Chapter 125: One Ten-Thousandth of Cuteness
Fu Xuxing changed his identity and took a direct flight to Macau International Airport.
Aunt Rong accompanied them to the airport before they parted ways. Fu Linsheng did not cry or make a fuss, obediently saying goodbye to Aunt Rong. Aunt Rong held back her tears over and over again until she finally managed to suppress them.
Who knew when they would be able to meet again.
Upon arriving in Macau, someone was specially sent to pick up the father and son.
Fu Xuxing had no luggage. Holding Fu Linsheng by one hand and leaning on a walking stick with the other, he walked slowly toward the exit. Along the way, he attracted the attention of quite a few people, and even a few young girls took pictures.
Because Fu Linsheng was simply too cute—rosy, chubby, and above all, strikingly handsome—far better-looking than any baby on television.
Fu Xuxing wore a face mask and black-rimmed glasses. Even just his physique alone was handsome enough, but everyone's attention remained focused on Fu Linsheng.
Hearing whispers of "He is so adorable" echoing in his ear once more, Fu Xuxing couldn't help but look down. Cute? He wasn't even a ten-thousandth as cute as his own old mother.
Whenever Fu Linsheng saw those young ladies, he would proactively greet them, calling out "Big Sister" in a sweet, milky voice. He was very enthusiastic and not shy at all. Fu Xuxing suspected that as long as someone offered him a piece of candy, the boy would easily wander off with them.
Two bolder young girls even stepped forward to chat with him and accompanied them all the way to the airport exit.
Fu Xuxing scooped him up with one arm, and Fu Linsheng waved goodbye to them. As for Fu Xuxing, from beginning to end, he didn't spare them a single extra glance before getting straight into the car.
Only one person had come to pick them up.
He had delicate, refined features and looked quite young.
After getting into the car, he introduced himself.
"Hello, Mr. Fu. I am your assistant here in Macau, handling both work and daily life. My name is Xu Chuan. You can call me Xiao Xu or Xiao Chu."
Fu Xuxing nodded and reminded him, "From now on, call me Mr. Lin."
"Understood, Mr. Lin."
As the saying goes, the most dangerous place is the safest place. Fu Xuxing knew who was secretly tracking his whereabouts; Macau had undoubtedly been searched countless times already, but by coming here, they wouldn't be able to find him anytime soon.
Their accommodation was quite ordinary—a mid-range residential complex, consisting of three bedrooms and two living rooms, meant to house the father, son, and a nanny.
For the childcare nanny, he had asked someone to find a man. For household chores, they had hired a local nanny who did not stay overnight.
The residential complex was located in the northern part of the city, away from the bustling downtown area, making it relatively quiet. Nearby, there was an early-learning center and a garden. The soft infrastructure was quite good, and most importantly, it was convenient for raising a child.
There were plenty of places for Fu Linsheng to play.
The two nannies were already waiting at home. Since Fu Xuxing had no luggage and was only traveling with a child, having given instructions half a month in advance, everything inside the apartment was fully prepared. People trained by Juyuan still handled things very efficiently.
Besides, he was Yu Zhi's disciple.
The male nanny was a young man around Xu Chuan's age, named Song Lin.
An elite graduate who had dedicated himself to early childhood education research ever since graduation, he had been hired by Xu Chuan with a high salary.
Song Lin's own company was located nearby—an early childhood education center where he managed a team of professional maternity matrons and childcare aunts.
He himself didn't do hands-on work, but because of Xu Chuan's generous offer, he had reluctantly accepted the job.
The female nanny was also a young girl selected from Song Lin's company. She was proficient in everything and skilled at interacting with children. Since Song Lin married young and had a family of his own, unable to stay away from home for long periods, Ye Ying was able to take his place.
The two introduced themselves briefly. Fu Xuxing looked them up and down, nodded slightly, put Fu Linsheng down, and asked, "Did you hear what the uncle and aunt just said?"
The boy nodded and pointed at Ye Ying. "The big sister is pretty."
He wasn't shy at all. As he spoke, he walked right up to Ye Ying and held out his arms, asking to be picked up.
Song Lin squatted down. "Oh? So the big brother isn't handsome?"
Fu Linsheng smiled cheekily. "Uncle."
Ye Ying burst into laughter, patted Fu Linsheng's head, and said, "You really are a smart little spirit."
Watching from the side, Xu Chuan breathed a quiet sigh of relief. If the little one posed no problem, then the older one probably wouldn't either.
Indeed, Fu Xuxing didn't care. Once settled, he went straight into the study, leaving the child to the two of them. Xu Chuan followed him in, closed the door, and said, "If there is anything you are unsatisfied with, just let me know, and I will do my best to make it right."
"There's no need to fuss over these trivial matters. Let's talk about work."
"Yes."
As for Chaosheng, with Liang Yusheng taking charge there, he didn't need to get too involved. But Juyuan was still entirely managed by him from behind the scenes. In fact, Juyuan had been established even earlier than Lin Wanbai knew. In the beginning, it was merely an underground organization that no one knew about.
