Chapter 132: Even the System Has Become a Nobody~~Dedicated to the First Helmsman
Three months had passed since the battle between Zheng Jian and Yan Shisan.
Zheng Jian’s injuries had completely healed, but the reason he had not yet departed was Xue Keren. Although he could not reciprocate her feelings, he could not simply walk away and leave her to her fate. He had been pondering how to secure her future, at the very least ensuring she had support to prevent the Xiahou Clan from coming after her again.
One day, while Zheng Jian was sitting in the courtyard, two figures descended from the sky and landed before him. Without even looking up, he knew it was Xie Xiaofeng and Murong Qiudi, here to flaunt their romance once more. "Do you two have to jump over the wall instead of using the front gate?"
Xie Xiaofeng smiled faintly. "I’d rather not be recognized and invite unnecessary trouble."
Bathed in the warmth of love, Murong Qiudi’s temperament had changed entirely. She smiled and pulled up a chair for Xie Xiaofeng, standing dutifully by his side.
"Tsk tsk, is Madam Xie really this virtuous now?" Zheng Jian teased.
Hearing the title "Madam Xie," a look of blissful happiness bloomed on Murong Qiudi’s face, and she pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Xie Xiaofeng chuckled bitterly, "At home, she is not exactly—ouch!" Before he could finish, he felt a sharp pain in his arm.
"Hahahaha!" Zheng Jian laughed. "Someone once said that marriage is like a fortress; those outside want in, and those inside want out. Third Young Master Xie, are you thinking of getting out now?"
Murong Qiudi’s eyebrows arched in anger.
*Resentment from Murong Qiudi +666.*
"Damn, that works too?" Zheng Jian thought to himself, stunned. It seemed these two were back to their passionate days.
"Fine, let’s leave that aside. You two lovebirds came to see me—what for?" Zheng Jian changed the subject.
Xie Xiaofeng glanced at Murong Qiudi. "You tell him."
Murong Qiudi smiled gently. "Everyone knows that you, the great swordsman Zheng, are invincible. As it happens, I founded the Tianzun organization in my bitterness years ago, but now I only wish to stay home and focus on my family. I would like to gift it to you. What do you think?"
Zheng Jian was stunned, then immediately shook his head. "Don't! Absolutely not! I’m used to being a lone wolf; I have no interest in power."
Murong Qiudi looked surprised. "Don't underestimate it. It is filled with first-class martial artists from the pugilistic world."
"I really don't want it! By the way, if you’re looking for someone to manage Tianzun, I actually have a candidate." Zheng Jian’s heart stirred. Wasn't this perfect? Xue Keren needed protection; if she became the leader of Tianzun, the Xiahou Clan would never dare to trouble her again.
"Who?" Murong Qiudi asked, intrigued.
"Xue Keren! She may not have much martial arts skill, but she is certainly clever enough. As long as you provide her with a bodyguard, there will be no issues." Zheng Jian smiled.
"Will she... be willing?" Murong Qiudi hesitated. "Over the years, Tianzun’s reputation in the pugilistic world hasn't exactly been stellar..."
"Keren! Keren!" Zheng Jian called out.
Soon, Xue Keren arrived. Seeing Xie Xiaofeng and his wife, she was quite happy. After the pleasantries, Murong Qiudi explained her purpose.
Zheng Jian said, "Keren, think about it..."
Xue Keren looked at Zheng Jian. "The boss isn't teasing me today..." She suddenly understood his intentions and nodded. "Alright, I will try." She was intelligent; she had long sensed his desire to leave. And truly, how could a man like Zheng Jian remain a tavern owner forever?
"The boss wants me to accept this because he hopes I can take care of myself..." she thought, feeling a sting of sadness. She knew Zheng Jian had no romantic feelings for her; parting was inevitable. She was not a little girl; she was quite mature.
Murong Qiudi, unaware of the situation, smiled. "Don't worry, Sister Keren. I will send Xiao Di to help you, and Li Zhenzhen as well!"
...
That night, seeing the light still on in Zheng Jian’s room, Xue Keren bit her lip, hesitating. Finally, she stepped forward and pushed open the door.
The room was empty.
Xue Keren froze, tears welling up in her eyes and spilling over. She walked to the table and saw a letter Zheng Jian had left behind.
"Keren, I’m sorry. I know your feelings, but I cannot accept them. I am merely a passerby in your life. It is not for any other reason than that I do not stay anywhere; I am as free as the wind..."
Xue Keren read it intently, her vision blurring as tears dropped onto the paper.
...
Standing atop the desolate mountain peak months after the fierce battle, the traces of the fight had long been covered by weeds. Looking down at the distant town, Zheng Jian felt a wave of emotion. For him, the time spent in this world was not long, far less than his time in the *Smiling Proud Wanderer* world, and his connection to it was not as deep.
Zheng Jian now understood that he was a traveler wandering through the heavens and worlds, seeing the path behind him, but unable to see the path ahead, nor knowing the destination.
He took out a jar of Imperial Jade Wine, broke the seal, and laughed. "Yan Shisan, I don't know where the crows buried you, so let this place where we fought serve as a tribute. This is truly good wine. Last time, I was afraid you’d drink too much, so I gave you cheap stuff. Today, you get the real thing!"
He lifted the jar, took a large gulp, and poured the rest onto the ground.
"Goodbye, Third Young Master!"
"Goodbye, Yan Shisan!"
"Goodbye, everyone in this world!"
Under the starlight, Zheng Jian’s figure grew faint and eventually vanished, as if he had never existed at all.
Below Cuiyun Peak, by the Green Water Lake, Xie Xiaofeng was teaching Xie Xiaodi the Xie family sword style. Suddenly, he felt a stirring, looked up at the sky, but saw only the clear breeze and the moon. He paused for a moment, then collected his thoughts. "Come, Xiaodi, let me teach you a supreme move called the 'Heaven-Stealing, Sun-Swapping Sword Strike.' How about that?"
...
Zheng Jian’s figure slowly materialized on the plaza.
All around was the unchanging starry sky. This ancient, mysterious square seemed to exist in the gaps between the heavens and worlds. Zheng Jian looked toward two of the brightest stars, knowing them to be the *Smiling Proud Wanderer* world and the *Third Young Master* world.
"System, is it true that the worlds I have visited glow brighter?" Zheng Jian asked with a light laugh. It had been a long time since he chatted with the system.
*Poor, invisible system!*
Zheng Jian told himself he was only ignoring it because it had scared him last time, and he was holding a grudge.
"Yes," the system replied.
"System, it’s so boring here. Since you are an omnipotent system, can't you renovate the environment?" Zheng Jian complained. It was the truth—apart from the plaza and the stars, there was nothing here.
