Chapter 139: It Should Be Common Knowledge That the Demon Lord Is Female

Dragon clearly sensed a shift in Ruby’s mood. If he had to describe it, it felt like stepping on a disgusting cockroach and then having to pick it up—covered in foul fluids and broken limbs—to dispose of it.

“Uh, cough, you really remember something from so long ago, you fatso...”

At this point, Dragon reluctantly believed that Gluttony was truly Gluttony. After all, Satan had strictly forbidden them from ever mentioning that incident to anyone and had hung Dragon on Creation Mountain for over a hundred years before finally releasing him.

“So you were hung on...”

“Shut up. Don’t say any more, I’m barely convinced,” Gluttony snapped, breaking into Dragon’s words. If Ruby found out about his embarrassing past, the carefully constructed imposing image he had worked so hard to build would collapse—although that grand image existed only in his own mind.

“Satan is a man?”

Even Ruby couldn’t resist gossiping. He was very curious about the ruler of the Demon Realm, who had left countless legends behind—was Satan male or female?

“Huh? Have you lost your mind? Do you think I would wear a man’s underwear on my head?”

“So then she’s a woman?”

“If you want to put it that way, her body is female, but she has none of the awareness of femininity. She’s nothing like the ideal little sister type I imagined. You think I stole her underwear out of desire? How naive! I did it to awaken her sense of womanhood, to make her feel shame, to teach her to hide her intimate garments properly so no pervert could steal them.”

“I’m calling the police.”

“Hey, fatso, how did you end up like this?”

Dragon stopped bickering with Ruby and instead directed his question to the thick wooden staff. After Dragon’s prompt, Ruby realized it wasn’t meant to be wielded roughly. Despite its large size, Gluttony was still classified as a staff, so calling him “fatso” wasn’t wrong.

“It’s a long story. After Lord Satan left the Demon Realm, the seven desires we represent were revered by various clans due to our immense power. But precisely because of that power, we became targets of contention. There’s this saying—‘To become Demon King, one must first subdue the Seven Deadly Sins’—I don’t know which idiot came up with that. Those damned ambitious fools eventually turned on us.”

Gluttony’s voice brimmed with anger. The Demon Realm, the birthplace of desire, was ruled by tyrants who brazenly pursued their cravings. They took whatever they wanted without hesitation, leaving no place for them to hide.

“I understand how you feel.”

Dragon blinked one eye. He, too, was tired of the overt and covert struggles in the Demon Realm, which was why he fled to the Sacred Continent to live as a tree. And it was thanks to that decision that he met Ruby. Thinking about it, he wanted to tell those with white, blue, pink, purple, green, red—and who knows what color’s next—that he was first.

“Wherever we went, those annoying bastards chased us. To the Demon Realm, we were merely the source of chaos. In the end, I fought a battle against a quasi-Demon King and managed to escape.”

“You could fight a quasi-Demon King?”

Dragon hadn’t expected this chubby guy’s combat power to be so high. Quasi-Demon Kings were among Satan’s fiercest generals—Lucifer was one of them. Although these desires were powerful, Satan created them to aid himself. Without a master, they couldn’t unleash their full potential.

“Of course I couldn’t win. But he wanted me to submit to him, which gave me the chance to fight back. After I severely wounded him, I no longer cared about the Demon Realm and came here.”

“And then?”

“Ah, no matter how much I planned, I never expected to be taken advantage of by humans. At that time, my power was completely sealed. The one who captured me was a top human. I resisted in vain and ended up like this. The academy on my head, you know about that, right? Over the years, the magic inside me has been constantly drained, forming that place.”

“I see. So those things are used to extract your magic, meaning that person wanted to use your abundant magic for cultivation. Clever.”

Dragon jumped from Ruby’s head to one of the chains binding Gluttony. Upon closer inspection, these weren’t physical chains but magical ones drawn from Gluttony’s own power. The caster was truly clever—so long as Gluttony’s magic wasn’t exhausted, these chains would remain intact.

“Hmph, that’s... no, I mean, I’m not as bad as you think. I ate him when he wasn’t paying attention—swallowed him whole. That’s why you felt a change in my soul’s energy.”

“You fatso still like to eat everything. Back then, many of my collectibles were swallowed by you—just thinking about it makes me furious!”

“Then why use Aqua?”

Dragon was still chattering about the theft of the pretty girl’s original underwear. Ruby had no strong opinions, only gently shaking the Aqua he held in his arms before asking Gluttony.

“For all these years, I could sense what was happening outside, but I couldn’t ask anyone for help. Humans are greedier than demons. If they knew how useful I was, would they have let me go? So I waited, waiting for someone familiar to come by. It took a long time, but I more or less waited it out.”

“When did you get so good at mental magic?”

Dragon asked puzzled. Gluttony’s style was simple and brutal—he swallowed whatever he saw. Delicate psychic magic seemed completely out of place with him.

“I’m not good at it. Honestly, I chose that mermaid only because she was closest to me—my magic most easily affected her. The merfolk are a strong race, all skilled in psychic magic. I thought it would take me a year or two to control her, but...”

“In less than three days, I completely took control of her. Could it be that the merfolk aren’t as formidable as the Demon Realm rumors say?”

Gluttony’s voice carried confusion. Having been imprisoned for hundreds of years, he wasn’t in a rush to escape immediately. Still, the ease with which he controlled Aqua—whose mind basically revolved around Ruby, alcohol, and food—terrified him.

“That’s probably an individual difference.”

Ruby sighed, shaking Aqua, who was still mumbling “One more drink” in her sleep, further lowering the merfolk’s average IQ.

“Enough talk. Dragon, get me out of here!”

“Get you out? It’s not that simple. After all these years, you don’t know how these things work? Without the key, how do you open them?”

Dragon jumped along the chains. At the end of each was a lock made of magic—not an ordinary lock, but one that required a key with exactly the same magic to open.

“The key... I swallowed it along with him back then. It’s probably been digested into magic by now. That’s why I need you, Dragon. Only you can transform your own magic to match the key exactly and free me.”

“No way. Get lost!”

Dragon finished speaking and drew a magic circle beneath Ruby’s feet, teleporting them out of the unknown cave and back to the surface. Aqua’s earlier teleportation magic was the most common type in the Demon Realm, and Dragon naturally knew how to draw it.

“Are you really not going to help?”

“I’ll think about it when I’m in the mood.”

Dragon replied mercilessly. To him, an old companion enduring bondage, imprisonment, and playthings wasn’t worth pity. If he had time to rescue him, he’d rather enjoy watching the thighs of a few schoolgirls.
