"I can't even be bothered with you." Shan Chouqou felt like she would literally vomit blood if she kept talking to him, so she dropped those words and walked away directly.

Nan Zixi spread his hands in an aggrieved manner, "She didn't even bother to retort, which just shows that I am so handsome that—whoa, ouch, ouch!"

He let out a sudden yelp midway through his sentence because someone had kicked him from behind, and completely without holding back. It would be a miracle if it didn't hurt.

"Nice job." Duanmu Ningyi raised her hand and high-fived Leng Xinmeng.

"I say, how could you bear to kick so hard? Aren't your heart aching?" Nan Zixi stared at her pitifully.

Leng Xinmeng let out a hum, completely ignoring him like he didn't exist, and walked straight past him back to the classroom.

The kick just now was simply a instinctive reaction after finishing up in the restroom when she happened to pass by and witness someone's narcissism. Who told this guy to always be so narcissistic that he practically begged to be punched?

"You're ignoring me again. I'm clearly loved by everyone, blooming wherever I go... Hey, Ningyi, we're in the same gang after all. Shouldn't you be on my side?"

"Who's in the same gang as you? Stop talking nonsense." Duanmu Ningyi glanced at him sideways.

"Right, right. But Heng must be feeling really miserable right now. Aren't you going to go comfort him? You know, someone suffering from both external and internal injuries is most vulnerable at a time like this..."

"Shut your mouth!" Duanmu Ningyi glared at him coldly. "You were the one who told me not to cross the line. Are you going back on your word now? Believe it or not, I'll go tell Xinmeng right now—"

"Don't, don't! I was just kindly reminding you so you wouldn't miss the opportunity. Don't be ungrateful."

"Unnecessary. Just keep your mouth shut." Duanmu Ningyi dropped those words and returned to the classroom just as the class bell rang.

"As expected, no good deed goes unpunished." Nan Zixi sighed with unmerited grievances and also headed toward the classroom.

The bell signaling the end of the morning classes finally rang. Qiao Xi was packing up her textbooks when Gu Panxi walked over.

"Qiao Xi, let's go get lunch together."

Remembering what Yu Fan had said earlier that morning about 'seeing you after class,' Qiao Xi shook her head. "I have something to take care of. You guys go ahead."

"Panxi, Qiao Xi is a girl with a boyfriend now. How could she possibly ditch her boyfriend to have lunch with us? Let's go," a classmate said, pulling Gu Panxi along.

"That's true too. Well then, Qiao Xi, see you back at school." With that, Gu Panxi left with her classmate.

Qiao Xi packed her textbooks and waited until most of the students had cleared out before standing up to leave the classroom.

Actually, she wasn't entirely sure whether Yu Fan's words referred to the end of the morning session or the afternoon session, but either way, it was necessary for her to make things completely clear with him once and for all.

Emerging from the classroom, she walked toward the staircase. As she neared the stairwell, her steps paused.

From the opposite direction, Ou Ya happened to be walking over as well.

With his head slightly lowered, he hadn't noticed her.

The distance between each of them and the stairwell was roughly the same. Maintaining their original paces, Qiao Xi knew they would arrive at the stairwell almost simultaneously, so she slowed her pace, whereas his stride remained unhurried.

It wasn't that she deliberately wanted to avoid him, but rather that she felt it was better not to cross paths if it could be helped, seeing as they had nothing left to say to each other anyway.

Soon, Ou Ya reached the stairwell and headed straight down.

Qiao Xi watched him descend, her steps remaining slow and measured.

By the time she reached the playground, Ou Ya's shadow was nowhere to be seen.

Just then, a man walked up to her.

Qiao Xi recognized him; he was Yu Fan's current driver.
