadow Strike in such a way."
Qianye touched her forehead and gracefully conceded her defeat. Furthermore, Ruby had chosen to pull back at the last moment when he clearly had an opportunity to deal a heavy blow, opting instead for a light tap. This confirmed Qianye’s belief that he was, as the students said, a gentle person.
"Then, can you tell me now? The reason."
"Something violent dwells at the bottom of that lake. My left eye can see things that ordinary people cannot."
A faint, indifferent smile appeared on Qianye’s face again; her small, slightly upturned lips were quite captivating. Ruby looked at her golden left eye, and the strangely colored iris seemed as if it were trying to draw his soul in. He shook his head to dispel the sensation.
"What kind of violent thing?"
Ruby did not know if it was just his imagination, but the pressing concern now was Aqua. Was she the "violent thing"? Ruby didn't think so; even if the little mermaid were to stir up trouble, she could only use "Splash" to soak people. If it wasn't her, did that mean she was in danger?
"I don't know, which is why I must go and find it."
Qianye shook her head and turned to leave. The people from the Battle God Academy no longer wore their previous arrogant expressions, preparing instead to head to the infirmary to check on their teacher and classmates.
"Wait, I have something to say."
Moyuna stepped into the arena from the spectator stands with a light, rhythmic gait. This girl, who never seemed to tire of stirring up trouble, would never let such a perfect opportunity pass her by.
"Isn't there a team competition next? Why don't we just start it now?"
The young mage successfully halted the future Battle God in her tracks. Only when the other girl’s gaze shifted toward her did she continue.
"Student Moyuna, the team competition is scheduled for tomorrow."
Shudor reminded her kindly. The headmaster had warned him more than once to be polite to Moyuna. Unaware of the inside story, Shudor assumed Harvey was just being protective of his student, so he spoke without the airs of a superior.
Moyuna waved her hand, signaling for the vice-principal to stop. With a fair, slender finger, she pointed in Qianye’s direction. "How about this?"
"What do you mean?" Qianye asked with a smile. Ruby noticed that this youth seemed to wear that smile regardless of the situation, though this time, it was likely a smile of anger.
"A one-on-one means I take you all on one by one, and a group brawl means I take all of you on by myself."
Moyuna revealed an incredibly cute smile. The scene of these two girls, so different in figure and temperament, smiling at each other was indeed a sight to behold, but her words were anything but friendly.
"Too arrogant!"
"That's right! Just because you're pretty doesn't mean you can act like that."
Moyuna’s dismissive attitude infuriated the battle mages opposite her. While the boys had been somewhat captivated by her beauty just moments ago, they now regarded her entirely as an enemy.
"We accept this duel."
The rough voice of the bald man echoed across the arena. Har was already finished with his treatment; apart from a piece of adhesive tape on the bridge of his nose, there was no sign of injury. Such was the benefit of being a tough guy.
"Teacher Har, you're not dead!" a student exclaimed excitedly.
"Shut up! When did I ever die?" Har kicked the student in the backside. Judging by the force, he was perfectly fine, and the other students laughed in relief.
"Vice-Principal, it seems you are quite confident this time, to the point where even a student who claims to fight all of ours at once has emerged."
Har hadn't expected to hear such provocative words the moment he stepped out of the infirmary. It wasn't that he was being impulsive; if he refused here, it would surely have a negative impact on the students' morale later.
"Cough, she is the headmaster’s personal disciple—young and hot-blooded, just young and hot-blooded." Shudor shook his head helplessly. Even the headmaster had to indulge this problematic student, so what else could he do?
"Very well. Listen up, you brats! The headmaster’s personal disciple from the Rhine Magic Academy wants to fight you. You must give it your all! If you lose, you’re running a hundred laps around the track!"
"Yes!"
The students responded with a deafening roar. All nine of them, including Qianye, drew their weapons. Various colored staves glistened in the sunlight, and their gazes toward Moyuna were predatory; the moment the referee gave the signal, they would pounce like starving tigers to tear her apart.
"Let’s see, I’ll rank up for now."
Moyuna hadn't forgotten that she had been suppressing her magic power to the level of a mere mage. Facing battle mages who were mostly of the Great Mage rank might lead to an upset, so she decided to rank up—as simple as a game.
"She leveled up! She just turned into a Great Mage..."
The students present were all elites; they immediately sensed the surge in Moyuna’s magical fluctuations.
"I knew it! How could Student Mo Aotian stay at the mage level? She was hiding her strength! How amazing!"
"Mo Aotian! Mo Aotian! Mo Aotian!"
Hearing the cheering from the stands, veins bulged on Moyuna’s forehead. If there weren't people waiting to be beaten, she would have personally eliminated those shouting her name.
"As a mage, let me teach you a lesson. Magic power is meant to be used like this!"
As the referee gave the signal, the battle mages charged forward like wild horses unleashed. Moyuna, unhurried, snapped her fingers. Small patches of marshland appeared exactly where the battle mages were about to land—each patch just slightly wider than their feet. Caught off guard, they all stepped right into them, their momentum causing them to stumble forward.
A few with quick reflexes managed to use their staves as a pivot to prevent falling, but two unlucky ones couldn't react in time and slammed their chins heavily into the ground. The students in the stands winced at the sight.
"Impossible! What kind of reaction speed is that..."
As the saying goes, the layman watches the spectacle while the expert watches the technique. Seeing his students suffer, Har cried out. He knew how fast a battle mage’s footwork was, but Moyuna had clearly calculated their landing spots the instant they lifted their feet, creating the marsh traps accordingly. This level of reaction and control over magic power was astonishing even to a battle mage, let alone creating nine traps simultaneously.
"Are the students of Rhine Magic Academy all monsters!?"
