Chapter Seventeen: Confrontation with Garp and Kizaru
At the very instant Kamio used "Shave," he appeared at the spot where the Tree of All-Knowledge once stood. Glancing at the enormous crater beside him, Kamio curled his lip in disdain.
Moments later, Kizaru arrived. His elemental transformation was indeed faster than Moonwalk, almost as fast as light itself! As Kizaru landed, he stared in shock at the gaping crater. According to the records, this was supposed to be the symbolic site of Ohara’s Tree of All-Knowledge. Yet now, only a massive pit remained—where was the tree?
A few seconds later, Garp also arrived. He, too, glanced at the pit, eyes flashing with disbelief. Years ago, Garp had visited Ohara. Back then, he had gazed upon the great tree in awe, and now it was simply gone.
“Uh, what happened to the 'Tree of All-Knowledge'?” Garp pointed at the crater, questioning Kamio, his eyes full of doubt.
Kamio glanced at the pit, answering nonchalantly, “It’s gone.”
“Gone?” Garp nearly stumbled, left speechless by the reply.
“I’ve replanted it somewhere else. You won’t find it,” Kamio said, looking at Garp.
“Replanted it somewhere else?” Garp was incredulous at Kamio’s words.
“Enough talk. Let’s fight! Both of you come at me together—otherwise, it’s too dull. This time, I’m going all out.” Kamio adjusted his clothes as he spoke.
Kizaru glanced at Garp. Seeing no objection from Garp, he took it as acceptance.
“Shave!” Garp vanished, his sudden movement making Kamio’s pupils contract. In the next instant, Garp appeared behind Kamio, throwing a Haki-infused punch at his back.
Kamio sidestepped and leapt away, dodging the blow. The punch struck the ground, shattering it with immense cracks that spread outwards, causing the entire island to tremble—a testament to Garp’s legendary “Iron Fist.” Indeed, the punch was formidable, but Kamio still managed to evade it.
“Light Kick!” Still airborne, Kamio suddenly sensed imminent danger and vanished with “Flash Step.” A half-meter-wide laser beam pierced through where Kamio had just been, shooting into the sky and punching a massive hole through the clouds.
In an instant, Kamio appeared behind Kizaru, stretched out his hand, and swung a meter-long purple lightsaber toward him. Kizaru, his face full of disbelief, barely managed to dodge by swiftly elementalizing, but still suffered a minor wound—a gash appeared on his back, blood seeping out.
“How is this possible? What kind of Fruit ability is that?” Kizaru stood several dozen meters away, his face a mix of shock and dread. He could tell the Fruit’s nature was exactly like his Glint-Glint Fruit, only a different color. Garp, too, paused his assault, watching the confrontation.
Kamio eyed Kizaru coldly. “Heh, you’ll soon find out.” Kizaru, sensing the immense danger, quickly elementalized.
“Violet Light Grand Kick!” Kamio shouted, swiftly raising his right leg high above his head. With both Kizaru and Garp staring in disbelief, his leg erupted in purple light.
Boom—a colossal explosion erupted, erasing nearly a tenth of Ohara’s island. The destructive power of this move was staggering.
Kamio’s speed as he raised his leg and unleashed the attack was so quick that Kizaru had barely any time to react. The light engulfed the area entirely. Not far away, Garp could only watch helplessly—even if he used Haki to block the move, it would still come at a cost.
After a while, the smoke and dust cleared. Looking at the fan-shaped, radiating chasm in front of him—reaching all the way to the sea, forming a plain—there was nothing left, no buildings or trees.
Garp was both furious and astonished. Before Kamio could react, Garp vanished again with “Shave,” appearing at Kamio’s left and launching a side kick.
Kamio’s pupils shrank; he couldn’t dodge this one. He quickly gathered both his Qi and Haki in his left arm to block.
Boom!
Kamio felt an immense force, as if a mountain had struck his left arm. With a thunderous crash, his legs sank deep into the ground, sliding backward and carving a long trench in the enormous pit.
He vanished with “Flash Step,” dodging Garp’s next punch and reappearing dozens of meters away.
Rubbing his still-trembling left hand, Kamio snorted coldly. His left arm was completely numb. It would take hours to recover.
Garp also snorted, leaping out of the pit. He hadn’t expected his kick to fail to break Kamio’s left arm.