When he was in middle school, he established it together with a street punk. He remained in the shadows while the punk stood at the forefront. By high school, the punk unfortunately lost his life in a gang fight, so Fu Xuxing had one of the punk's subordinates step up. Fu Xuxing rarely intervened, only having them use their initials as a code name on the outside: JW.
In the beginning, Juyuan's members were a mixed bag of people from all walks of life, mostly down-and-out minor thugs who lacked ability, were trampled underfoot, or had suffered physical and mental trauma.
By high school, Fu Xuxing created a membership application form and began reorganizing the group.
Chen Fan had been one of them back then.
What Fu Xuxing wanted were people just like him—disliked by others, but exceptionally sharp-witted, possessing at least some special skill.
He had no use for good-for-nothings who couldn't be molded and were utterly useless.
During that period, JW recruited quite a few "elites," though these elites all possessed somewhat flawed personalities.
Chen Fan had quit back then because an incident had crossed his moral bottom line. At the time, members could come and go freely, but things were different now.
This was their secret; Chen Fan had never mentioned it to Lin Wanbai, nor would he ever.
Later on, as Fu Xuxing grew older, JW became increasingly regulated and progressively larger. He still operated behind the scenes, rarely showing himself, and outwardly, he was not known as the leader of JW.
Fu Xuxing had known from a very early age that relying on anyone was inferior to relying on oneself; one had to forge their own faction, carve out their own path, until one day everything matured to the point where they no longer needed to rely on anyone or look at anyone's expression.
No one would ever be able to snatch away or touch what he wanted.
Whether through legitimate means or underhanded ones, absolutely no one could.
By now, JW was a legend in the underworld—not everyone knew of it, but those who did trembled in fear.
Of course, Fu Xuxing knew how to protect himself; JW was not a purely dark organization. He knew that total darkness would inevitably lead to a disastrous defeat one day, so it maintained close cooperative ties with righteous factions—righteous yet unorthordox, ensuring its long-term survival.
Consequently, JW's membership became even more strictly regulated, forbidding people from joining lightly and refusing to let anyone leave easily.
There were simply too many classified secrets; whether coming or going was never an easy task.
Fu Xuxing turned on all the computers on his desk, every single machine serving its own purpose.
"How is the investigation into the Yuan family's faction progressing?"
"Ever since half a year ago, the Yuan family has been completely different from before."
"What do you mean?"
"I've always found it bizarre. Just how did a person with paralyzed limbs manage to completely dismantle You Zhi's replacement plan, which had been plotted for nearly ten years, and successfully become the head of the Yuan family? Don't you find it strange? No matter how smart he is, how can he achieve anything when he has to rely on others for everything? What kind of personal charisma does he possess to make people willingly work for him?"
Fu Xuxing raised an eyebrow. "It's not entirely impossible. Fu Yanchuan has always been a clever man."
"That is true, but if you investigate carefully, you'll find that aside from that, he must have acquired some kind of backing. The Yuan family's defense network is entirely brand new. Not only did I fail to find any trace when I had people infiltrate Yuan's network, but our own network completely crashed, infected with viruses and attacked by hackers. They even sent a warning telling us not to court death. We have never failed in this area before, and I know Fu Yanchuan has at most been here for three years. During these three years, his family lived entirely by depending on their uncle."
"Living under someone else's roof, they endured plenty of sneers and sarcastic remarks. Yuan Yujun searched the world for famous doctors to treat him to no avail, and eventually, Yuan Qirong called a halt to it, after which Yuan Yujun stopped hiring doctors altogether. This proves they had no real power in their hands at all. Fu Yanchuan lived alone in the mountainside villa. I previously obtained his entry and exit records—almost no one went to visit him, and he rarely went out." Xu Chuan furrowed his brow, utterly perplexed, and said, "I feel there must be something wrong here, but their system's defense is currently too strong, and we can't find out anything. That's the troublesome part."
"Then continue the investigation according to your own ideas."
"Yes."
Fu Xuxing clearly wasn't in a hurry. When facing anything—except matters concerning Lin Wanbai—he could remain utterly calm, rarely ever acting impulsively.
Once Xu Chuan finished briefing him on everything that needed to be reported, he stepped out of the study.
In the living room, Fu Linsheng and Ye Ying were playing happily together while Song Lin watched from the side, chiming in with a few words from time to time as he casually tested Xiao Bao's developmental stage.
He discovered that although Xiao Bao's speech wasn't entirely fluent, his mind was exceptionally active and brilliant—much smarter than the average child, and possessing a strong sense of independence.
Just as he was thinking this, he heard Xu Chuan come out and walk toward them.
Xu Chuan greeted Fu Linsheng before pulling Song Lin aside.
