Chapter Ninety-Three: No Causing Mischief (1)
She gave her a faint smile. "See you tomorrow."
Qiao Xi frowned slightly but said nothing as she got out of the car.
Without looking back, she went straight inside.
Her grandmother had already prepared dinner. After eating, she washed the dishes and returned to her room to do her homework.
He followed all the way in silence, and for someone as restless as Nan Zixi, it was pure torment.
"Brother Heng, I beg you, you're already cool enough as it is. Could you please stop trying to get even cooler? It's so suffocating."
Gu Heng ignored him, his handsome face still composed and dark.
"Are you really just going to leave it at that?" the chatter continued. "One sentence and you've been sent packing. I can't tell whether Qiao Xi is just that charming, or whether you're far too innocent. If chasing someone were really this easy, wouldn't that be strange? I've gone through so much trouble for you, and you know acting is exhausting. Yet this is the result. Thinking about it, it really doesn't seem worth it at all..."
"Shut up." Gu Heng cut him off in a low voice, his expression not irritated in the least, only colder and more restrained.
Nan Zixi froze, then looked wounded. "You're taking your anger out on me?"
Gu Heng said nothing and walked on.
"Bastard. Good intentions never pay off." Nan Zixi muttered a curse. "Fine, keep being cool. Like anyone cares." And he decisively headed in the opposite direction.
"Hey!"
He had only gone a few steps when he heard that familiar, emotionless call.
As if I didn't hear that. As if I didn't hear that.
Nan Zixi was still sulking and decided to ignore him.
"I warn you, don't go causing trouble at Splendid Orchard again."
The voice was icy and sharp, unmistakably a warning.
Nan Zixi spun around at once, tilting his head as he casually looked at the impassive Gu Heng.
"Heng, tell me this: if you used the same attitude on Qiao Xi that you use on me, do you think she'd still be able to run away from you?"
"She's not the same as you."
"She's a girl and I'm a guy, of course we're not the same."
Gu Heng couldn't be bothered to say more. He turned and left.
"Tch, not interesting at all." Nan Zixi murmured in boredom, then kept walking the other way.
When she heard the door open, Sun Chou was in the bathroom.
Even through the door, she could tell that the person who had come in was her own visitor.
It had to be that bastard Nan.
She grumbled inwardly, and sure enough, when she came out, she saw the culprit who had already set her teeth on edge.
"You rotten Nan, you're just begging to be beaten, aren't you? You still dare to come here?" As she spoke, she walked over, preparing to kick him a few times, only to see him staring at her with a sorrowful look, oddly pitiful.
With that handsome face and that expression, well... she had to admit it was enough to make someone want to protect him.
"Damn it, you think this is the first day I've known you? Quit acting in front of me." Without the slightest courtesy, she aimed a fierce kick at him.
Nan Zixi narrowly dodged it and cried out in grievance, "Ahhh, Chou Chou, you're serious? You don't love me at all. How could you bear to hit me like that? Don't you feel bad if I get hurt?"
"Feel bad?" Sun Chou folded her arms and raised her brows. "Let me hurt you first, then I'll see whether I feel bad or not."
"Too ruthless. If you can't have it, you destroy it—women are terrifying."
"You've been reading too many novels."
"Oh? How did you know? Last time I just grabbed a random book from your room and it was exactly this kind of story. That's when I realized how much you love me."
"You sneaked into my room again while I was out. Tell me, besides taking a book, what else did you do?"
"Out of curiosity, I opened your wardrobe. And, ah... wow, you really are so flat-chested."