Meanwhile, Kizaru struggled to his feet, his usual sly demeanor gone. Gravely wounded, he could no longer fight. He slumped against a large boulder, eyes fixed on Kamio in the distance.
Kamio glanced at Garp, who wasn’t attacking, then looked at the severely injured Kizaru and spoke slowly, “You must be wondering why I possess powers like yours.”
“Cough, cough… Glint-Glint Fruit powers. But why do you have them? Didn’t you eat the Thunder Fruit? How can you have Glint-Glint abilities?” Kizaru’s voice was weak, but his curiosity was palpable.
Garp, not far away, was also intrigued by Kamio and Kizaru’s exchange.
Kamio flexed his barely functional hand, glanced at Garp, and took out a pack of cigarettes. Holding one in his mouth, his right middle finger glowed with a bright purple light, gently lighting the cigarette. He exhaled a few smoke rings and glanced at Kizaru.
“Heh, want to know? It’s simple: I ate two Devil Fruits—Thunder Fruit and Glint-Glint Fruit.” Kamio’s careless words reached Kizaru and Garp.
Both were stunned. It was common knowledge that one could only eat a single Devil Fruit—consuming a second would lead to instant death. Yet Kamio had eaten two, including the Glint-Glint Fruit. Moreover, only one of each Devil Fruit could exist in the world. How could Kamio possess Glint-Glint’s power?
Of course, the readers already knew the answer, but could he tell these two?
“Impossible! You can only eat one Devil Fruit, and there can’t be a second of the same kind. Don’t lie to me,” Kizaru protested, unable to accept the answer.
Garp, though never having eaten a Devil Fruit, was well-versed in their lore. He, too, looked at Kamio in disbelief.
Kamio looked at them, exhaled a few more smoke rings, and said, “It doesn’t matter whether you believe me. I’ll just say this: ‘Anything is possible.’”
Though Kamio’s answer didn’t satisfy Kizaru and Garp, it was the only explanation available, so they didn’t press further.
“Well, Navy Hero, are you fighting or not? I haven’t even drawn my blade yet,” Kamio said, flicking his cigarette away. In a flash of purple light, “Violet Emperor” appeared in his right hand.
Garp looked at Kamio, a trace of bitterness in his eyes. Even together, they couldn’t defeat Kamio, and now one of them was seriously wounded. Although Kamio couldn’t defeat Garp outright, the advantage was clearly his. If Kamio wanted to kill Kizaru, Garp couldn’t stop him.
“Sigh! Forget it—we’ve lost,” Garp said, glancing at the wounded Kizaru and waving his hand.
Kamio thought to himself: As expected, they’re afraid I’ll kill Kizaru if they linger.
“By the way, weren’t you planning to destroy this island? I’ve already relocated the inhabitants. I hope you won’t go looking for them—they pose no threat to the World Government. If they ever do, I’ll stop them myself,” Kamio added suddenly.
Both men paused. Wasn’t their purpose here to prevent research into the Poneglyphs from threatening the World Government? Hearing Kamio’s words, the two exchanged a glance.
“Alright, we’ll report this to our superiors. What happens next is up to them, but I doubt they’ll keep searching,” Garp said, supporting Kizaru, who nodded in agreement.
With an admiral like Kizaru, and someone even stronger than an admiral like Garp, both unable to do anything to Kamio, pursuing him further would be suicide. Since Kamio put it that way, they likely wouldn’t press the matter.
Watching the two depart, Kamio suddenly sent a telepathic message to Garp: “Take good care of Ace for me. Roger once saved my life.”
Garp froze for a moment. He didn’t know why Kizaru couldn’t hear it, but didn’t ask. Though full of questions, now was clearly not the time.

Kamio watched the departing Navy warship, then turned to survey the devastated Ohara. A cold glint flashed in his eyes.
He vanished, reappearing a thousand meters above the ground.
“Thunder God!”
A massive surge of lightning appeared over Ohara, rapidly condensing into a kilometer-wide sphere. The departing Navy looked back in shock.
Before their stunned eyes, the thunderball crashed down on Ohara. Amidst a surge of violet light and thunderous noise, the entire island was all but obliterated, leaving only a few reefs behind.
But none of them saw a ring fall into the sea from high above, drifting on the water, its destination unknown...
