Chapter 112: The Choice (8)
"Although I don't agree with your percentages, I won't refute them for the time being."
"You couldn't refute them even if you wanted to. Facts are facts."
Nan Zixi ignored her comment and continued, "Just as you said, Ningyi's words are ninety percent reliable, which means there is still a ten percent chance she is lying, isn't there?"
"So what? What kind of normal person would choose to believe someone who is only ten percent reliable over someone who is ninety percent reliable?"
"Are you speaking in tongue-twisters?"
"I'm saying that you, of all people, are unreliable," Shan Chouqiu said, unable to stand it any longer.
"That's just your prejudice."
"I can't be bothered to waste my breath on you." Shan Chouqiu walked away after throwing those words at him. She had been traveling by car since this morning and hadn't rested at all. She was exhausted and had no energy left to bicker with him.
Nan Zixi also felt it was pointless. However, it was still early, and since he had slept until almost dark today, he felt no desire to sleep yet.
"I wonder where Heng took Qiao Xi. That guy is so taciturn and loves to act cool—it’d be a miracle if he could actually win Qiao Xi over!" he muttered to himself, only for Chouqiu’s loud voice to suddenly ring out:
"Don't you dare go and stir up trouble."
"Hey, didn't you leave? Why are you back? Oh, I know—you love me so much that you started missing me the moment we parted."
"To hell with your narcissism! I left my phone at Ningyi's place!" She had been forced to turn back, only to find him talking to himself. It was a good thing she had returned, or else if this guy went and messed things up, her hopes would go down the drain. "I'm warning you: whether Qiao Xi can return to Fengyang this time depends entirely on Young Master Gu. Don't you dare go and make a mess of things, you hear me?"
"If Heng were capable of keeping Qiao Xi, she wouldn't have transferred schools in the first place," Nan Zixi said, arching his brows innocently.
"I don't care. You are not allowed to go." Shan Chouqiu was firm.
"I admit I wanted to go join the fun, but how would I even know where Heng took Qiao Xi for their date?"
"That's true, I suppose."
"Of course, I do know a few places they frequent. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I might run into them at the first spot..."
"Would it kill you to finish your sentences all at once?" Shan Chouqiu roared. "Forget it, it's safer to just watch you go home." As she spoke, she reached out to grab him.
"Hey, hey, hey! People are going to misunderstand," Nan Zixi yelled.
"I'm the one who should be embarrassed, so why the hell are you screaming?" Shan Chouqiu was furious.
"You're definitely up to something with me!"
"That's right, I'm just dying for you to..." Shan Chouqiu stopped mid-sentence, her face filled with suspicion and confusion. "Huh!?"
"What? Can't bring yourself to curse me anymore? Is your heart aching for me?" Nan Zixi teased, though his gaze followed hers toward whatever she was staring at.
Suddenly, he tapped her on the head. "Hey, I'm still here. What's with the lovestruck look at another guy right in front of me? If he looked better than me, I might let it slide, but..."
"Shut up!" Shan Chouqiu shouted.
Her outburst caught the attention of the person ahead, who looked up and noticed them.
"Shan Chouqiu? What are you doing here?" Ji Niansheng walked over, sounding puzzled as he confirmed it was her.
He was surprised? She was even more surprised than he was.
"That's the question I should be asking you. What are you doing here?" she asked. Suddenly, she recalled Nan Zixi's words. Could that ten percent chance of unreliability actually include this? Did Sister Xin really get a boyfriend?
No, that couldn't be right. Was Sister Xin really that easy to win over?
