Chapter 97: Trap (3)
Qiao Xi’s expression did not change. “I didn’t realize the chairman liked to say one thing and do another.”
Yu Fan was still smiling, his handsome face as cool as ever.
“How do you mean?”
“You said you made a bet with Ji Niansheng, and that I would cooperate with you. Now that the bet is over, you still refuse to let it go.”
“It’s true that I made a bet with Niansheng.” Yu Fan did not deny it. He had never liked lying, but that did not mean he would not set a trap for someone. “But I never said I wasn’t interested in you.”
So outwardly he had told the truth, yet in reality he had laid a snare for her, waiting for her to walk right into it of her own accord?
As Qiao Xi thought this, her gaze turned faintly cold.
“Whatever the case, my cooperation ends here.” Her tone was not heavy, yet it was colder than before. “I’m willing to cooperate with you doesn’t mean I’m truly afraid of you. I simply don’t want trouble. If you insist on dragging this out, I won’t just surrender meekly either.”
“I know.” Yu Fan answered, and suddenly pulled her toward him. Her body struck his chest with neither too much nor too little force; then her waist tightened, and she realized he had wrapped an arm around it.
At such close range, she could distinctly feel his body heat and his breath.
The discomfort made her frown. She tried to pull back and keep her distance, but his arm held her fast. Before she could break free, his low voice had already sounded by her ear.
“So from now on, I’ll make you willingly become my girlfriend.”
“You...” Qiao Xi had barely begun when footsteps sounded at the doorway. She instinctively looked over, at the same time trying to break free from Yu Fan’s embrace, but when she saw the person standing at the door, she froze for an instant.
Ou Ya had not expected to witness such a scene either, and he too froze for a moment.
Qiao Xi quickly came to herself and hurried to leave Yu Fan’s arms, while Yu Fan also let her go at the same time, making their separation look perfectly natural.
“Sorry.” After a few seconds of silence, Ou Ya spoke, still gentle, with a trace of apology. “I seem to have come at the wrong time.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Yu Fan said.
“I didn’t come for anything important. I won’t disturb you.” Ou Ya said politely, then turned and left.
Qiao Xi did not deliberately watch him, but even without looking, she could imagine his expression from the tone of his voice. In truth, no matter the situation, he was always mild and courteous, as though nothing could affect his mood at all.
“Do as you please,” she said to Yu Fan. “But no one can force me.”
She did not want trouble, but that did not mean she would quietly accept it if others came to pester her. Everyone had a bottom line.
“Is that so.” Yu Fan looked at her, and the confidence in his eyes made her inexplicably uneasy.
But she said nothing more and left directly.
Yu Fan did not stop her either. He was not in a hurry; time was on his side.
When Qiao Xi came out, she did see Ou Ya, but only a back receding into the distance.
He had already come to class that morning, so he must have heard about her and Yu Fan dating. Seeing that scene just now, there probably wasn’t much for him to be shocked or surprised about.
Slowly, she withdrew her gaze.
Thinking of Yu Fan’s expression from earlier, so overconfident, she truly felt uneasy.
A boy so forceful and domineering, with such a powerful family background—if he truly refused to let go, he would be a very serious trouble for her indeed.
While she was thinking, footsteps suddenly sounded, and when she looked up, she saw Gu Dieyan.
Gu Dieyan had spotted Qiao Xi from afar and had hesitated for quite a while before coming over.
