Watching Qiao Xi fall to the ground, Ji Niansheng, not far away, furrowed his brows in distress. Although Qiao Xi had indeed dodged the baseball, it was only just barely—perhaps it really was just a coincidence before.

Qiao Xi was about to stand up when a hand appeared before her, fingers long and gently curved in an elegant arc.

She looked up and met a pair of gentle eyes.

“I’ll help you,” Oya murmured.

Qiao Xi paused, then placed her hand in his.

Oya carefully helped her to her feet and then said, “Your hand is scraped. Let me take you to the infirmary for treatment.”

“It’s not necessary.”

“It’s fine, come on.”

Qiao Xi hesitated for a moment but eventually followed him.

When they arrived at the infirmary, there was no one inside.

She was about to say it wasn’t needed, but Oya seemed very familiar with the place, quietly fetching antiseptic, disinfecting her wound, and carefully applying a bandage.

“Thank you,” she said.

“It was Niansheng’s carelessness. I apologize on his behalf.”

“It’s just a minor injury, it’s nothing.”

“Why did you fall at the end?” Oya suddenly asked.

“What?” Qiao Xi was puzzled.

“Nothing,” Oya smiled, gentle yet carrying a hint of something inscrutable. “Alright, let’s go.”

Qiao Xi watched him get up, looking at his handsome and gentle face. Her usually quiet expression now showed a slight frown, but she said nothing.

As the two left the infirmary, Dan Chou-chou rushed over.

She had originally come to help Qiao Xi sweep, but when Qiao Xi said it wasn’t necessary, she went to buy water. Upon reaching the sports field, she heard someone say Qiao Xi was injured and hurried over.

“Qiao Xi, are you alright?”

“I’m fine.”

“You’re hurt! If this were at Maple—” She paused mid-sentence, glanced at Oya beside them, and quickly changed her words. “That guy definitely did it on purpose.”

“Thanks, you go on with your errands.” Qiao Xi turned to Oya.

“I’ll walk you back.”

“It’s not necessary, it’s just a small wound.”

“Alright then.” Oya didn’t insist, turning to leave.

Watching the boy with perfect looks, physique, and even a pleasant voice, Dan Chou-chou blinked in suspicion and turned to Qiao Xi. “Qiao Xi, is he pursuing you?”

Qiao Xi paused, then replied calmly, “No.”

“He definitely likes you,” Dan Chou-chou said with certainty. Qiao Xi had always been beautiful; back at Maple Yang, no one dared to make advances toward her, but after transferring to Yingran, Qiao Xi had completely changed. She was no longer the Qiao Xi whose mere name instilled fear—having admirers was only natural.

Qiao Xi looked at Oya, who was already walking away, saying nothing.

“Why don’t you give it a try?” Dan Chou-chou asked.

“What?”

“Going out with him.”

“Don’t talk nonsense,” Qiao Xi walked away.

Dan Chou-chou pursed her lips, suddenly realizing that such explosive news shouldn’t be kept from Gu Shao and the others. With that thought, she quickly pulled out her phone to make a call—

———

“Why park the car outside? Why not just drive it in?” Leng Xinmeng complained. If her motorcycle hadn’t broken down, she wouldn’t have let Gu Heng give her a ride!

“This isn’t Maple Yang,” Gu Heng replied in a deep voice.

“Hmph, so what!” Leng Xinmeng was unimpressed.

“I told you not to come.”

“I wanted to, who are you to care!”

Gu Heng said nothing more.

“So handsome.”

“That girl is so pretty.”

“Are they from our school? Why have we never seen them before?”

“Yeah, maybe they’re transfer students?”

...

The moment the two entered the school, all eyes were immediately drawn to them.
