Chapter 153: Reaping What One Sows (3)
Hearing those words, Qiao Xi paused her steps.
Almost immediately, he walked over and stood right in front of her.
"Is there something you need, Vice President?" she asked, looking at him with a completely calm tone and expression.
"Heading back?" Ou Ya asked.
Qiao Xi nodded.
"Why aren't you taking the main gate?" he asked again.
"No particular reason, I just wanted to take a different route," Qiao Xi replied simply.
"Is that so." It sounded like a question, yet not quite a question, as Ou Ya simply gazed at her.
"If the Vice President has nothing else, I'll be leaving first." Qiao Xi did not avoid his gaze and spoke directly.
Ou Ya opened his mouth, but in the end, he only said, "See you next week, then."
Without another word, Qiao Xi walked right past him.
However, she had barely taken two steps when his voice reached her from behind.
"If..." he began. Seeing her stop, he continued, "you're trying to hide from the President, taking the back exit isn't going to help."
Qiao Xi listened without speaking, nor did she turn around.
"Everyone in school knows the President is pursuing you. The moment you headed this way, I'm sure someone already notified him," Ou Ya said.
After a brief silence, Qiao Xi slowly turned back to look at him.
"Were you one of them?"
"The President's personal matters are not my place to interfere," Ou Ya replied under her gaze.
Hearing this, Qiao Xi said nothing more and simply walked away.
The outcome proved to be exactly as Ou Ya had predicted. The moment she emerged from the school's back gate, she spotted Yu Fan's car.
Driving was naturally faster than walking, which meant someone must have tipped him off the instant she changed direction toward the back exit.
Still having no intention of getting into his car, she walked right past it.
Once again, the luxury car crept along at a slow pace. The only difference this time was that Yu Fan stepped out of the vehicle and walked alongside her.
First came the expensive car trailing slowly behind, followed by a remarkably handsome young man and a beautiful girl. This pairing inevitably drew many curious glances along the path.
Qiao Xi paid no attention to the onlookers and remained silent throughout.
Yu Fan seemed cooperative and matched her silence, uttering almost not a word.
Halfway down the road, his phone suddenly rang.
He answered the call and listened without speaking. After about twenty seconds, he simply said, "I understand."
Judging by his slightly heavy tone, something must have happened, but Qiao Xi did not slow her pace because of it.
Hanging up, Yu Fan noticed Qiao Xi was already two or three steps ahead of him and quickly strode to catch up.
No sooner had Qiao Xi sensed him closing in than her hand was caught in his grasp.
"You—"
Before she could finish, she was pulled toward him.
"What are you doing?" Regaining her footing, she tried to pull her hand away, but ultimately failed to break free.
"I'm taking you home," Yu Fan said. The chauffeur had already brought the car forward; with one hand holding Qiao Xi's, he opened the car door with the other.
"I already said I don't need it," Qiao Xi immediately retorted.
"I have business to attend to shortly, so I'm taking you back first," Yu Fan said earnestly. The phone call had come from his father, demanding his immediate return, which meant he no longer had the time to leisurely walk her home.
"If you have business, go ahead. I can walk back by myself," Qiao Xi replied.
"I said I would take you home, and I always keep my word." It wasn't an overtly aggressive tone, yet it carried an undeniable dominance. With that, Yu Fan pulled Qiao Xi toward the vehicle.
Qiao Xi's strength was no match for his, and she was ultimately pulled inside the car.
"Drive," Yu Fan instructed the chauffeur, who immediately pulled away.
With the car already in motion, further resistance was pointless; she certainly wasn't foolish enough to jump out of a moving vehicle.
