Qiao Xi listened, her expression unchanged. “If you saw it, you can report it to the school.”
“I didn’t come here for that,” Ou Ya said.
Qiao Xi looked at him but said nothing.
“I originally wanted to stop you, but by the time I arrived, you had already acted.”
“So?”
Ou Ya said nothing, glanced around, then turned to her. “Do you have time? Take me for a walk?”
“The latest bus to the city leaves at seven,” Qiao Xi reminded him.
“There’s still time,” Ou Ya replied.
“I have something to do later,” Qiao Xi said without looking at him.
“Is that so?” Ou Ya gave a low chuckle, seemingly unconcerned.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now,” Qiao Xi said directly.
“Alright,” Ou Ya nodded.
Qiao Xi said no more and turned to leave but immediately stopped.
She didn’t turn back, her back facing him.
“How did you know?” Even though news of Gu Heng’s hospitalization and her intention to avenge him had reached Yingran, how did he know the exact location?
Ou Ya didn’t hide it and said outright, “The chairman called to inform me. He’s currently abroad.”
So that was the reason…

That’s why he came.
Without expectations, there was naturally no disappointment.
But how did Yu Fan know so clearly? The key was that the person was still abroad. Could he have secretly sent someone to follow her?
“I understand,” she said coolly, without any emotion.
“So even if you really got into a fight, the chairman has ways to suppress it, Yingran will see,” Ou Ya said, watching her even though only her back was visible.
Qiao Xi listened but said nothing, walking straight ahead.
When she arrived at the hospital, everyone else had left; only Gu Heng’s mother remained.
“You came so early. Why not rest a bit more?” Mrs. Gu asked with concern.
“It’s fine. I’m here, Auntie. You should go home and rest early,” Qiao Xi said.
“You’re such a good child. Then I’ll leave Heng in your care,” Mrs. Gu said, relieved.
“All right.”
Mrs. Gu felt at ease entrusting her son to Qiao Xi’s care and went home.
Only Qiao Xi and Gu Heng remained in the ward; the room instantly grew much quieter.
Qiao Xi approached. He was still leaning against the headboard just as when they left earlier. She asked, “Do you want to lie down and rest for a while?”
Gu Heng was about to speak but caught sight of her hand and immediately asked, “What happened to your hand?”
Qiao Xi lowered her head, looking at the bandage on her right index finger, pausing for a moment. “I accidentally scraped it.”
Gu Heng stared at the bandage on her finger but said nothing.

“The wound is small. With the bandage on, you don’t have to worry about it getting wet,” Qiao Xi said.
Gu Heng suddenly lifted his head and stared at her. “Who helped you put that on?”
Qiao Xi hesitated, suddenly recalling that she had a habit since childhood when applying bandages: tilting the ends to the sides. But this bandage on her hand was applied particularly neatly.
“A friend,” she said.
Gu Heng listened but remained silent.
“Do you want some fruit?” Qiao Xi asked.
“I just ate,” Gu Heng replied.
“Then let me help you lie down and rest.”
Gu Heng didn’t respond. Taking his silence as agreement, she moved closer and reached out to support him but his hand closed over hers.
She didn’t pull away, looking at him. “What is it?”
“You…” Gu Heng opened his mouth but changed his mind and said, “Nothing.”
Qiao Xi didn’t ask further. “Then you should rest first.”
Gu Heng said nothing as she helped him lie down.
Qiao Xi tucked the blanket around him and sat on the chair nearby.
Neither spoke again, and the ward fell into a deep silence.