Glancing out of the corner of his eye at Ye Ying, Xu Chuan said, "Let me warn you first, our boss is utterly devoted to his wife. Make sure your employee keeps her head screwed on straight. If she stirs up trouble, don't say I didn't warn you. Our boss doesn't have a very good temper. Tell her not to try to cozy up to him or try to please him; you just need to do your own jobs. It won't take long—just two months, understand?"
Song Lin replied, "You can rest assured about that. My employees are very professional."
Xu Chuan glanced at Ye Ying, smiled, and said, "I hope so."
Xu Chuan had already briefed them on the daily routines, so he didn't repeat himself and soon took his leave.
Ye Ying continued chatting with Xiao Bao, and when the time was right, she began preparing dinner.
After thinking it over, Song Lin found an opportunity to give Ye Ying a few extra warnings, telling her not let her imagination run wild. The boss certainly looked good, but he was not someone of her social standing to covet.
She must not harbor any alternative intentions, or she would bear the consequences herself.
Ye Ying smiled and said, "Don't worry, Boss Song. Even if I did have ideas, I'd definitely bear the consequences myself and would never drag you down with me."
"That's best."
"Go on out and keep an eye on Xiao Bao. I won't make any mistakes. I know this good opportunity was deliberately given to me by you, so I will definitely work hard and never embarrass you. Besides, I really do need the money, so I certainly won't act recklessly."
Song Lin glanced at her, responded perfunctorily, and walked out. Stopping at the kitchen doorway, he couldn't help turning back to look at her once more, his gaze tinged with a hint of pity.
For this first meal, Ye Ying had prepared everything meticulously, even cooking separate dishes specifically for Xiao Bao. Once the tableware was neatly set, she went personally to knock on the study door. Just as she reached the threshold, the door opened ahead of time.
Fu Xuxing emerged from inside.
Ye Ying paused and immediately put on a smile. "Mr. Lin, dinner is ready."
"Mn," he grunted, heading to the bathroom first.
When he came out, Xiao Bao was already sitting in his exclusive high chair, waving at him. "Daddy, time to eat."
"I'm coming." His expression remained unchanged, still as cold as ever.
Standing nearby, Song Lin wanted to say a few words, but remembering Xu Chuan's warning about the big shot's foul temper, he held his tongue.
In truth, a child's best teachers are their parents; whatever the parents are like, the child will likely turn out the same way in the future.
He smiled and offered a respectful greeting. "Hello, Mr. Lin."
"Sit." Fu Xuxing gestured with his chin.
However, Song Lin waited until he sat down before taking his own seat.
Ye Ying sat beside Xiao Bao to take care of him during the meal. Fortunately, having a child around prevented the atmosphere from turning utterly freezing.
Fu Xuxing sat there, eating in a leisurely and unhurried manner without making any extra movements, yet radiating an invisible sense of oppression. Song Lin tried saying a couple of things to break the ice, but Fu Xuxing didn't take up the conversation, making the atmosphere even colder.
In the end, Song Lin honestly focused on eating, at most exchanging a couple of remarks with Xiao Bao, who wasn't yet very articulate.
Halfway through the meal, Ye Ying secretly glanced at Fu Xuxing twice. Seeing that he still wore a blank expression, she asked, "Mr. Lin, if there is anything that needs improvement, please tell me directly. In the future, if there is anything you'd like to eat, just let me know too. As long as it's not too difficult, I can make it."
"Xu Chuan will tell you," Fu Xuxing replied indifferently.
Ye Ying nodded. At least he responded; that was already pretty good. Song Lin had been the truly pitiful one earlier—not a single word had been returned to him.
It was freezing cold.
After the meal, once Ye Ying finished washing the dishes and cleaning up, Fu Xuxing saw them out.
Song Lin was leaving as well, and Fu Xuxing didn't press them to stay.
Once both of them left, only the father and son remained.
Cupping his cheeks with both hands, Fu Linsheng looked at Fu Xuxing and said, "Bath time, I want to take a bath, Daddy."
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Blinking his large eyes, he didn't answer, only saying, "It'itchy."
His chubby little body leaned forward, and he scrambled up onto Fu Xuxing's lap. He kept wriggling around, climbing up and down his body, having completely lost all fear of him.
If left unchecked for even a moment, he would probably climb right up to sit on top of his head.
Fu Xuxing frowned and gave him a light smack on the thigh. "Get down."
Fu Linsheng had just managed to straddle his neck and was extremely reluctant to climb down, but he complied anyway. He knew this dad of his was quite fierce, so he had to quit while he was ahead—that way, he'd get to ride longer next time.
He obediently sat down beside him.
Fu Xuxing stood up and went to the bathroom.
Xu Chuan was certainly thorough in his arrangements; a small bathtub for children had been fully prepared, filled with numerous children's toys. Written on the rim of the tub was a note stating that the suitable water temperature for a child's bath was 38 degrees Celsius and shouldn't be too hot, accompanied by an arrow pointing to a built-in thermometer for monitoring.
Fu Xuxing turned on the faucet, then went
