As Qiao Xi had expected, she did not break away at once, nor did she deny their relationship; in other words, she tacitly admitted it.

“So you want to stay here and listen to the lesson?” Yu Fan picked up from her words, though his gaze remained fixed on Nan Zixi.

“No, better not. Classes are so dull anyway, and this is a third-year lesson. I wouldn’t understand it even if I sat through it. I’m leaving, bye-bye~”

Apparently bored of stirring things up, Nan Zixi finally walked out of the classroom without further fuss, with Dan Chouchou following behind.

Qiao Xi was about to leave when Yu Fan said, “Wait for me after school.”

She paused, said nothing, and went on her way. Faintly, she could hear the students behind her whispering; before long, she was sure the whole school would know that she and Yu Fan were “dating.”

Since agreeing to cooperate with Yu Fan, she had guessed that this day might come. Yet in private, she had never truly wanted it “made public,” never wanted the “rumor” to become the so-called truth. In the end, with Nan Zixi’s little commotion, it had been exposed completely and utterly.

Up ahead, the two were still bickering and tussling as they walked. Qiao Xi had long since lost the desire to intervene.

After making a scene for a while, Dan Chouchou grew annoyed as well and held out a hand toward the other. “Hand over your phone.”

“What do you want with my phone? Trying to peek at my private photos? Aren’t you ashamed?”

“Save the narcissism. Give me your phone. Don’t think I didn’t see what you just secretly took. If you won’t give it to me, I’ll take it myself.”

As soon as she finished, she lunged forward to snatch the phone. Naturally, Nan Zixi would not let her have it so easily, and the two struggled back and forth. Then, all of a sudden, Nan Zixi let out a sharp cry.

“Oh no!!!”

“What now?” Dan Chouchou grabbed the phone, and after glancing at it she blurted out at once, “You little rascal, you actually sent the photo of Qiao Xi and the chairman holding hands to Gu Shao.”

Qiao Xi had no intention of paying them any mind, but upon hearing those words she stopped in her tracks immediately.

“Chouchou, what did you just say?”

“That rotten Nan Zixi, he secretly took a picture of you and the chairman just now, and now he’s sent the shot of you holding hands to Gu Shao.” Dan Chouchou held the phone up in front of Qiao Xi as she spoke.

Qiao Xi looked at the picture on the screen. It had been taken from the side, so only their profiles were visible, but anyone who knew her would recognize her instantly.

Perhaps because of the angle, the image of the two facing each other looked somewhat intimate, and her hand was still being held...

“It was you pressing it while you were grabbing for the phone. It has nothing to do with me,” Nan Zixi said as though the matter had nothing to do with him.

“Don’t talk nonsense. How could there be such a coincidence?” Dan Chouchou protested.

“It was you who pressed it.”

“It wasn’t me, it was you...”

...

Qiao Xi stood still for a moment, then lowered her eyelids in cool indifference.

In truth, even without the photo, news of her “relationship” with Yu Fan would spread there soon enough.

Saying nothing, she simply left.

“Qiao Xi must be angry now. It’s all your fault! If you want to play, then play at Maple Glory; even if you turn that place upside down, it’s your business. Why did you have to come here and cause trouble?” Dan Chouchou狠狠敲了 Nan Zixi twice.

“That’s what makes it fun. The two of them are so far apart—how boring would it be?” Nan Zixi showed not the slightest trace of guilt.

“You! I can’t be bothered with you. I’m going back to class.” Dan Chouchou shoved the phone back into his hands and stormed off in a huff.

Nan Zixi held the phone and stared at it.

Then the phone rang.

Seeing the name on the screen, he smiled and answered at once.

“Heng, has it only been a day and you already miss me this much?”

As his words fell, a deep voice came from the other end of the line:

“Where did that photo come from?”

“By the way, isn’t this class time right now? It doesn’t seem very appropriate for you to call. The teacher might get angry.”
